Had an amazing anniversary trip
We enjoyed our week at Dreams Riviera Cancun very much. The resort was very beautiful, also the rooms. We had a jacuzzi in our room and also on the balcony. They cleaned our rooms everyday, and they refilled our fridge everyday and left some snacks, the food was mostly very delicious, specially the tortilla soup from El Patio. BEST tortilla soup I have ever tried! We also really enjoyed the hydrotherapy treatment at the spa which was included because we booked a preferred club room which had some extra amenities. The shows they offered every night were awesome! We were welcomed by Ivan, who made us feel at home. Next, Jennifer took very good care of us to explain everything about the resort and get us checked in. Our last dinner by sea side grill, Jesus, our waiter, gave us the best service ever. And offered to make us a great coffee drink for our dessert. We really enjoyed our stay. One thing we hadn't expected was that each day there would be at least one wedding or more, celebrating their receptions usually in the evening until late with loud music and dancing. Luckily our room was faced the other way so we could still sleep well. But over all, we really had a great time and recommend Dreams Riviera Cancun.
8th Stay at the Wonderful Dreams Riviera Cancun
Yes, this was our 8th vacation to Dreams Riviera Cancun. One might ask, why do we keep returning to this property with so many options available in the Mayan Riviera? First and foremost, the simple answer is the STAFF and the level of consistency across our "major areas" that we care most about; beach, food, quality drinks, quality accommodations, and cleanliness. This trip we were very pleased to see the return of the "Mexican Fiesta and Show" on Wednesday nights around the pool area. We have always loved this event and over the previous two years, this event was not scheduled. Also, we love how Dreams Riviera Cancun continues to offer additional options at the pool for lunch (Tortas, Tacos, Paella, etc.). Many people continue to inquire about the Beach status, as with most of our trips in February, this past week's beach conditions were basically great to excellent. Minimal seaweed, warm water temperatures, and staff cleaning the beach throughout the day. As I have already mentioned the staff this vacation were excellent and it was great to see many familiar faces. I want to extend a huge thank you to the following staff members for another great vacation: Aldofo: Preferred Club Manager Alfredo: El Patio Server Orlando: Bordeaux Server Armando: World Cafe Server Oliver: World Cafe Omelet Man Rafael: Preferred Club Beach Bar Octavio: Preferred Club Bar Lucas: Pool Life Guard Beatrice: Explorers Club Pedro and Santiago: Preferred Club Beach Israel: Beach Waiter/Server Mauricio: Beach Bar Most important is that these individuals truly do influence our/your vacation. They all work tirelessly to make your vacation an exceptional experience. Invest some of your time to get to know these wonderful people. Keep in mind a friendly conversation and tips go a long way. Over the years, we truly look forward to reconnecting with so many of these staff members! Our favorite restaurants once again were El Patio and Seaside for dinner, World Cafe for breakfast, and lunch this year we enjoyed the options poolside. We had a wonderful walk into Puerto Morelos for shopping and lunch at La Playita. La Playita was great. The walk is about 30-40 mins from Dreams. Overall, we had another wonderful experience this February once again. This trip we traveled with additional family and friends. Everyone truly enjoyed themselves!!!! Thank you Dreams Riviera Cancun and staff for another great week in paradise! Muchas Gracias!
not the best for families
the good: beautiful property, kind service, pretty good food the meh: more of a party vibe than a relax vibe Sure they claim to not allow spring breakers, but during my family’s 7 night visit here we’ve been kept awake every single night by wedding celebrations and their party goers. Those same party goers are drinking throughout the day from the moment they saddle up to the pool bar, and I can’t say I’d be surprised if they spent their spring breaks doing the same thing ten years ago at resorts like this one. Sure we go to bed way on the early side of the spectrum but I’ve never really considered the expectation of peace and quiet from inside your hotel room to be unreasonable. The atmosphere is certainly more “party” than “relax.” Lunchtime rolls around and dance music is blasted into the ears of anyone between the pool and the ocean. Perhaps it was just the time of year, I don’t know, but they appeared to be producing 2 weddings every day and it was quite an impressive operation. From what I observed, they were beautifully decorated and staged, and they have a few mariachi bands lined up for cocktail hour that don’t disappoint. The staff are very nice and work hard. There will be your occasional miscommunications which are understandable. I’d describe the level of service as “open to serving you but don’t expect every request to be perfectly met as you’d hope.” Management has unfortunately not empowered anyone in the outdoor restaurants to accommodate parties larger than 6, which made for an ongoing conundrum for our larger family. It’s also a challenge with small children to not be allowed to make reservations, or even show up ahead of your little ones to get a table, in order to avoid the chaos that ensues from asking for patience from a two year old. Everyone must be present to get seated. Again, the challenges of conforming to these rules multiply as you add small children and larger families into the mix. The food was good enough, sometimes much better. If you have high expectations for the asian restaurant then you’re doing this wrong. The mexican restaurant was very good. The buffet is really quite good with a ton of variety and actually healthy options if you’re interested in that. Every day at lunch time there’s a pool-side grill serving nachos, pizza, hot dogs and burgers - all of which are tasty and convenient both in their quickness and location. But the real hack is to wait a couple hours (sometime between noon and 2) and the taco bar will appear beside the rest of the aforementioned snacks. The taco bar rules. Every day it’s a slightly different offering but always delicious. Octopus was my fave but Al Pastor came close. You’re in Mexico – speak as much Spanish as you know so as to demonstrate that Americans aren’t intentionally jackasses that lack all self awareness of being guests in another country – and eat the tacos for christ’s sake. Entertainment at night was great when we could stay awake for it. During the early evening there is usually live music in the “lobby” that we enjoyed on many of the nights. Guitar/Vocal duos, jazz standards on trombone, jazz guitar, etc. The buffet is good, if not chaotic, for breakfast but there’s also an outdoor restaurant by the beach that had a harp player on many of the mornings, guitar player on others, and both sounded delightful. The rooms were great and I would have been happy to spend more time in mine if I’d been made to. They were attended to very well. We missed the window for turn down service a few times but what the hell is that for anyway? I’ve never really understood it. Our balcony had a bathtub, which is cute, but it’s totally on display to others so probably wear a bathing suit. Also it was a little filthy so maybe just skip it. My two year old is already filthy and frequently nude in public so he enjoyed it thoroughly. There’s in-room nespresso and glass bottles of domestic coca-cola with real sugar that I pay an embarrassing premium to treat myself to back home. Probably wouldn’t come back here with my family but we enjoyed it regardless. I owe a lot to my in-laws who provided all of this and additionally sprung for beach cabanas, probably one of the few possible locations for daytime, lazy respite. Shout out to our friendly and hard-working attendants Pedro and Leonardo.
