We stayed at The Reef for 6 nights with our 2 children (10 & 13). Our Topaz Suite was huge and comfortable for our family of 4. We loved having 2 full, large baths. The front desk people were accommodating and tried to get us the best view available. Our floor-to-ceiling view of the ocean was breathtaking. What a view to wake to! The pool staff were outstanding. MICHAEL, ANTONIO, and ZHIVAGO went above and beyond to make our days by the pool relaxed and stress-free. They greeted us with a smile at the beginning and end of each day and they also helped us find the best seats by the pool everyday. I would recommend making a stop at the grocery store before going to the hotel. Everything at the hotel store is 2-3x the prices back home (and we’re used to Boston prices). We packed basics in our luggage (granola bars, snacks, pancake mix) but got fresh fruit, bread, milk, and eggs at the grocery store on island. We also stocked up on wine and cocktails at the liquor store because there isn’t a bar at the Reef. The kitchen in our room was fully stocked with utensils and pots/pans, so we were able to make breakfast ourselves every morning. Overall, we had a wonderful vacation!
Amazing stay - 3rd time to Atlanris
Highly recommended for families. We stayed in a 2 bedroom ocean front condo. Amazing room, view and amenities. I would recommend the food package too. I’ve gotten to know the management here and have been really impressed with their eagerness to help and support my family to have an amazing vacation. Carey Turnquest and Henrico Ellis are always here to help.
We just arrived at the Reef and my experience checking in thus far has been truly disparaging. We were offered an upgrade about two weeks before our arrival. The offer was for a room upgrade for about $600 for the duration of our stay. I replied that I would like the upgrade and was notified that the upgrade would process during checkin. I get to the hotel and the manager, Germel, proceeds to try to upsell this same room for $4000 instead of the upgrade I was previously offered if $600. I show him the official email sent to me by Atlantis, and he simply did not care. This upgrade I was offered two weeks before my arrival via email was completely unsolicited so why give that offer only to not honor it when it comes time to actually check in? He stated because of occupancy he can’t give me that rate, but when the initial offer came, they had my exact dates of stay. I am not one to let things like this go so I will follow up after I escalate this complaint further up the ladder. Total scam!
Cascades Bar/The Reef
Must give a shout out to our server Nicole Curry who gave us special attention and care during our four day stay at the reef! We’ve been coming here for years and Crystal and Iona at the Reef treat us like family! They are always available to help make our stay smooth and enjoyable! Love the reef and really appreciate these three women making it so special for us and our kids!!
Enjoyable Stay at the Reef
Recently enjoyed a couples long weekend at Atlantis' Reef property. For the most part, it met all expectations and more, with very little to complain about. Check in was easy and quick, no lines or wait. We arrived several hours before official check-in time and we were allowed to proceed to our room immediately. We stayed in an Ocean View Suite which was spacious and had a great view. Room was clean, also has a mini-refrigerator, stovetop, microwave, keurig, and dishware/utensils. This offers the opportunity for light groceries and beverages, saving leftovers, etc. Huge plus. Also, there is a fully stocked mini-bar as well. Room was made up every day. Our floor was quiet. Elevators fast and efficient. The Reef pool was clean. Beach area was not crowded. Few kids. Where the Reef is situated, its a nice walk to the Royal where most of the "activity" occurs ( casino, waterpark, restaurants, etc). But as a couple w/o kids, staying away from all the activity was welcomed. Keep in mind, the Royal area also caters to cruise ship day-trippers, so if you want to stay out of the mix, the Reef is perfect. There is also a shuttle that loops between all the Atlantis properties every 15 mins if walking is not desired. Starbucks in Reef lobby, same options as in the US. A few restaurants in the nextdoor Cove building too. So one can avoid the Royal area altogether if desired. Food and Beverage at Atlantis is pricey, but there are several budget-friendly options. Our fave was Murray's deli, good menu and reasonable. Tried Carmines, nice, too much food ( family style). Also there is a burger place in the Marina Village that is pretty good. However, most of the other restaurants are pricey. So be prepared accordingly. There is a buffet option there too. If you are considering Atlantis, ask for any promotions , some do cover meals, etc. I do want to mention that across the street from Atlantis is a small shopping center which has a liquor store, small grocery store, and a really gem of a restaurant named Anthony's. I do recommend checking out this place to get beer/wine for the room, and Anthony's has great food at an reasonable price. Get's busy there! Go early for happy hour, 2-for-1 drinks. We ask did the Dolphin experience which was awesome! Overall, the Reef gets an "A" in my review. We did experience some apathy among a few waitresses, occasional slow service, but from my experience this is indicative in most Caribbean islands. You're on "island time", so remember your patience caps. Finally, recommending Cheryl's Taxi service. She takes advance payments by credit card. On time and first class to and from airport. Airport has US Customs at departure, so no having to do customs in a US airport upon arrival; huge plus. I highly recommend the Reef. We had an great long 3-day weekend!
