    Put this resort on your bucket list!

    Is it time to disconnect and get off the grid? This is your place! ZPLB was a wonderful spot to relax the resort was beautiful and the staff was attentive. We stayed in an ocean view romantic suite which had a beautiful terrace with a day bed which was perfect to listen to the waves and read a book. Everything was top notch. The food was fantastic. They even catered to my special request for dinner one night. The one thing that I would ask of them is that they let you know if one of the three restaurants on site is closed. We never got to eat at Canoa because the night we set aside to eat there it was closed.

    I never Made it to Zoetry, because they messed up my HONEYMOON reservation!

    Unfortunately, I never got to experience the hotel. My husband and I booked the hotel in October 2019, for our December 2019 honeymoon. 16 days before arrival, I called to make the final deposit, that was due in 2 days. The agent proceeded to tell me, that my honeymoon reservation was only booked for 1 person, not 2, and the price would double for the room we booked, if we wanted to still stay there. Here are a few things to note about this issue: 1. I work in hotels, and my specialty is the process of booking reservations online, so know how the process works, and when there are issues 2. The online booking engine defaults to 2 people, which is what we booked. 3. The email confirmation letter we received, didn't indicate the number of adults on the reservation, so therefore, we wouldn't have caught the issue 4. We had notes all over the reservation, that this was our honeymoon (implies 2 people) 5. I had worked with the hotel to book transportation for 2 people to/from the airport, for our reservation there were so many opportunities for the hotel to have figured this out, besides when I just happened to call to make final payment...2 weeks before my honeymoon! I followed the instructions of the reservations person I spoke to, and emailed the reservations team at AMResorts, and called a different reservation line. Both, which resulted in NO RESPONSES. I also called the hotel, and left a voicemail for the General Manager, who also DID NOT RESPOND. We ended up cancelling within 40 hours of discovering this issue, and lost a portion of our deposit. Again, still, no one has responded to me. This is all totally acceptable. We fortunately found another hotel in the DR, to go on our honeymoon, for the same dates. I can't imagine how much of a disaster this would have been, when we arrived at the hotel, for a reservation for 1, for our honeymoon and not been able to pay for the 2nd person. I would highly recommend, that if you book this hotel, you call someone, and verify all of the information is correct. Their systems cannot be trusted.

    Fabulous for Relaxing and Slower Paced Visitors

    My husband and I just returned from 6 days at Zoetry--we had a wonderful trip. We were celebrating that we have survived the first year of parenthood! Just the two of us--left our baby at home with grandma. The resort is lovely. The resort has four peacocks who roam the grounds, lots of iguanas and coati. And the resort owns parrots that are set out daily around the public walkways. It's very peaceful--no partiers or loud families with children. Most guests are just zoned out--chilling by the pool or beach. This is a not a resort with activities planned every minute. Some people left the resort for excursions but I would recommend just planning to stay and relax. They have relaxing spa amenities (saunas, jacuzzi, natural saltwater pool) and a Temazcal Ceremony. Bring books and prepare to read, relax, nap, drink, and soak in the fresh air and sun. Food was fantastic--our favorite was the Mexican food. Also, there are not many options. There are only 3 restaurants and sometimes only 1 or 2 were open each day. But all 3 were terrific. No disappointments! Some reviews mentioned the wine was low quality--my husband and I had the house wine every night and it was just fine. We also had lots of cocktails and some beer. Cocktails were not very strong, so we sometimes ordered additional shots and added them to the cocktails. Lots of water in between to stay hydrated in that sun too! Our suite was the most basic one and it was huge. We had a balcony and a terrace. Our bathroom had a shower, huge tub, separate toilet, two sinks, good sized closets and a small garden. King size bed (quite high off the ground) and a living room with seating for 6. Our room had incense. Plenty of space for 6 days. The suites are slightly removed from the resort area so plan to walk a few moments or take a golf cart ride to your room. There are some activities--we did a catamaran ride, participated in a cooking class, did a tequila tasting and cigar-rolling. But you have to seek out the activities. Stop in the library daily to find out what's going on. Otherwise they really leave you alone and let you plan your own stay. It was so nice and peaceful. The resort has a big focus on being environmentally friendly as well. We had an amazing time and I would recommend it for travelers looking to slow down and relax and recharge. Not for everyone--this is the not a resort for fast-paced, high-energy or people who need lots and lots of planned activities and nightly entertainment, etc. But if you need to take a break from life and slow down for a bit this is the place for you! :)

    Almost perfect, again

    This was our second stay at this resort. We love its quiet ambience, the friendliness of the staff, the large accommodations. However, we found that our food did not always come to the table hot, and the meat was often overcooked. And while I certainly do not want to be rushed at meal time, the service was perhaps a little too relaxed, with long waits between courses. In addition, and this was the same as last year, the exercise room has absolutely no a/c coming out of the vents. Consequently, it is stuffy, musty, and uninviting. Equipment is ok, but minimal for a top class resort. These concerns were passed on directly to the general manager, who assured me they would be taken care of.

    A great way to start a new decade

    My husband and I arrived New Years day after a long flight and were ready to unwind. This is the first time we have traveled at this time so the warmth in January was a welcome new sensation. The arrival was lovely and thorough and the room was lovely. All it promises on the site. Service is excellent. All the staff...clean team, wait staff, hosts, bar staff...the lot. Even the guy who was pest control was always smiling and giving us warm "Bis a bel"s when we crossed paths. Room is great, food is very good and the pool staff were some of the most attentive I have run across in my 55 years. There were some little hiccups but not worth mentioning. I have seen reviews from people saying the beach was full of seaweed...not on our stay. A full staff raked the beach from dawn to dusk as well as used a machine that ran up and down the beach so not sure where that other review was coming from? Another review was portions are too small. Not true. Portions were perfect. It's all inclusive, if you want more, order another dish...The one thing that should be noted is that it is very quiet. Zoetry is about focusing on your calm and wellness. If you want late nights, night clubs, loud pool activities and games and endless shots, go to Breathless. We welcomed the serenity and still met loads of great folks, had plenty of evening sessions with our new friends and even managed a little hang over or two. The excursions you can book through the Bonita group on site are worth it. Book your excursions by the pool as they are cheaper than booking with the tour company on site. Bottom line, it was good value for money and I have wonderful memories that will entice me to book again. Thanks to the great staff...had a great time! It was my 55th birthday as well and got a beautiful presentation in my room and nice treats in the restaurant as well.
