Anniversary!!! 12 years, and it had to be special! 💕
Oceana is the best restaurant at Secrets Resort! Omg the food is SO fresh, and Abraham one of the servers there -muy amable! Excellent service!!! The View is to DIE for! My hubby and I had a wonderful experience. Absolute paradise! Thank you for everything amigos! 😘🌴💕👏🏽
First time to Secrets in Cabo. From the day we arrived it was one inconsistency after another even though we booked as preferred customers. For starters, the dress code. They enforce it at some restaurants, but not others. It seemed to depend on the greeter. The reservation system for some of the restaurants was also hit and miss. Some said “same day only” but others said “we recommend to make reservations the day before.” Very hard to relax and go with the flow of you don’t know what the flow is. The liquor quality is also substandard. When you book proffered you’re told it includes premium liquor. It doesn’t. Instead they try to sell you a liquor package, which is over priced. The grounds are nice. The service is good. The food is just okay. Overall, this place is a little overrated and they focus on the sales pressure of the Preferred Club. I don’t go on vacation to get pressured into buying into a club.
Good and Bad
I stayed with a friend at the Secrets Puerto Los Cabos resort last month. We had a fantastic time and there were several things I loved but a number of others I was under-whelmed with. I should start by saying my only other experiences have been at Zoetry resorts and spas so I was starting from a perspective of expecting a lot. Our arrival at Secrets was nice but I really dislike the sales pitch that you receive after check-in. The 200 resort dollars are a joke as well. They are an excuse to get you to spend more money, not save you anything. We skipped the sales breakfast and are glad we did but I was disappointed in it as a first impression. We stayed in a regular room with two queens. While the room itself is nice (beds were very comfortable), the bathroom is the star of the show between the two. We found our room to be hot (could not get it under 73 degrees) and that was after we made sure the door was shut (as instructed) and called maintenance. Bathroom was even warmer. It made it almost uncomfortable to sleep. For people who like it warmer I'm sure it would be fine but for both of us, it was just too warm. The only real issue we had with the room was that we had to call for a bottle opener multiple times over two days. Why have beer that has to be opened with an opener but no opener in the room? It makes no sense. Finally we resorted to asking the maintenance person who was able to procure one for us as calling the front desk never worked. The food was okay. The seafood restaurant (Oceana) was bland and under-seasoned. However our food at the other restaurants (Italian - Portofino, Mexican - El Patio, and Pan-Asian - Himitsu) were good. Service was hit and miss though. Our service at El Patio was by the far the best of the four. For breakfast the Market Cafe had an excellent selection and great service. For lunch we primarily ate from Barefoot and found the selection and quality seriously lacking. For as high level of a resort as this I would have expected better offerings at their pool-side restaurants for sure. I was actually disappointed in the lack of local and seasonal ingredients outside of breakfast (which I thought was excellent). The last thing I want in Mexico is fake cheese on chips. Our service by the pool and beach was also hit or miss. It never seemed consistent and we found we had to go to the bar more than we would have liked. Our goal was to relax and read and we found the pool was way too noisy. Football games on a big screen, loud music, and groups of people that were abrasive and annoying (inappropriate dancing, drunk, etc). We found the beach-side area to be the best fit. It was quieter and all together felt like you were at an entirely different resort. The beach was beautiful and while you can not really swim here because of the rip-tides (although we saw people doing so) we enjoyed listening to the waves and watching the ocean. It was also substantially cooler with the breeze. The only issue was slightly more inconsistency in the service and no where to really cool off except the shower with sea water (which worked for us but if you want to get in the pool then it may not). Overall, we enjoyed our stay but I'm not sure we would go back as I don't think they did enough to really get us interested in coming back. If I had to rate everything: Room 9 of 10, Food 4 of 10, Service 4 of 10, Grounds 8 of 10, Pool 5 of 10, Beach 9 of 10.
Cesar is the man.
Had an amazing time at Secrets Los Cabos with my family. All aspects of the resort were fantastic. Especially enjoyed the preferred club pool and service by Cesar was outstanding. Highly recommend this resort and will be returning.
