Limited Choice - too American
Great Staff, but the breakfast was for Americans, with overcooked bacon, no beans, no brown sauce, no proper sausages. Quite alot of Europeans are now going to mexico but wont be going to hotels that only cater for americans - sorry. Please be mexican not american. The Doctor also tried to give an IV for a mosquito bite !! I think they thought they would take as much of our travel insurance money as they could.
Had a wonderful time. The food was great. Atmosphere was wonderful. Jacuzzi tubs were a nice touch. Never felt crowded and the service was impeccable. The outside seafood restaurant is beautiful setting. The lobby activities are fun way to spend the evening. Hope to be able to afford to go again soon.
Excellent Resort (Dreams Riviera Cancun)
Fabulous pools and swim up bar. Good beach despite occasional seaweed which the resort worked at very hard to keep under control. Entertainment was better than good. We did not have a bad meal during our one week stay. Italian restaurant was our favorite. Morning buffet was fabulous.
I have recently returned from this hotel and I dont know where to begin! When you first drive up to the hotel you will probably have reservations, as I did, because this hotel doesnt have the grand entrance that many hotels in Mexico do, however do not be fooled. This hotel is amazingly welcoming and we were immediately given a quick tour of the hotel before our private check in at the preferred club. Then you are taken to your room, which I have to say was gorgeous with marble flooring and plush cushions, the bed was huge and extremely comfortable. The rooms are spacious and have a fantastic range of gratis amenities including top shelf alcohol that is re-stocked daily. During the day the resort has a quiet and peaceful feel and does not feel overly crowded, they have several beautiful pools as well as a lovely white sand beach. At night they have live music in the main lobby and the music lounge. There are shops inside the hotel so you dont have to leave if you dont want to and the hotel makes you feel as welcome and as comfortable as possible. The food is amazing and you are able to eat at any of the a la carte restaurants as many times as you like without reservations, unlike almost every other hotel or resort I have stayed in. These restaurants make you feel like royalty, pouring glasses of water and wine for you, pulling out your chair ect, everything you would expect from at top class restaurants here in the UK, but remember this is all free as part of your all inclusive. In the main buffet restaurant I would highly recommend looking for Santos, he is without a doubt a credit to this resort and his commitment and dedication to the guests is second to none! This man deserves a HUGE bonus! That brings me to my final note, the living wage in Mexico is extremely low compared to the UK, in countries with similar wages we have often felt pressured to tip in order to get good service, this is absolutely NOT the case here. You get outstanding service and even if you dont tip you will get the exact same service anyway. We began to tip all the time just because we felt the service was amazing (which we believe is why you should tip). In summary I would definitely recommend this hotel, it was the first time I have ever been genuinely sad to have to go home, already looking at booking for next year. Well done Dreams Riviera The Brooks-Fox boys
Just returned from the Dreams Riviera Cancun. The PROS: Irving at the front desk is very friendly and accommodating! Ricardo assisted me at the pool side when I started to trip! Iracema at the World Cafe is exceptional at customer service (i got flan to go to my room!). Enrique at Seaside Restaurant was efficient and attentive waiting us for dinner. Check in: We got an upgrade from tropical view to oceanfront master suite! Dinner at Himitsu (chicken pad thai) was the best ever! Alfredo a pool bar sure can make a yummy drink! The grounds are immaculate. Rooms are spacious and very clean! Now the CONS: Lobby is stuffy, need more fans. Dinner at Portofino was ruined by a family at a table nearby with a toddler who continuously cried/screamed the entire time we were there. The mother did NOTHING to calm/relax him. She didn't pick him up to calm him, she put a towel over the stroller to cover him. She should have left with him at that point or have been asked to try and console him outside and come back in? (UGH!!). I know it is family resort but maybe since there is an entertainment pool and children's pool....make the infinity pool with the swim up bar- an adult pool for adults to relax and visit - kids were dominating the whole space in every way possible (these are mostly the kids with no parents to control or supervise them!) Not too impressed with preferred lounge at all. I would recommend the entertainment team have more activities to be more involving with guests.
