Just returned from a two week stay it was are third visit here. The service has not changed the staff are amazing always friendly and helpful. We stayed in a kingsize room which was very clean and was cleaned on a daily basis and most importantly the mini bar was replenished. The beach is amazing and there was always an activity to do if you wanted to ore just relax by one of the pools. We will definitely be going back again next year cant wait to book it.
A Home away from Home
This is our third trip to Akumal. We have always travelled with 6-8 adults and 2-4 children under 5. When we come back it’s like we never left. The service from the employees is outstanding. They know you by name and know what you order. They are fast and reliable. We arrived At the airport surprisingly to our own shuttle (8 adults and 4 kids) so it was a pleasant surprise. We were able to get to the resort and enjoy a lunch and a swim before check in. Check in was fast. We got exactly what we requested for room and a la cartes. Always something to eat at the buffets. We never really noticed the construction going on. Overall great week. Can’t wait to return!!!
Good and not so good
Room 6711- perfect location, bathroom needs updating, aircon iffy Pool - only used adults only infinity pool. Exvellent Breakfast - used Corales every day - good choice Lunch - used Corales every day - good choice Evening meal - used buffets which were good and booked 6 of the international restaurants during our stay. Arkequin was excellent, Mikado set menu was overcooked duck (we went at 5.30pm) and disappointing, Alux was overcooked elastic lobster (we went at 5.30pm again - maybe previous day leftovers). Still got Tapenyaki and Brazilian to go. Staff - excellent and friendly Overall - we would stay again, but I think improvements could/should be made.
Arrived oct 2019 as a couple Huge resort comprising of a further 2 hotels, coba and Tulum on site. 1 hotel off site sian Khan Immaculate extensive grounds and an excellent trolley system to get between hotels. After a 10 hr flight and 1hr 50 coach transfer made it to Akumal. Slow check in waited about 35 min but in fairness group arrived, other people reported swift check in, Jesus on check in very thorough and professional. Allocated block 54 and rooms tasteful but needed a freshen up. Musty smell on arrival but soon disappeared Some guests took small humidification bags to hang in wardrobe. Beds lovely and comfy. We upgraded to adults only block which is more modern and in my opinion a nicer room.separate shower and Jacuzzi bath. Los Caroles we used for morning buffet and occasionally lunch. Great selection of food including usual cold meats, cheese, omlettes, however I did miss the caviar Alma, Victor and all the staff worked so hard and always with a smile. Nothing too much trouble and always a Bucks Fizz (mimosa ) at the ready. Watch out for the birds if you sit outside as they are quick ..... Main restaurant again buffet style, lovely area and staff wonderful. Food sometimes not as hot but a microwave available. Definitely would not go hungry here. Al a Carte restaurant'sare beautiful but formal dress required. We tried Alux and Arlequin, stunning quality and ambience. Our favourite was Los Caroles as renovation work in progress at moment so this is the seafood restaurant at night. Lovely Juan Carlos and Jose looked after us very well and were true professionals. If visiting Si'an Khan take care especially with Mozzies, hubby did the golf and wad munched so a good repellant is a must. Room sevice , small choice but served beautifully Minibar stocked daily, coffee machine. Beach was kept lovely and clean, the unsung heros... beach cleaners and lifeguards, don't forget to tip these guys. Wear water shoes as rocky in some parts and stay in designated area as current can be strong. Pools are great Stayed mainly in infinaty pool as quieter. I thought was a decent amount of umbrellas around and gazebos. Pool bar opens at 10am and decent stock although generally around all bars all dri ks tended to need an extra dash of alcohol. ..just ask! !! Entertainment. ... finished bit early around 11pm however can go off Akumal site by trolley to disco but couldn't be bothered but a nice bit of chill out music (cd ) would have been nice. Shows a bit repetitive but the guys do their best and are enthusiastic. The best guy was Cesar from the animation team who did all the pool stuff around the adult pool. What a lovely bloke and so captivating with his audience and generally so passionate. A true entertainer..... All in all too many staff to mention but Grupo Pinero you should be proud of all your staff as they make this hotel and YOU as a company. Good value for money Booking for Akumal next year... Thank you guys xxcc
Having a terrible time
Just ate at La Dolce Vita and ordered a bottle of sparkling Sauvignon blanc for $24 which we were more than happy to pay for as the “Prosecco” on all inclusive leaves a lot to be desired. Wine came and they offered my partner a taste and he said it was fine. I accept he agreed it was fine (he likes sweet wines and knows nothing about wine). Upon my first sip I picked up the bottle as it was sweet with no real flavour for a SB. It was 5.5% crap and NOT what was advertised. A few discussions with various staff and they all thought that because the brand was the same that meant it was the wine we were drinking. It was absolutely NOT what we were drinking. The PR lady came and just kept saying “I understand” which she clearly did not. We then didn’t eat our mains as she came at the same time as them to talk to us and the evening was ruined anyway. It ended with me asking her to leave, then telling her to walk away as she didn’t seem to understand me not wanting to continue the discussion with her. Total rip off and con. False advertising at its best. Long story short we drank the lambrini equivalent wine and left without eating our mains (we were paying for the wine so weren’t leaving it!!). I’m sure the hotel will reply and tell me they understand my disappointment but I know they don’t and it will be an empty apology. Photos below for proof.
