    Will go again!!!

The food was great however the best restaurant was Pizza Pizza. The whole resort needs an update. We did go the day after the hurricane, and the staff was working really hard to clean up the damage. Rooms are clean, staff were AMAZING and fun to be around. Beach is really small, it had a lot of seaweed. But not the resorts fault. Night time entertainment was ok. The resort seemed to quiet down around dinner time. The adults only pool seemed to always be partying during the day! Several pools so everyone was spread out. We never felt crowded or that we didn’t have enough space to swim. We had a great time!!

    very poor

This was one of the worst hotels I’ve been in. In every room there is a hot tub but it doesn’t even work. The water EVERYWHERE is warm. It’s not hot but not cold, even in the hot tub. The pipe from where the water comes out, the tube is too small to fill up the whole tub. If you were to try to fill up the tub, it would take a couple hours. This hotel is definitely not beach friendly for many reasons such as the water is extremely dirty and only if you look far into ocean, you can see where the clean water starts. When I was walking around in this hotel, near the end of it, you can see that there is sewage that the hotels put out waste that goes into the ocean!!! This is so unhygienic and when I tried to tell the hotel manager about this, he just said that the ocean is dirty because of “the season”. Unbelievable.

Average experience at an average resort

We went here as guests of people who are members with the Karisma resort chain. From the website I had some high expectations. These expectations were not met at all. First of all, the website advertises a beach (and it's called Azul BEACH Resort). The beach that is there is not swimmable or even usable. It's covered in trash, old seaweed, and collapsed palm trees. The water is murky and uninviting. This was the biggest disappointment to me as I was looking forward to clean, clear water, and a white sand beach. The resort is advertised as serving gourmet food. No. The food was only gourmet if you believe that cafeteria food is gourmet. I was disappointed that not one of the restaurants served TACOS! In MEXICO! Nor did they have spicy salsa. Now, granted there were a lot of British people there, and a lot of Americans, but it seemed like all of the food was catered toward the blandest of taste profiles. This was hugely disappointing. The resort is in great need of repair. While we were there, Hurricane Beryl passed through over the course of a night and most of a day. Our room flooded with water coming in through the balcony door. Ok, it was a hurricane, that might be expected. But no. It flooded again on another day that it rained. It was easy to notice other things that needed repair as well. The pool (which was great, actually), had a lot of missing tiles, and plaster that was crumbling. Many of the ceilings around the resort needed plaster repair as well. The airconditioner vents in the ceilings of the restaurants and the lobby were constantly dripping water and water dripped from other cracks in the ceilings as well. Our room was nice. We paid for a family suite which included a queen bed for the parents, and then a double pull out couch, and a single pull out couch. This was ideal for our 18 year old and our 12 year old. However, it is not actually two pull outs. It is one double pull out and the chaise lounge that is attached to the couch. So one "bed" was not even a bed. The double pull out had a paper thin mattress on it and laying down, you could feel each and every bar that was underneath. Even when they added another mattress on top, you could feel everything. The staff was very accomodating though and brought in an actual twin bed for one of my kids and we folded up the couch. Finally, some positives. The staff at the resort were super friendly and accomodating. That was really appreciated. There were always deck chairs available at the pool and I never felt that the pool was too crowded. We got all of the drinks that we wanted and anything that we asked for for the room was brought up immediately. The resort is really beautiful and is an excellent place for families. The wildlife was great too. We spent time observing the resident iguanas, got to see a couple of coatis running around at dusk, and there's even a little black cat that lives there. We named him Pepito. So, overall, this was an average experience at an average resort.

    Febe - the best concierge

My wife and I went to Azul Beach for our Wedding Anniversary. Despite the heavy rains, we made the most of it. Our concierge, Febe, was amazing. As Prestige Members, she took care of us and ensured our butlers followed through with our requests. She greeted us warmly and showed true concern when we came back to the hotel late after a party at Margaritaville. Our favorite part of the resort was the restaurant, Le Chique, which is a must for any foodie. It was worth the extra money to go this Michelin Star restaurant. A negative was with the rain there was only one bar open in the evening, and entertainment was in the lobby most of the time.
