Fabulous Rooms, remote location, average food

Firstly, let me say that the villas are of a very high quality. Spacious with all mod cons, good bathroom, great sea views from every one. Top notch. Food is average at best. You are not going to starve whatever your diet, but the buffet is rather 'canteeny' and gets cold. There is an a la carte restaurant open a few days a week which you have to book, which gives a better experience. The location is remote from anywhere on the far East Atlantic coast and so gets all the wind and weather from the Atlantic. Was very windy at times. Although we were only a couple, we could see this would be fantastic for a young family. there are lots of kids activities, safe and secure toys, play areas and pools. So i can see a family on a budget would find this place ideal.

Best Resort I’ve ever stayed at

Staff, Food, beaches, pools, drinks, rooms everything was literally perfect! Rooms are spotless! Staff especially Leeroy who works on the beach made us feel so welcome and Made a really big effort. The main beach is nice (you can book a day pass for free to Pineapple Beach club) and the beach there is the best we saw on the island! Food was amazing and everyday with a really wide selection, drinks were nice and strong and all premium brands and not local house stuff. Pools well maintained, and a good size for the main pool. For excursions I recommend the StingRay City over anything else! And for any non swimmers the water is shallow so well worth a trip! The Verandah is the best resort I’ve ever stayed at and I would love to return!

When we first came into the hotel the reception took forever. When we came int the room it was dusty and the walls were chipped. The bed was uncomfortable and the pull out couch was broken. The internet was expensive and terribly slow. The entertainment was the same every night. The music lasted until 1 am and kept me up . The food was bland and there was little variety in the buffet. The staff were also unresponsive to complaints.

Wonderful Place for a Family Vacation

My family had a wonderful time at the Verandah (I wish we could go back tomorrow!) Our bungalow-style suites had a beautiful view of the bay and were conveniently close to both the children's center and the main pool / restaurant. Our rooms had everything we needed, and it was an added bonus that we were able to have a shared balcony as a family (there was an adjoining door on the balcony which could be left open to join the two balcony's.) The food was mostly good, though I wish we had booked a second night at the Buccaneer restaurant, as we felt it was by far the best. We didn't opt to go to Nichole's, which was the pay-more option restaurant as it would have been expensive with so many of us. Everyone working at the children's center we found very friendly, and the kids really enjoyed the fountain / kiddie pool as well as petting the tortoises. Be sure to go early for the slides on "the pirate ship" playground, since they become way too hot in the afternoon. We had such a good time and would absolutely recommend the Verandah to our friends. Look for Yocasta during the evening entertainment, we absolutely loved her and she was wonderful with us and with the little ones too. (She even got my sister out on the dance floor, no easy task !). Andre at the bar was another of our favorites and we had many wonderful conversations with him too, though we found just about everyone at the resort to be helpful, friendly and genuinely keen to make sure we had a great time.

    Day Pass at the Verandah

I was originally staying at the Pineapple Beach Hotel, which is a sister hotel based across the road from the Verandah. We had the privilege of being able to use the facilities at the Verandah on a day pass which we visited more than once. The hotel is built on acres of land, we used the gold kart to get around. The front of house staff, restaurant and snack bar staff were all very helpful. the food was lovely especially the cocktails. The lovely small beach area which is tucked away in a cove area is a wonderful place to chillax with cocktails or go out on a boat to sight see, some of the Island with the informative experienced sailing staff .
