A Break from the Winter Rain
I booked in a Partial Ocean view room through Costco. Our stay we very nice, room was comfortable and clean. Great service and a fantastic bed. Buffet breakfast was included and was very good. We'll stay here again.
Convenient and relaxing resort
Our family stayed at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott over the holidays. It was a nice resort that is convenient to two shopping centers that had places to eat and shop. The rooms were relatively spacious and well maintained. For those traveling with young children, there are handheld shower heads and a night light. However, the night light uses a blue light so it was counterproductive. In addition, the wall connecting the bathroom to the rest of the room is an opaque window so if anyone turns on the light in the bathroom, the whole room becomes very bright. The room has a small mini refrigerator which was nice. The resort has three main pools that seem heated. The largest pool is the infinity pool was the warmest. There is a cool sand pool that basically had a sand bottom that is connected to a regular smaller pool. The last pool is for the slide, but the water in that pool was very cold. Also, slide users need to be 42 inches tall. The beach is about a 5-10 minute walk from the pool area. The beach area was a decent size. There is a little kiosk that rents out snorkel gear and what not. There were other amenities that we did not utilize. Overall the resort was nice and we would stay there again.
This is a lovely property, with gorgeous views and landscaping. There is a great pool complex, with one pool that is heated, which my children loved. While the beach is stunning, there are many rocks upon entrance, so it is not very easy to swim. However, it is very calm by Hawaii standards, making it good for kids. Additionally, we were able to watch sea turtles sunning themselves on the rocks, which was a hit with the family! The hotel has a very nice, complimentary activity program for children (and adults too) which includes lei-making and shell decorating. The woman who runs this is lovely (and I'm sorry I can't remember her name). The property is located within walking distance to the Island Gourmet in the King's Shops, which has everything you need to make dinner or grab take-out. This is a nice alternative to meals out. The Lava Lava Club (which is awesome) is also in walking distance. Overall, we had a great stay and would be happy to return.
Great Service (review excludes Hawaii Calls)
My husband, who is a Titanium Elite Marriott Bonvoy member, and I stayed at this hotel for our honeymoon. Prior to coming to the hotel, my husband's Marriott ambassador, Carter Carvalho, made himself available prior and during our stay at the location. Upon checking in, Carter also came to greet us, demonstrating his commitment to us enjoying our time at the hotel and showing he truly wanted to enhance our experience. As part of my husband's suite night rewards, we received an upgrade to a very nice room in the Na Hale building, complete with an outdoor shower, kitchen, and a great deal of space. Further, Carter went above and beyond by delivering a kind welcome gift to us to help celebrate our honeymoon and show us Kona kindness; he also helped us secure a premier seat for the luau, which we had difficulty setting up when we were booking our luau ticket prior to the trip. Overall, this hotel was very nice and all the core Marriott staff treated us very well. Note: this review is not applicable to Hawaii Calls -- service is atrocious at that restaurant (warranting a separate review). I would highly recommend this hotel if you are in Kona; if you are looking to stay at a Marriott property, this one is much better than the Sheraton in Kona.
Great location and a nice resort
Staff overall was very friendly and accommodating. Resort is big, but not too big. Plenty of activities on the beach for all. Rooms were nice. Biggest plus is that it is in walking distance to a lot of restaurants (Queens Market and Kings shops ) are so close.
