    Incredible balcony view

Our checkin was easy and we were quickly exploring our room! Our view was incredible, looking out over the (adult-only swim-up bar) pool and beach umbrellas to the ocean. The scene is now my computer wallpaper. The sunsets were fabulous! The forecast called for rain daily, it did not rain daily and when it rained it had no impact on our day due to time or location. Our kids are young so we only used the family pool near the buffet. We were always able to get chairs near the pool with umbrellas. The Kidsdom is nearby and our kids did hang out there for a couple hours one day; they did arts and crafts and played with the other kids. Most of the other children spoke Spanish, mine know little but said everyone was included and seemed to have fun. It was blue crab breeding season and while odd to see crabs everywhere for days, it was very fun and entertaining - something we will never forget! We could have happily and lazily stayed at the resort for the whole trip, however we rented a jeep and explored a lot! Our kids favorite experiences were the clear boat tour and bird watching tour. Wonderful family trip!

    Fun in the sun!!!

Great place to get away from everything!!! Small resort and everything is close together. Two pools - one for kids/families and one for adults. The beach is clean, and seaweed is cleaned up every day. April, who leads daytime activities, is amazing!!!

    Our trip 2024

My only concern was we weren’t explained at check in the different levels that the bracelets meant. For example if you have the white bracelet then you get the high end premium liquors. We paid for it on our package so then we should have been told that at check in. Alexandra checked us in and didn't seem to know what she was doing so that explains why we weren’t told. That definitely needs to be addressed.

    Would not recommend

This is a long, thoughtful review that I hope helps others when choosing where to stay on this beautiful island. General Grounds/beach/adult pool: Generally clean but kind of rundown on the beach. Using caution tape and beach chairs to block off an area really lacks class. The sea water here is not crystal clear blue like you would expect at the Caribbean. It was often very brown. If you go to the neighboring hotel beach it is gorgeous and a great spot to snorkel. The pool was cloudy/dirty until the 5th day they did a deep clean and wow filth there must’ve been for the difference that made. 90% of the pool is >6 foot deep except for around the bar where everyone has to congregate. It is a total waste of space. The music is endless loops of either elevator music or annoying renditions of various songs (this goes for the restaurants too). In desperate need of cash for a taxi to airport we attempted to use their atm which didn’t work. When asking for help (can we charge money to our card and get cash?) we were met with “we can’t help you with money, you have to go downtown.” We then got a cab to and from for $20 round trip just to use the downtown ATM. I understand the rules, but the lack of empathy or any attempt to fix the problem with the atm was frustrating. The gym is pretty small, out dated but has the basics. We don’t have kids so can’t speak to the kids area much but it looked very nice. Room: We had a level grand premium room which we loved. The view was great. The bathroom was probably the only downside. The door opens literally an inch from the toilet. No standup shower, just a shower with a tub. Housekeeping did a good job. Coffee maker in room is a plus as well as in room snacks & bevs which are customizable. Food: Having been to 10+ all inclusives all over the Caribbean we know that AI food can be hit or miss. This is a miss for sure. The food at the buffet is inedible and redundant. Many others note the lack of variety and wow were they right. On top of that it is really not cleanly. There are flies everywhere on the cold food area especially. My husband had to alert staff that a/c vent condensation water was dripping on the kids buffet sandwiches. They just pushed them back and didnt replace them. The next day everything was back in the same area…so disgusting. I watched a server at the buffet blowing his nose and coughing on his hands then putting down silverware on tables. It is not a shock that I ended our trip sick with an upper respiratory infection. I will say breakfast was good. The omelets were very tasty and the French toast too. The ala carte restaurant food was marginally better, but still so bad (plus awful service). We ate off the resort twice and had I not been sick on the last day, it would’ve been three times. The level snack bar / mole snack bar were good for what they had (burgers, quesadilla). We ate there often for lunch to avoid the atrocity that is the buffet. The desserts sucked too but the churros they had once were good. Service: Our concierge Alfonso made a good first impression and checked in w us daily via WhatsApp. Other than making us reservations we didn’t use him much. The morning buffet servers were by far the friendliest (too bad that didn’t make up for the food). We appreciated their hard work. The servers at the 2 ala carte restaurants were unfriendly. We often had to ask for our drinks several times and our orders were incorrect. Overall not a good experience. The pool bar staff were good except for one guy who argued w my husband when he ordered a “Virgin daiquiri” and received it with alcohol. The bartender then lectured him on how to order it to achieve no alcohol next time, although that’s how we had been ordering all week. It was just really unnecessary and insulting. One day after we got back from the beach, my husband was naked walking toward to bathroom shower by the front door and a worker just let himself in. My husband ran forward to slam the door to stop him and then he was gone. No apologies or explanation as to why he was entering our room unannounced, just gone. That was very unsettling. The level upgrade: The room is great & view unmatched. I would say if a good view is important to you then it’s worth the money for that. Top shelf liquor must be asked for and even then often not given. The level lounge is quite pathetic. A couple cookies in a jar, self service alcohol and really not a place to sit at all - Just a check-in area. The Bali bed reservation process is a little ridiculous. There is plenty of beach in the Level area that is not well used. The chairs that aren’t beds just have cheap umbrellas; which makes sitting in the non level area more desirable for better shade (but no drink service). The drink service in the level area is convenient. The towel hut in the level area opens late in the morning and is out of towels by 2pm at the latest. Only being guaranteed 3 ala carte restaurant reservations is ridiculous. For the cost of this place one should not be expected to eat at the trough of a buffet for 4 days. Overall as you can read, we were displeased. For the money I wouldn’t recommend to anyone. It’s a 2 star hotel at a 4 star price.
