    Adequate resort

Poor food selection in the buffet. Alot of the same things every day. Plus I noticed that the food (carving station under a heat lamp) was sitting out at 10 at night with no one around. Only 2 restaurants that you had to stand in line early to get a good seating and book within 48 hours. 2 snack bars...one outdoors with mayonnaise based salads and I wasn't sure how they were keeping them cold. The main snack bar had the crabbiest women running the place. She was constantly snapping at her staff and the customers. Beach was nothing fantastic. Only 1/4 mile long. Tons of security around as the beach at the other end was public and they didn't want uninvited guests to use the resort. We had no wrist bands, which probably made their job more difficult but I'm sure their problem would be less if they gave out wrist bands to hotel guests. We had an awful room when we first arrived, but they changed us to the upstairs where the room was more spacious. It was however very noisy, being right by the entertainment. I complained to the housekeeping executive manager during a meet and greet and she said she would look into it and my request wasn't even acknowledged. For the cost of going to this resort, I could have gone somewhere that I would consider a 5 plus star elsewhere. Oh yes, very uneven pavement stones to walk on (one lady had to be taken to the hospital after falling) and everything is UP, the gym, the snack bar the better rooms etc. Keep that in mind if you don't like to climb hills.

    Relaxing Vacation

It was a really nice getaway from the regular routine. It was not too hot and the beach was very good therapy. There is nothing like dining while watching the beautiful beach and experiencing the sea breeze.

    Pineapple Beach

We enjoyed our week at Pineapple Beach which was our first trip to Antigua. The resort is clean and the staff are pleasant. We had paid extra for an ocean view room and ended up with only a partial ocean view as we were on the ground floor. We were fine with that as we didn't intend to spend a lot of time in our room, so didn't request to switch rooms. The higher floors would have had a better view. There are a lot of stairs at this resort, which might be problematic for those with mobility issues. On the other hand, the clientele were definitely on the older side and many people had canes, so they must have figured out the access situation! The food was excellent. We ate at the Outhouse three times, at Pineapple Grill twice and at Chef Pietro's once. The rest of the time we were at the buffet. The food at all locations was great. The service could have been better at Pietro's (we were the last table in the place and they were ready for us to leave) but otherwise no complaints. They could use more staff in the Pelican Grill to speed up the service there. We only ate there once, as we found the Outhouse was a wonderful place for lunch (beautiful view, tasty food, not crowded). The drinks and bar service were good. We had no issue with refilling our water bottles at the various refill stations throughout the resort, and were glad we brought insulated water bottles from home. The gym is well equipped and we did use it. Aqua aerobics was offered in the pool in the mornings. We booked four tours through Marvelous Marvin on the beach: Shirley Heights for Sunday night (arrive when the sun is still up so you can enjoy the view and the walking trail); Stingray City (amazing); Mystic Catamaran (highly recommended) and a full-day taxi tour of the island. As a group of four, we were able to customize our own island tour by taxi, and we went to Nelson's Dockyard, Betty's Hope and St. John's for some shopping. Possibly an official guided tour would have provided more information and insight into the significance of the sites we toured. We brought snorkel equipment and went snorkeling off the beach. It was OK but not great. The flags were always yellow or red when we were there; I would have preferred to snorkel with a green flag. We wanted more snorkeling so took the Mystic catamaran to Cades Reef. It was a very enjoyable day trip and we would do it again. We've seen more fish on snorkel trips in Cancun, but Cades Reef was pretty good and the boat ride and Mystic crew made it a great day. We walked to Devil's Bridge (about 5km return). We lucked out and joined up with a guided tour while there; otherwise we would have missed Devil's Bridge and the blowhole, as they're both kind of tucked away. These are definitely worth seeing. The resort does offer guided walking tours to Devil's Bridge quite often. The weather was good and we were surprised by how quickly it would change. There were periodic light mists or showers, but they only lasted a few minutes and then the sun came out again. It was quite windy throughout our stay. We typically prefer beach over pool, but sometimes on this trip we chose pool for a respite from the wind. There were enough loungers; early risers were able to save the more desirable ones.

    Pineapple Beach Club Antigua

Great place to visit. The staff is fantastic, the accommodations are better than good. The food is plentiful and offers a variety for everyone’s tastes. The Pineapple Grill Restaurant is a must try, you will not be disappointed. The beach area offers everything a sun worshipper wants to have at their disposal, water sports included. The only one negative I have is that the pool temperature was on the colder side of things and it took time to adjust. Don’t forget to visit all the bars in he resort, the bartenders are experienced and funny too. Thumbs up to everyone at the resort that helped making our stay a lasting memory.
