Loved this place.
I was so nervous to come here as I got caught up in reading the complaints on here. To set the record straight, if you’re the kind of person that doesn’t look for something to complain about in every situation you’re going to get by just fine at Sunscape. The bus ride is pretty lengthy. That’s the only downfall. Did it ruin my trip? Not at all. Totally worth the drive. When we got there we were greeted by Ricardo who brought our bags to our room. He continued to be a bright spirit that we continued to connect with during our time at the resort. The pools are beautiful, the beach is clear and breathtaking. Farid who looks after beach cleanup/ making sure you’re happy at all times is the kindest soul I’ve ever met. He was so passionate about his role and was so motivated by the smiles on the faces of the guests. I quite liked the food. Out of all of them, the tiki taco didnt quite do it for me. The food was a little bland, but maybe other guests have had better experiences there. We loved portofino and da Mario’s; the wood stove calzones were unreal. Windows buffet had great selection. I loved all of the house drinks at all of the bars. The rooms were beautiful, the weather was perfect, the staff made us feel like family. I have nothing but positive things to say about my stay at Sunscape Akumal.
We just spent a week in Akumal what a great time. The staff are above and beyond Ricardo in windows is the best. Always smiling and over the top to help. His whole team was top notch. The servers are excellent. The beach staff is always ready to get you anything. The wifi is the best. Connection is the best. Never bumped out. The entertainment was not the best. But the people they had poolside was good. But in the theatre it was poor. Bad sound Lights that shone in your eyes and gave you a headache. Poor fire show. But all in all a great resort. Rooms were fine. Maids were great. All the staff was super friendly and helpful. Coco cafe was great. The food was good. Sharkys bar mixed the best cocktails. Farid on the beach was very polite and helpful. Loved the people.
Wonderful Family Resort
The location of this resort is excellent. The staff couldn't be more helpful and accommodating. Our room was looking out to one giant window to the ocean! It was remarkable. The food could be better but it was good. We enjoyed the mix of international guests. The Sunscape Club could have better food options that varied throughout the day, so for example in the morning, lattes and high end breakfast foods, for lunch, special salads and small sandwiches, for evening, nicer appetizers and desserts. All in all, we had a great time!
Ruined family vacation
Never stay here! We arrived with our family and was given wrong rooms 3 times. We had booked 2 rooms, 1 king and 1 with queens and a crib adjacent each other as my parents were to babysit. The front desk server was so rude, dismissed my mother completely because she was a woman stating, “ this is mexico” threatening her in some way and only agreeing to speak with my father. They first gave us rooms 3 floors apart and one already had people in the room upon arrival. We then requested a change in room to have what was requested and was again met with disrespectful answer demanding to see out confirmation paperwork. We then walked to the room we were given and was told that there was no elevator to the third floor, mind you we have a 19 month old with a ton of required equipment. We again returned to the front desk and requested a room with elevator access and was told again that this was all they had. Upon arrival it was still only 1 king bed and had a huge unsafe crack in the window. They are incredibly rude and do not know how to do any form of customer services. Very disappointed.
We stayed in an ocean front room, walked right out on the beach. It was beautiful. The service was exceptional. Ricardo, Rual, Edwardo in the market cafe were exceptional. Lillian at De mario was very friendly. Noeli at the coco cafe is one of the friendliest persons i have ever meet. She makes you feel very welcome. The water took a very long time to get hot in the room. The bathroom is very small. But for the cost of staying there it is an exceptional value. Ivan at the beach bar makes some very good drinks. Jesus is very good at the lobby bar. The beach is very nice and has ample chairs for people.
