Honeymoon in Maui
We initially chose here for the looks of the pool and Hyatts reputation and we were not disappointed! Excellent service, SOnz was excellent food (it's expensive, but you get what you pay for, great filet mignon!)
Can't Wait to Visit Again!
Love everything about this property! Location is perfect and the views cannot be beat. Sichi, Assistant Director of Rooms was so helpful and really made our stay extra special! Really enjoyed the food, drinks and service at the pool bar. Love that they have penguins and parrots on property!
Tired Property Needs New Owner
This is a Charter Property on "The Row." It cannot possible compete with the Marriott or the Westin or even the Sheraton. It may compete with the other old properties but why be satisfied with being minimally adequate?? Rooms were dirty. Elevators were dark. Floors were dirty.
We’ve stayed at this resort several times and always have a great time. The property is beautiful and well maintained. The pool is gorgeous with easy access to the beach. The food at all of the restaurants was delicious and bar service at the pool was fast. Renovations were happening in one of the towers but you would have never noticed. In fact, the resort was quieter than usual due to the decreased room availability. The rooms themselves are clean and perfectly adequate, so I don’t understand the negative posts. You’re in Maui, why waste time in your hotel room? People will find anything to complain about.
Very nice hotel
We paid a bit extra and got an oceanfront room on a high floor. It had two queen beds and a balcony with chairs where we could sit and enjoy the ocean, and especially watching the sun set in the evening. There appear to be three buildings in the complex. We were on the 21st floor in the main building, which contains floors 14-22. I assume floors 1-13 are in the other buildings and cannot speak to the quality or condition of the other two buildings. The hotel is at the start of the strip in Lahania. Once can walk up the beach in the sand or on a sidewalk to other hotels, restaurants, Starbucks and Whaler's Village, where we were able to catch catamarans for snorkeling trips. The beach in front of the hotel is a bit shallow, and there are rocks in the water out 10 feet or so, but on the right side of the hotel area (facing the beach) there is an area with no rocks and only sand where it is easy to swim out and snorkel. There are fish and turtles in the water one can see when the water is calm (not a lot of waves). The undertow can be strong though when it is more windy and rough. There are two good restaurants in the hotel: Japengo is a terrific Japanese restaurant, and we ate there multiple times during our stay. We could not get reservations, but were able to get an indoor table in the sushi bar area without a reservation each time with little or no wait. The steakhouse was also quite good. There is no free coffee in the lobby so one must go to the coffee shop in the lobby where coffee is quite expensive ($5.75 for a 16 oz cup of brewed black coffee). There are a number of shops on the first floor including a small Macys that offers beach and swim wear. The staff were all very attentive and welcoming and the hotel was spotless and very well kept. Overall, we were very happy with the hotel and our room and would go there again.
