6 Night Stay
We were on a business rewards trip with our 13 year old son. The results were mixed. This was our second stay. For some reason, it takes forever to check in, long lines and a lengthy period to finalize paperwork (I think 9 signatures) once you are at the desk. Some of the service was excellent, specifically at the pool area. Restaurant reservations were difficult. We had 2 bad experiences at Frida with large parties (12). In one case we make a walk in reservation and the other we made in advance. I don't think large parties is their thing but it could have been handled much better. The first time I was lied to (told I only asked for a party of 5). I verified multiple times it was for 12. When I came back at the specified time, I was told the reservation was for 5 and that they had explained it would be best efforts only. This conversation never happened. This resort is a decent value. The service is mixed and the food is average at best. Just have the right expectations.
Great for active families
We have 3 boys aged 14, 11 and 9. Check in was quick. Whenever we called the front desk for anything they would follow up with us to ensure that our request was fulfilled. We found the joined family bedrooms (Sky terrace) had sufficient space even with the rollaway bed. There is a bathtub in the middle of the kids room which is a little odd if you have older kids. Rooms were dark and quiet. There were plenty of activities for us including the waterpark and water slides, volleyball, zip line, rock climbing and snorkeling. The beach is cut off from the sea by a a rock wall so the water is pretty calm. Our kids enjoy playing in big waves so this was a small downside for us, but it does make the snorkeling safe and easy and there were plenty of fish. The volleyball is away from the beach and is a thin layer of sand over concrete so if you dive you will end up with scraped knees. There is a set time for vball every day and at that time there was always a game, at other times it was variable. The entertainment team was very enthusiastic and friendly and really contributed to how much we enjoyed our stay. They did a great job with the zip line and rock climbing which were both a lot of fun. Special thanks to Samurai, baby shark, Mr. Boy, Jerry and the rest of the entertainment team. My kids loved Woodward and Wrecktangle. It's not included but you can use your resort credits so not that expensive. Staff there were also excellent and gave my kids a lot of 1 on 1 attention.
Our family of 4 (me, wife, kids - 11 and 13) really enjoyed the resort. It definitely has a rock theme (duh) and is the most “American-ized” resort we’ve been to in Mexico. (12 trips). It also the largest resort we’ve been to. We were Rock Royalty level which gave us a staff member to help with booking things... very helpful and 75% discount on spa and excursions. We had a couple message and hydro therapy - this is a must do! Food was ok; had better and had worse at other resorts. Portion sizes were small at the themed restaurants. Service was top notch! Caesar at the pool was amazing. He cared for our every need and was Johnny on the spot. As soon as we finished a drink he was there with another! Beach is nice and calm due to a rock wall barrier. Some people might not like this but I did. It made it possible for the kids to swim without constant over sight from me :)! Enjoy!
Great place for everyone!
Just came back from a great trip with my friends. Rooms were clean, food was amazing and we were never bored but still feel relaxed. The employees were nothing but great, from the guys who kept the beach clean to waiting staff at the restaurant were outstanding. Samurai, Gaby and April always had us up and having fun. Giancarlo always kept us hydrated at the pool. Joaquin and Cherrez at the sunshine bar were great and super friendly! Antonia at Frieda made my kids so comfortable, that was the only restaurant they wanted to eat at. Zen is also a fantastic experience! Ciao with Sosa and Manuel was a great dinner for Valentine’s Day! 5 star rating in my books for sure. Kids are already planning our trip back. Always things to do, to relaxing on the beach, snorkeling, kayaking, zip lining, rock spa is an experience all in itself, the best 90 I have ever spent! Even scuba training with Hannah was really fun! I highly recommend this trip for anyone!
