    Great time, even with Hurricane

Wonderful beaches, restaurants, and weather, even with Hurricane Humberto. Ultra beautiful and relaxing beaches. Enjoy the view of the ocean from your cottage's own back patio. Great swimming and wading on gradually increasing depths. The staff very friendly, chatty and helpful. They were very organized for the big hurricane. They had a big all-guest meeting, with ample brown bag dinners for all while we hunkered down in our cottages. All construction on the site very solid and safe and incurred very moderate outside damage. Guests safe at all times. Best weather of the year the next day.

    Breathtakingly beautiful

My husband and I stayed here for three nights in July and were upgraded to a suite with beach access. For a very reasonable rate we had access to a small semi-private lawn with patio furniture and lounge chairs with views of the beach. This was a great perk, as we really enjoyed lounging outside after dinner or after returning from the beach or pool. The resort itself is very nice, a little tired in parts, but that seems to be commonplace in Bermuda. The staff was all incredibly nice and welcoming; though food options are a little limited and pretty pricey. We really enjoyed the ability to dine right on the oceanfront. The beaches were also really nice and had free water hammocks that were easy to grab periodically when they freed up.

    Another Good Spot in Bermuda

My wife and I visited for four nights and were upgraded to a two room suite. This is a unique property in that it's very old and ornate and the grounds are quite large and very green. Our room was a "duplex" and had another suite attached to it with a common wall, but everything was whisper quiet. Our deck and patio had an excellent view of the bay. Most of the staff was quite good, very friendly and definitely helpful. They had gone into their slow season, but it still felt liked they were staffed appropriately. Our suite was very clean and the WIFI worked well in the room. TV reception was just average. Breakfast was included in our package and it was good (not great). Over the five days we were there, there were no changes to the breakfast offerings...same food every day. A few items that weren't great: 1-the beach bar, the pool area and the casual dinner areas were all serviced by the same menu each day. The food was good and it was a sizable menu, just needed some changing up. The more formal restaurant was good and the food offerings were prepared well. The internet on the beach was out a couple of days which created some work issues for me; however, the resort is returning to normal after the hurricane so that will likely get better. There is a small town about a ten minute walk away. Hit up Woody's or Country Squire if you want a change of pace. Talk to the people of Bermuda. Everybody is so friendly and helpful. Also, we would definitely go back to Cambridge. For those of you that have stayed at The Reefs, it comparable although we preferred The Reefs just a bit over Cambridge. However, Cambridge is a bit more walkable than the Reefs. Also, the prices seemed really expensive everywhere. Dinner and drinks will set you back $75-$100 US and I was really surprised that no afternoon team/snack was offered. Usually coffee, tea and water is always offered and water was the only thing available in reception.

A private and secluded piece of Bermuda!

Our overall experience at Cambridge Beaches was top notch. We were greeted with professionalism and friendliness from all the staff during our entire stay (7 days) at this resort. To top that off, we also got a free room upgrade which was amazing and unexpected. Some key categories worth mentioning: Cleanliness: the resort and rooms are kept very clean. There's the regular morning room service and an evening turn-down service. We were supplied with ample towels and beach towels. Note, we did encounter 3 cockroaches that managed to sneak into our room (I suspect through the entrance door cracks - I saw one enter from there); my wife was pretty scared of these insects but I was able to take them out pretty easily. Sleep quality: the sleep quality here was not bad. The king size bed, options for soft/hard pillows, and curtains/blinds for every window made it very easy to sleep in. The only issue for us were the whistles from the tree frogs pretty much every evening... Amenities: since we came during low season (November), some of the amenities were not available - BBQ night, shuttle to bus stops etc. However, the indoor swimming pool/sauna/steam room was nice. We were also very happy with the breakfast (included with your stay) buffet. We ended up renting a scooter and kayak at the resort (operated by 3rd parties) with almost no issues. We did encounter a couple of items that I would like to highlight: 1) we rented the scooter for a 2-day period, I inquired about extending it by 1 day (did not sign anything to extend the rental) but return it after 2 days. However, we now have an additional charge on our credit card for the 3 day (we will be fighting this additional charge) because the Orleanders staff entered it into their system even though I told them I was only considering it! We also returned it within the 2-day period. 2) I paid $50 USD for the Kayak rental but later on their website, it was only advertised as $25/day - it's not expensive but made us feel cheated. Location: in hindsight, this is the issue with Cambridge Beaches. It's on the other side of the island from many of the popular spots such as Hamilton, Horseshoe Bay beaches etc. You're really limited in off resort activities and dining options unless you take a taxi, bus or ride a scooter - the only walking distance restaurants are takeout places or fast food. If you stay near Hamilton, you will have a lot more options for dining.
