Not the best but not the worst

For all intents and purposes (a place to lay my head & sleep), my stay at Outrigger was favorable. I arrived 5ish hours before check-in. They allowed us to enjoy the amenities. They gave us beach towels and held our luggage until our room was ready. Once the room was ready, they called me and let me know. When we arrived to the room, the door lock was not operating well. We had to call maintenance. They never repaired the door lock to working order. The carpets were stained in multiple places. The furniture looked like it was all from different yard sales because it didn’t match. The carpet felt as if there was no padding. The mattress were worn out, as were the pillows. Water pressure in my room was really weak….. and it never really ever got warmer! The pools and the grounds were beautifully manicured. Breakfast was buffet style and was the same exact thing each day. It was definitely NOT worth $35/person! My favorite part was most definitely walking the beach… but couldn’t do much of that (not enough beach,) and the fireworks shows on Friday nights! Outrigger IS undergoing a face lift so I hope it’s better for future patrons, as I likely won’t be back any time soon.

    Pros and cons of Outrigger

The OUTRIGGER is an older resort, needing some upkeep and upgrades, but don't we all? Very helpful port-cohere valets, front desk, etc. However, to note: the rate you SEE here is not the REAL rate as: 1. EVERYONE who has a car, and a car is needed to get around, must pay $35 plus tax, per night of your stay. 2. If you are staying in an "owner marketed" place, then you don't have to pay the additional $25 resort fee. Lobby area looks neat, but when one goes down the stairs towards the spa, it is evident that the tile floor needs replacing. Chipped and stained. The gym is not sanitary. At all. Missing 15lb weights, and a filthy weight rack with dust and rust. The treadmill is rusted out on the sides. The elliptical works, and has an iPhone and headphone jack insert. You'll be in luck if the iPhone you have is the original with the 3/4 inch charging socket. Windows looking to the outsides are in need of a cleaning as it is difficult to enjoy the view of opposing condos and "lake" through the dirt/rain speckled glass. Baseboards collect dust. Location: Great! Close enough to the airport. Amenities: Great! Plenty of pools, and a couple of hot tubs (which get very crowded) Room we stayed in: Also in need of updates. The host was responsive in taking care of maintenance issues (one broken lightbulb, one dead bulb, a wonky slider that didn't close/lock well until WD40 was sprayed on it. Safe didn't lock but "we didn't advertise there was a safe..." Would I stay there again? Only on flight nights. At a better rate. Photos are in my cell phone. I'll try to add them later.

    Relaxing Stay on Kauai

We booked our stay at Outrigger Kauai by happy circumstance - our initial hotel was unable to accommodate our dates last minute. Despite the hesitation from reading some of the reviews, our stay was quite relaxing and pleasant! Admittedly, the space could holistically use a renovation, but that did not detract much from our overall experience. The service, particularly by Jolene at the Front Desk and Marilou at the Shutters Lounge, was outstanding! Everyone that we interacted with was extremely friendly, professional, and welcoming. Additionally, housekeeping was prompt and did a fantastic job and turning the room around, allowing us to come back to a clean room after a long day out. The team at the coffee shop and hut by the pool were also quick and kind. While the resort could use some TLC (especially the fitness center), it was very well-maintained and beautiful. It offered a nice reprieve from the stressors of the mainland, and I looked forward to the daily yoga on the ocean lawn, followed by a long walk on the beach behind the property. My only feedback that I hope the hotel would please take into consideration is implementing stricter rules regarding noise - we had neighbors who were screaming and running up and down the hallway, hitting guest doors constantly between 10:00 PM - 11:00 PM. Please enforce some sort of regulations or security so that the peace and comfort of your other guests is NOT hindered by the disrespect of some poorly behaved visitors.

Offer good value, with clean and spacious rooms. The oceanfront location is stunning, providing beautiful views!

Overall, I found the hotel to offer good value, with clean and spacious rooms. The oceanfront location is stunning, providing beautiful views and opportunities for beach walks and yoga. There were several highlights during my stay: The swimming pools were excellent The beachfront, while not suitable for swimming, was picturesque Els, the cleaning lady on our floor, was exceptionally kind and helpful However, there are a few areas where improvements could be made: Sound insulation: The noise from the hallway was quite audible in the rooms. Website accuracy: Several activities were not held on the days listed on your website, causing us to miss out on ukulele and hula lessons. Please update this information to avoid disappointing guests. Dining options: More on-site restaurant choices would be appreciated, as we often needed to take Uber to find alternative dining spots. Yoga instruction: The yoga class led by Anya was disappointing and not up to the expected standard. I would suggest reviewing and possibly replacing this instructor. However, we truly enjoyed Erica R.'s yoga classes. Beach access: While the hotel's secluded location is pleasant, it would be nice to have a walking distance of swimmable beaches for guests. Despite these issues, I enjoyed the hotel's peaceful atmosphere and the scenic drive to the property. With some minor adjustments, I believe this hotel could provide an even better experience for future guests.

Wonderful Hotel on Kauai - has wverything you will need

Stunning hotel with huge outdoor area, perfect for the kids and the whole family but also for couples because some areas are for adults only. Nice spa and fitness and very useful gift shop selling coffees etc. Rooms are spacious and very clean. We had an amazing pool and ocean view. Beds are super comfy. Very nice restaurants for breakfast, lunch or snacks and dinner. Fresh products nicely cooked, highly recommended for dine in option. Overall we had a great time at Outrigger Kauai and will try to come back soon!
