    Nice stay

We arrived at hotel ready for some relaxation after a 24 hour delay. The receptionist could not find our reservation until I said we are 24 hours late (surely you would think the travel company would communicate this). Anyway after check-in given room 7122, the room itself was clean and spacious, no view from this room and balcony dated, this was not a problem as we don't go on holiday to sit on the balcony. Pools amazing. Beach at the Akumal lovely and lots of fish to be seen, no evidence of seaweed. We ate breakfast and Lunch at Los Caroles - food nice, service was hit and miss out of 5 days we had no cutlery in the table for 3 of the sittings and waited at least 20 mins before asking someone to clean table and provide us with cutlery. The best service we had was in Brian's section we should have asked to go in that section everyday. Ala'cartes we ate in Los Caroles one night - disappointing and had an upset stomach afterwards. Japanese show table at Coba - amazing and lovely food. Best meal for food and Service was Dolce Vita - this was amazing. Ate in the the main Buffett twice this was nice and twice in the sports bar - first time good, second time not so good. Staff are again hit and miss I would say some being nice and others not so much. I think it depends on if you are a regular and how big you tip which is a shame. All in all nice resort, with lovely food and some good staff

    Amazing hotel

Came down to the Gran Bahia Luxury Akumal to get away from the harsh Canadian winters and I have been extremely pleased with my stay! The food is excellent, the service is on point, the staff has been extremely friendly (except for one towel guy who always looks mad) Our mini bar gets replenished everyday, the beaches are nice although quite rocky not the soft soft sand everywhere that I would like. The pools are clean, the grounds are clean and the rooms are clean and comfy (great A/C) would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking to spend some time on the Mayan riviera in Mexico

    Wonderful

Usually after a 2 week holiday I am ready to return home but not here, this was the most relaxing holiday my wife and I have ever experienced. Our room was lovely with a great view from the balcony, cleaned every day and mini bar restocked.we had breakfast every day at los corales which has a lovely view of the sea with a nice breeze, you don’t have to get up at the crack of dawn to get a sunbed with shade here as there are numerous options here with choice of pools and beaches. We really enjoyed the food in the snack bar at lunch which has a lot of options and never struggled to get a table, sports bar is fantastic with a wide range of drinks and numerous screens they even showed the six nations , bonus!!. We tried a few a la cartes all were good with the exception of the don pablo where my wife’s “chateau briand ” was so bad the waiter without us asking brought her out a New York steak which wasn’t even on the menu and my main meal was 4 prawns on a bed of ambrosia creamed rice, truly awful.you will see a lot of wild life here in the beautiful gardens from Mexican badgers to Yucatan woodpeckers and iguanas best sight I saw was an osprey take a fish out of the sea. Wonderful. Beach was kept beautifully clean with a couple of nice swimming areas, if you fancy a day out to playa del Carmen take the buggy to the hacienda and catch the collectivo 40 pesos each way and it’s just as quick as a taxi as they drive like ayrton senna for lunch in pdc go to ferrons jerk chicken you won’t be disappointed. Loved the mariachi band on Thursday at the poolside but felt a bit sorry for them as people were ignoring them to stuff their faces with tacos. As a lot of people have commented this hotel is made by its staff they are fantastic, they are hard working ,friendly people so please tip them special thanks go out to braulio from the snack bar, smashing chap who was always helpful with my sketchy Spanish. To sum up don’t just sit there thinking about it BOOK THIS HOTEL you won’t regret it

    Ample Akumal

Whats not to love about staying in the Akumal, our experience was wonderful mainly because of the lovely staff especially at the adults only restaurant for breakfast and the 24hr restaurant for lunch they were so obliging and kind making sure amongst other things that I had grande glasses of Rose wine at lunch.Thank You. I also appreciated the hand gel available on arrival to each buffet style restaurant now that’s a first at any hotel I have stayed at. I loved the beach life at the Akumal. I did the Zumba each day on the pier the instructors were so enthusiastic and made it really enjoyable and on the plus side it helped me keep the calories at bay from the grande Rose I consumed at lunch. At times I felt like I was at a festival on the beach with the great live rock band and the brilliant salsa band it was nice to see people dancing and enjoying themselves, again something else I have not experienced on my travels. Big shout out to Gabriella in reception at the Akumal who was so helpful when booking the Al a Carte restaurants our favourite was the Mediterranean. Would I go back to the Akumal well no only because there is other places I would like to visit. Would I recommend the Akumal to my family and friends well it’s a big YES as I said in the beginning What’s Not To Love.

    Great beach vacation!

It was our third time at the Bahia Principe Akumal. Beach was amazing and very clean. Best part was the snorkling. There were fish everywhere and you could snorkle in waist deep water and see lots of fish.
