Well balanced resort
Resort has good restaurants, very nice beach front with ample chairs, water excursions available, clean pools. Close to city for good touring. Golf course right next door, resort did not enforce dress pants for men in restaurants
Sunscape February 2020
Beautiful beach, gentle slope to water can walk for miles in either direction. Service in Sunclub area was great Lunch Buffett by the beach in Castaways nice option & 2 bars available Found the sellers a bit annoying they were not aggressive Beach was clean & seaweed when it occurred cleaned up quickly Chairs are saved for hours even though signs posted Pools Main party pool Music & activities with swim up bar More umbrellas needed or shade areas again chairs saved early Lots of people smoking Towels are nice but Sunclub short supply Buffett: good variety no lineups Food was good Limited seafood fish options no shrimp lobster extra $ Fresh fruit salad chicken pork beef & vegetarian only issues getting coffee wine refills Restaurants Service was hit or miss need to improve attentiveness of staff people wandering but difficult to determine who is serving Pizza was good not open for lunch Drinks were ok Presidente Beer only option More real fruit juice please the bartenders were attentive Rooms:clean big good water temp pressure limited storage space Sunclub: recommend 2 small private pools service snack WIFI Overall was terrible even Sunclub Lobby: more chairs tables are needed for guests and music Grounds: nicely kept, hotel separated by mangroves from the beach It’s a nice resort to spend a week at the pool on the beach I would rate as a solid 3.75. Higher rating would be if the food and wifi improved. Price was good for what we received.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Everything was as listed in the brochures and the reviews we read. The room was exactly as listed and it was good. The food was good. Enjoyed the restaurants regularly. The servers when taking your order always accommodated any requests. The buffet... was a buffet. It had good options and themed nights... but really only ate at the buffet for breakfast and and once for lunch. Would be good if they had another location option for breakfast. Daily trips to the cafe for capuccino's occurred twice a day and for me were a must. Now... here is something I noticed... any size tip was always greatly appreciated... but it was never expect and I mean never. The majority of staff were very helpful. The down side of things the hotel was busy when I was there... but the beach staff always found a beach chair even if they had to pull it out of the Sunscape Club area. The beach is public so there were many vendors... jewelry... beach wraps, sunglasses and even massages and manicure or pedicure... But they were not aggressive in the approaching you... normally a simple shake of the head was enough for them not to approach you. I would suggest to anyone staying at this hotel to simply walk next door to the mall to check out prices first before buying on the beach. Make negotiations so easy when you can say... next door at the mall they are selling for... and all debate would stop.
4 week vacation
Stayed for 4 weeks, the pictures of none too clean shower, which is tepid at best and very low water pressure. The wardrobe just about big enough for mans shirt let alone a dress, Food is not great. No booking for Al a cartes first come first serve. Asian not great, I had 4 prawns in my main course. Italian OK, Steak House, good veggie burger and beach al a carte, not much for people who dont eat meat. Animation show is 45 mins and poor its not on until 9.30pm, there is no entertainment until then, other than children running around the stage. Afterwards, and 45 min wait its on to the Disco by the beach, at 11, a very rubbish disco, people up and dancing, DJ will then play a series of music nobody dances to, as picture shows, it is the only place after 1 to get a drink, until 2am. All night food is E. coli waiting to happen and it did. I think the dress code needs to be better managed in the evenings as to what is acceptable. The beach is lovely and a beach bar with food. Prices in the shops are insane. $20 for sunscreen, $25 for a blow up air bed. Always haggle with the beach vendors, they will come back to you. Trips are normally cheaper on the beach. The vendors have a number on their shirts, Catamaran trip popular have heard $68 to $72 in lobby and $50 on the beach, just saying. It would be lovely if some of the rooms had sea view. No Wifi only in the lobby area. Certainly not disabled friendly. 3 al a cartes upstairs, no lift just an old chair/stair lift and then you wouldn’t be able to get a wheelchair into restaurant due to 6* wood block at bottom of door frame and someone would have to carry a chair up the stairs. To get into the Buffet you have to knock on a side door and hope someone sees you to unlock it. No sure how you would be able to access the al a carte food and no access to food bar above the main pool due to steep stairs. Four weeks was too long I wouldn’t go back
We went again for the fourth year in a row for two weeks in the sunclub adult!!! The joy of seeing Juan and Francisco and the addition of Santiago that is a big plus. This guys works really hard especially with more and more people in the sunclub. Justino and Norberto are still in the family club but we missed Rafael.... Johaira and the girls are very busy too... the beach and the restaurant are always good!
