Royalton Punta Cana vs Royalton Blue Water

I've been to Royalton Bluewater (Montego Bay) and now Royalton Punta Cana and the differences are glaring. We showed up to Royalton Punta Cana July 2024 and there were renovations happening in the lobby and certain parts of the diamond club area (not a deal breaker but just a heads up). First off, the app is terrible. You're told to use the Royalton App to book your restaurant reservations but the app doesn't work. When I stayed at the Royalton Bluewater, our butler made all of our reservations and ensured we all sat together at the same time (10 people). Fast forward to Royalton Punta Cana, the wait to get into restaurants was 10-15 minutes even with reservations and we couldn't all sit together (Again 10 people) even though there were large tables available throughout our entire dinner. If you are going as a diamond club guest, do yourself a favor and skip the diamond club breakfast area. We went two times and they were both terrible. The first time we were told we had to eat and leave in 40 mins which wasn't a big deal since we were eager to go to the beach and pool however, after taking our order, we waited almost 1 and a half hours without our food being brought to us. We ended up grabbing some croissants for the kids and left. The second time we went to the diamond club breakfast area, i ordered a eggs benedict but ended up getting a hard boiled egg on toast. Our butler was OK. We communicated through WhatsApp and he was responsive. We didn't utilize him too often. The beach and pool were well kept. The beaches were clear of seaweed but be careful of the tide. The 2 pools available were well kept as well. The servers brought you drinks poolside and took back empty cups quite often to avoid clutter. To summarize, i'd suggest to spend a bit more money and go to Royalton Bluewater in Montego Bay Jamaica. All the rooms are ocean view and the service was outstanding. When staying at Punta Cana, SOME of the bartenders seemed as if you were an inconvenience to them. Others were very helpful and made you feel welcome. The food was good for what you would expect at an all inclusive. This place wasn't terrible but it definitely requires some improvement in terms of hospitality.

    Could Be Better

My partner & I stayed here for our friends' vow renewal. When initially viewing the room options, I was not pleased with the room selections available as you do not have the ability to select a room specifically with a balcony. I selected the luxury room choice that included the Diamond Club option. When arriving at the hotel, there were no signs in the main area to advise which line is for checking in/out. I initially stood in the first line, which was also the longest line, for about 20-30 minutes. Once I made it to the front, I was told the line was for checkout only and I needed to go the other line, which was now the longest line due to a large family checking in at the time. I go to stand in the other line for an HOUR to only be told that I needed to go to the Diamond Club Lounge where the check in is available for Diamond Club members. Now, again, there is no indication anywhere as to where to go for check in, let alone for Diamond Club members. I'm then taken to the Diamond Club Lounge and asked to sit and wait to be assisted. Unfortunately, after waiting for over an hour, I refused to wait any longer. I demanded to be checked in now to avoid any further waiting. I was taken to the front desk of the Diamond Club Lounge where I was then able to check in. A security deposit was mentioned after I handed over my card to pay for the stay. When making the reservation, viewing the FAQs, and my confirmation email, I was unable to locate the details of a security deposit, but luckily I was able to avoid that and agreed to paying for any extra charges that occur at checkout. Our butler arrived and showed us to our room. The butler was friendly and did advise of cool things to do. Once arriving at our room, I was disappointed. I did request a room on the highest floor WITH a balcony. Although I do understand there is no guarantee with a room request, especially if you didn't select a specific room, but the room I received was on the first level and the view was TRASH. There was basically no view. We were like on the backside of the building where the majority of the people that frequented that area were those that worked at the resort. The food wasn't the greatest. The down button on our remote didn't work, which made it hard to use for accessing certain things like room service. However, an app is available to assist with the same options available on the television, so that was a plus. In order to communicate with the butler, you needed to use WhatsApp to send a text. I feel the resort should have an option through the app or a tablet in the rooms that allow you to easily communicate with the butler opposed to downloading a new app you're not familiar with. I like the idea of the Diamond Club option, but the features included I feel could be better. I've stayed at a resort before with a swim out room, for less, and received on demand service without needing to pay "extra". There's a lot of opportunity here, but overall, the resort looked nice and the butler was friendly.

    Look at other resorts !!!

I was having an ok time, despite average service here. I got really upset when after the first night, we noticed the air wasnt working. My mom is an older woman going through menopause so I tried to over look it, but tonight is unbearable, at this point I’d rather sleep outside. 2 employees have came to “fix it” but I can definitely say it is worse than yesterday. Worse experience ever!!! I just want to go home at this point >.<

I couldn't wait to get home. My clients exact words. Terrible!!!!

I am a Travel Agent writing this review on behalf of a client that just returned yesterday. First of all they were put in building 5 which is obviously in the middle of buildings under construction. For whatever reason they could not download the Royalton App therefore were not able to make dinner reservations. They tried getting help from their butler but to no avail. 4 out of 8 restaurants were open during their stay and they ate in 1. I know they spoke to as many people as possible and got no help. They had a swim out pool because they had a small child. She couldn't even get in the pool until they cleared nails and debris every day from their pool area from the construction. The diamond area was really non existent. They paid for Diamond Club and received nothing near Diamond Service. The resort is definitely undergoing something and should not have clients paying good money for lousy service, unopened restaurants, filthy pools, or construction. The 600 resort credit was basically worthless unless you went to their timeshare spill. They did not go so did not get the credits. I have been an agent for 30 years and have never had a review like this client. Obviously according to them there were many many people complaining. I am completely embarrassed that I sent them there. I will not send another client to a Royalton Resort. This is unacceptable and irresponsible to take the money of hard working people and put them in a construction zone with a useless butler. On top of that they said the food was terrible but unfortunately they were only able to eat at the buffet because they couldn't get restaurant reservations. One last thing their room was rarely cleaned. You are obviously understaffed and should take care of this problem before booking the hotel to a capacity that you are not able to provide good service to.

Beautiful beach and resort will come back soon!!!!

Our butler Ernesto is the best. He took care of our family for the week. We had a family trip of 14 members and he made sure we had everything ready and what we needed. We will definitely be back and request Ernesto. If Ernesto is not working we will book when he is working. The resort is beautiful and the food was great especially the BBQ on the beach and Hunters Steak House. The drinks were great!!!
