By far the largest all inclusive resort we have been too. This will be an easy review.

Although the resort is a long ride from the airport it was definitely worth the ride. We wanted to stay close to Tulum as we had never seen the ruins there. The hotel property is very expansive. They have many shuttles to move you about the property. We were in a unit about an eight min walk from the beach. We were whisked through the check in at 9:45 pm. Our luggage was loaded and we were at the room before 10pm. The porter said that the buffet was closed but the beach restaurant was open. We stowed the luggage in the room and he took us to the beach restaurant. WELL - this is an outdoor cafe with lots of seating. Ribs, chicken fish, fries salads etc. etc. The food was great. Throughout our stay we ate there for lunch and not the main buffet. I want to make one thing clear, at no time during the stay did we have a bad interaction with any staff. Whether it was front desk, cleanup crew, bartenders or the transportation group all were polite and efficient Pro's - the buffet was huge.. there was seating for 1000 people. The food was great and the servers very professional. - the bars all had top named hard liquors - after dinner entertainment was very good. once it was over you could walk to the theater for their shows. - the rooms were very comfortable, beds new, maids great. - the pool area is also massive. this property had the best quality pool chairs that I have ever seen. There was always empty chairs around the 3 pools. It was the same with the beach - could always find empty chairs with shade. - at no time did the AC fail. We had hot water at all times. Cons - the resort is under renovations so hopefully they fix these room problems. - the lighting was very poor in the room. All the lights worked but we needed a flashlight to see into the safe and read pamphlets, day or nighttime. - there were to few outlets for charging phones , computers etc. - The safe style has been around for 30 + years. The big metal key in the locking mechanism was difficult so safely store the while at the beach or pool. The new safes where you program you own password are much better. Our key stuck in the lock and had to be replaced, done very quickly. We went to an ala carte restaurant, Cozumel, in the Bahia Coba. it is a 10 min drive from the Tulum lobby. The waiter asked us what we would like to drink. We said Hennessy Cognac , as our bars had it. He said he would check. When he came back he had 2 glasses of brandy. Neither of us liked the taste. About ten minutes later the waiter came in with a bottle of Hennessy and served us. He had sent someone to a larger bar to get a bottle for us. Unbelievable. The pork done in a strawberry and brandy sauce was also great.

    Another great vacation

Just going home from 2 weeks here. Other than a small glitch getting the fridge fixed in our room we had another great vacation at Bahia Principe, our 7th between Tulum and Akumel. The theatre shows have all been updated and are a lot better than previous years. We recieved great service from all areas and staff at the resort, but would like to thank the following for superb service, Maria from the entertainment group, Gumercindo, Francisco and Hipolito at the Tulum buffet, Gustavo on the pool deck, Luis at LeGourmet, Roberto at Rodigio and Antonio at Cozumel restaurants, and Desey at the Bahia Spa. The resort is kept very clean by all of the hard working staff. Looking forward to our next trip here to see the improvements that are planned for in the near future.

    Our week over New Years

Where to even begin...we stayed over New Years week and had a wonderful vacation. Everything in room was in good working order, restocked daily, and housekeeping staff did a great job. New Year’s Eve buffet was outstanding! mango margaritas and mojitos were fabulous. I can not say enough good things about this resort and would not hesitate visiting again, or recommending to anyone. We tried 3 of the alacartes and did enjoy them but found the food at the buffet to be just as good. All of the staff we dealt with throughout our stay were very friendly and helpful. The only issue we encountered was some sort of domestic dispute happening a couple of doors down in our villa building....we called the desk and someone was sent out immediately. Thanks to the resort for the speedy response. If anyone has any questions please feel free to message me
