I can't speak highly enough of this resort. It will appeal to older couples who want a slower, quiet experience. The room, the pool the views were all exquisite. The food was beyond outstanding. The pool side service exceeded all my expectations. Staff wander around the pool ready to serve you food and drinks. Special kudos to Juan and Ernesto who made our experience one we'll never forget. Sign us up, we're ready to go back next year!
We booked this as a birthday treat for my husband and had a wonderful time. The best thing about this resort is the friendly service. All of the staff went out of their way to make you feel at home - particular mention goes out to Daniel who hosted the cookery classes ( fab! We went to 3 in one week!) and taught us Tai Chi and meditation. If you are by the pool and lucky enough to be in Édouardo’s section you will be very well looked after!
The best all inclusive resort!
I was so impressed by this resort - the service was excellent, the ambiance was perfect and the intimate beach area is so serene. My hubby and I felt rested, and relaxed. Kudos to Jorge, our friendly waiter at Kaax, and to Daniel, Ernesto, Manuel and Juan for keeping our drinks on the beach and by the pool coming! Also to the two Franciscos during breakfast, who were always so cordial to us. We will definitely be back! Bix a bel!
When we arrived hotel at 3PM. The room wasn't ready. We had to wait 3 hours to enter room. I had to three times ask at front when room will be ready but answer was "Not sure". Next day morning, ordered scramble egg and orange juice at restaurant to have quick breakfast. I had to wait 45 minutes for plate after I ordered. There are 24 hours room service available such as food order however menu on the book wasn't correct item listed. The walk path was very narrow and we had to wait on the carve while electric cart passing by. All our bad experience at resort can be address and not difficult. All individual worker was working hard. The issue is system and management. Listen bad experience guest voice carefully. If room isn't ready for guest, take guest to cafe and keep update when room, will be ready. If guest is looking for quick bite for breakfast, prepare small corner for self service bread and juice. Expand path and divided electric cart and guest walk path. Zoetry is top class resort on world. Guest is expecting top class service.
Great staff, great room, but some things not very polished
This review will go into some detail on specifics with the resort and location. I researched extensively as this was for our 20th wedding anniversary. While not disappointed in our choice, there are things that need some work. First off, the water WAS brown during our entire stay (1st 10 days of November). Of course, this was of no fault to the resort and they did everything they could to keep the beach clean, but if you are looking for that crystal clear blue water - you should look elsewhere. Supposedly it does get better, but unless someone can send you a live picture, I would be hesitant. Beach: This also made walking on the beach unpleasant. The beach on either side of the resort is dirty with trash and old seaweed. We love to walk on the beach, so this was another disappointment. Again, no fault of the resort, but it did effect our vacation. Staff: The staff, overall, were great. Accommodating and pleasant throughout. Rooms: Another huge plus. We loved the room. While room service was a bit spotty, everything else was great. They are very skimpy when it comes to the amenities as we had to continually ask for more as they did not replace the shampoo, etc. daily with new containers. Dining: The food was good. The variety was a bit lacking. Not all of the restaurants were open every day as it was a slower time of year. This was a disappointment, but understandable. They do have a restaurant in their "Impressions Club" which cost us $99 per person. We did not go, but feel that if all of the regular options are not available, they should at least let us go to this restaurant when it is open without the extra cost. Disclaimer - we don't eat meat. This made the variety even less - I don't think I've eaten this much fish in one week in a long time. The inclusive wine was very limiting - only one red or one white. They did try to upsell us wine every meal. Pool service was very good. Beach service was not so great - but maybe that is because not very many people were on the beach. Special services: We reserved the anniversary/honeymoon special. The turndown was great. The breakfast was pretty good, but the romantic dinner was a complete joke. It was not on the beach or on the dock (and the weather was just fine). It was inside one of the restaurants and the only thing they did to acknowledge was write "Happy Anniversary" in chocolate on our dessert plate. This was a real disappointment and not worth paying for at all. "Membership pitch": They will get you when you check in and push you to set up a meeting to learn about their membership. They bribe you with specials - some of which are great (massage certificates!). But, some are not full disclosure. For example, one of the perks was a free 2-night future stay. Only after we attended the meeting (which took more than 90 minutes), did we learn there was a $199 activation fee. This, to me, is not a free 2-night future stay. Also, the spa certificates are not good for many of the services. It would be nice if the person who sold us the meeting (Abel) was upfront with what our perks would be. We did not end up joining as the presentation was very scattered and confusing. A lot of it did not make any sense. Airport shuttle: Great service getting to the resort. We landed at 6am and got a ride quickly and very comfortably. The return trip was very pleasant, but the resort only provides complimentary rides a few times per day. This is not mentioned on their website and was disappointing as the scheduled times were not convenient for our flights. It's fine if they want to have scheduled trips, but mention it on the website. Grounds: The grounds were lovely! Staff did a great job keeping things clean. The animals everywhere were a pleasant surprise. Overall: A wonderful resort with great service. Being a "green" resort. It would be nice to get a reusable water bottle to use during the stay instead of going through dozens of plastic water bottles. The beach bag is a nice touch. We will probably not return to this resort - mostly because of the beach/water, but also because of the lack of variety of food/wine. If you can get a guarantee the water is blue, don't hesitate to book (especially if you eat meat).
