    Privilege Beach

    We come every year under the Privilege plan and have always loved it. The beach is wonderful with the individual cabanas on a raised wooden platform and provide great shade, especially for families with young children. However, we are very disappointed in the top resort management decision to remove the canvas roofs off the cabanas this year for the following reasons (in no particular order) 1. The roofs have theoretically been removed because of possible wind damage. It is windy from February through the end of May on this coast and the fact that there may be some damage means that upper management made a poor purchasing decision 2. Staff time was used to take the roofs down and will have to be used again to reinstall. We had 2 days where the wind gusts were around 35 mph. Today, the wind is much calmer but no one is re-installing the roofs 3. The beach should be busy given the number of Privilege guests at the resort but it is almost deserted 4. How are the Privilege sales staff selling a beach with no cover provided and no one on it? This is very poor optics 5. The bar is fully staffed but these poor people are making almost no money because of the upper management poor decision to basically close the beach. The staff rely on tips for a slightly better standard of living. This is directly hurting the people who provide great service to the guests 6. The beach is basically closed down at this point 7. There always used to be fruit skewers brought around every morning. Not this year. Is this another cost cutting measure by upper management to discourage people using their membership? 8. Are the cabanas going to be unusable between now and the end May if the roofs aren’t re-installed? 9. Who makes the decision to re-install and when? If the roofs aren’t going to be re-installed, what other options are available to provide necessary shade? Upper management - we are very disappointed in you. You are not doing a good job. Do better and fix this problem. And please don’t wait for another month or two. Today would be good to fix it

    Fabulous Family Vacation!

    I would like to start by saying I wish I could give this resort a higher rating than 5. Everything about it was absolutely wonderful and we are already planning another vacation there next year! It was our first family vacation in a few years and none of us had ever been to Mexico so I did plenty of research before choosing this resort. It was a good choice. Eduardo checked us in and was very accommodating. He found us three rooms in Villa 68 in the adult only section, close to the affinity pool and small beach area. The location could not have been better. Jose provided mini-bar service for our villa and was very friendly. Our room was kept clean and tidy as was the entire villa and surrounding grounds. The sports and entertainment team were amazing. In particular, Heli who could not do enough to accommodate our every request including opening the Sports Bar early so that my husband and sons could watch Premier League Soccer. Our daughter took advantage of the exercise classes including the morning work out circuit, Yoga and Pilates with Lucy who she raved about. We had four a la carte dinners: Arlequin and Frutos Del Mar at Akumal, and Mashua and Mikado at Coba. Each restaurant offered a unique menu and eating experience. The food, presentation and service was of high quality at each. Christian was our server at Mashua and he made our evening special with his sense of humour and attention to detail. At Mikado, don't forget to book a Teppanyaki show table to add some entertainment to a fabulous meal. The resort is large with two beaches and several pools which made it easy to find a quiet nook or busy hub to hang out in. The nightly entertainment was even better than expected and after each performance in the main theatre there was a smaller show just outside the lobby which we really enjoyed, in particular, the Abba Tribute. I cannot say enough about the staff. They were friendly, courteous and always smiling. We were made to feel comfortable and cared for throughout our entire stay and we cannot wait to return next year!

    Amazing staff!!!

    Being at this resort for 14 days was just not enough time to enjoy all that it has to offer. We are already planning to go back next February First of all, the staff are amazing. Every staff member was respectful and pleasant, but these people stood out for us. Being greeted by Jessica's smile every day at the buffet, Blanca and Yam's service in the buffet or beach restaurants, Ester at reception and Valentino or Brandon for entertainment was a wonderful treat for us. The butler service sorted out our mini bar situation and we really enjoyed our experience! The food is plentiful, appealing and delicious. Even after two weeks we were not tired of the buffet. Swimming and snorkeling and the many safe beach areas was a daily activity for us. Bars and service were everywhere along the beach. Water shoes are a must. Loved, loved, loved this resort!

    HUGE Resort, great vacation!

    Its HUGE....you have 4 different hotels on one resort that you can choose from and all are very comparable. You will likely utilize the golf carts to be taken driven around the resort or walk like we do. Ala carts were good, with the Japanese being the highlight. Buffet was great! Infinity pool is where we spent most of our time and loved it there. If your looking for a place you can walk from the beach right into the ocean, this isn't your place but it has everything else. It has a rocky shore with a man made beach. Casino was a absolute con job. Cashed in peso's and should have got $34 in chips yet they use a different exchange and only gave us $28. Then when you cash your chips in, they charge a tax! So I got burned on another $5. This is the only reason I'm giving this place 4 stars, other than that, its a 5 all the way! Gym was poor. Only 1 treadmill working but I will say its better than what most resorts have. Entertainment was very good. The best of any resort we've been to! Tennis courts were very good! Stay away from the casino and I would recommend it!

    Don’t stay here

    Having stayed at many all inclusive hotels both in Mexico and around the Caribbean, I can honestly say that this was the worst all inclusive that I have ever stayed at. The food in the buffets was not edible, the staff were rude and every request was treated as an effort. We paid for the upgrades for the concierge and butler service and found there to be zero benefit. We didn’t meet our butler until day 3 and he was useless in getting us reservations at any of the restaurants. Pool side bars were not open every day, depending on which pool you were at, so it was a hike to get a drink. Overall, we made the most of our trip and enjoyed being in the sun, but would not recommend this hotel and you would do better to stay anywhere else.
