Dreams Hotel Punta Cuna was a dream

After a fantastic Tui flight from London, we found ourselves to be in a magnificent hotel. 4 adults, 2 children were greeted with Champagne and a drink for kids, plus a hot face cloth. So many staff to help you. A good sized room with free mini bar which is filled up each day, a big shower, balcony, t.v......Outside are 2 huge heated pools and a child's pool - all connected. Getting a sunbed needs to be addressed though as we witnessed guests putting towels on beds as early as 4:30am to reserve them while they then go back to bed. A very kind and lovely staff member Eusebio Rodriguez was always on hand to get us beds from the beach every morning. He was so helpful as were all the staff. They all said Hola when passing and their communication was amazing with all the guests. We'll go back there because of their friendly manner. The team in the pool bar were great. Jose and his team were absolutely professional in serving drinks. No long queues and very happy to serve us. They made it a party atmosphere. Loads of water sports in the pools and on the beach. Big thanks to Ilvio and Gel from Seapro who took us out on a boat for the afternoon - wonderful guys who made us extremely welcome to enjoy their Sealife experience all organised by super Alfredo. Again, one super guy. Last but not least was a sweet guy called Juan who works in the Barefoot Grill on the beach. He worked alone in his hut cooking for guests who didn't want to eat in the massive hall which was always full of wonderful food. He spends all day cooking and smiling and making guests feel special and welcome. There is so much to say about this hotel but not enough time. Go there and see for yourself. Plenty of restaurants on site, food, drink, coffee bar, pools, evening shows, shops and a great kids club with wonderful Pamela. Thanks everyone (too many to mention) for a great holiday. We will see you again next year because of the superior service given.

    “Excellente!” Gem of a Resort

Just returned from my first trip to DR and have to say that it was Excellente! I arrived on Monday afternoon and as the room wasn’t ready yet, I decided to get changed and go see the beach. My first impression of the beach was a little disappointment but only because of my own preference for a wider beach. That being said, a little walk down the beach provides an opportunity to see a little wilder beach area with no resort where the water is warm and crystal azul. I even saw a few people snorkeling there although I did not see for myself. Back to the resort to get to my room, Jose Manuel at the preferred check-in was just wonderful. He suggested an upgraded room with a jacuzzi but I decided to stay with my regular preferred room and it was just perfect for me! Building 3, 3rd floor facing the adult preferred pool is the best! You get beautiful afternoon sun and as the sun goes down at the end of the day you can sit and enjoy a nice cerveza. My shower was not renovated (from what others told me, they had a rain head shower) but everything worked well and I had no issues. Karla and Sheila ensured that my room was always clean with fresh towels as required. A nice touch is the incense that you can burn in your room, makes it feel cozy. Benjamin from preferred guest services was always smiling and inquiring to ensure everything was good. My days were spent almost entirely on the beach where the wait staff are always walking around and provide the best service! Robert and Reynaldo were exceptional! The security personnel are also just fantastic. When a guest thought she had lost her phone, Jose Alejandro calmly took charge, although the guest had said she checked all around her beach chair he went back and searched himself and found the phone! She was so relieved! Pascual on beach security was also very pleasant. The beach vendors deserve a mention too as they are super friendly but not pushy at all. Alejandro (holà, holà, holà) is a proud Dominican and loves to chat. The sunglasses guy is patient and will let you try so many glasses till you find the right one. I booked a massage at the spa with Mieses and was so pleased that I booked a second one, a testament to how good she is! I then spent an hour in the steam room and spa pools. Totally worth it! I tried all the a la carte restaurants as well as the main buffet. Breakfast at the main buffet has endless fresh choices and a fantastic juice bar. I drank the green detox juice everyday, perfect start to the day! Although the à la cartes were good, my favourite place to grab a snack had to be the appetizers prepared at the preferred lounges, ceviche, calamari, lamb chops, eggplant parmigiana, bacon wrapped mahi mahi, wings, endless yummy! Then there was the day where they were grilling fish at the barefoot beach snack bar! Wow! So good! I didn’t even venture to the other pools so I couldn’t say how those are, but if you are a solo traveller looking for a resort where you have the option to relax and chill or partake in the entertainment of the day or evening this is the right place for you. Someone recommended this place and I would definitely recommend it as well. Thanks to all the staff for making this a wonderful vacation!

    Wonderful Resort

Just got back from 1 week at Dreams Palm Beach. It is a smaller resort than I was used to but it was AMAZING! The grounds were the nicest I have seen anywhere. Everything was beautifully manicured and lush.I can't say enough about the staff in the entire complex. They were all so friendly and smiling all the time. You will see the wait staff in more than one restaurant. They all seem to work at one in the morning and in another restaurant for either lunch or dinner. The food was very good in all. Our favourite was El Patio Mexican restaurant. Emmy and Carlos are fun and amazing at their job. Lobby Bar is hopping at night. Definitely the place to be when the sun goes down. The beds and pillows are very comfortable. We had one issue where the A/C in the ceiling was dripping water down the wall and pooling on the floor. We reported it to the front desk not to complain but to tell them before more damage could be done. They offered to give us a different room but we told them we were ok with the room but we just wanted to make them aware of potential problems. When we were out at the pool that afternoon they came in and fixed the leak, patched the ceiling and left us a bottle of champagne, cheese, crackers, prosciutto, desserts, and chocolates all laid out beautifully on the table as their way of thanking us for pointing out the problem and for any problems this may have caused us. A truly wonderful surprise. I definitely would recommend this resort for so many reasons. We will definitely go back. Well done Dreams Palm Beach!

    Perfect Dream Wedding Destination

I’ve been meaning to write this review for the longest time now as we actually got married last April! I spent 4 months obsessively researching where to get married abroad (I live in England) and decided that the Dominican in general was great value for money and weather would be good for the time of year we wanted to go. I was nervous as contact between the hotel and myself wasn’t the best before we went however there was nothing to worry about because as soon as we got there we had a meeting to go over everything we wanted for the wedding. You basically show them pictures of how you want it set up and they do it for you. Yes you pay for every little detail but personally I don’t think you need to go crazy as the setting is already so beautiful. Our wedding planner Virgilio was the loveliest man ever, so was seriously sweet and if we could’ve brought him home with us we would have! Their makeup team were surprisingly very good!! I’d never heard of Half Of the makeup which was petrifying as I’m very into makeup myself so I was sceptical but again you just show a picture of what you want and they make you look beautiful. I recommend taking your own stick on lashes though as their choice was interesting. Hair was also very good, slightly different to how it would be done in England...they use a lot of hairspray and very tight curls!! But you have trials before and the ladies are so sweet I was really happy with how I looked on the day. The wedding itself ran totally smoothly. No hiccups at all I didn’t have to do or worry about a thing. My only downside was that we didn’t get married until 5pm because that was the only time available for a legal wedding but then it means you don’t have that long as the music has to be switched off at 10pm on the beach. We we’re all just getting going by 9 and before we knew it it was over :( having said that the bars and club/casino stays open later so that was great for our guests make use of. Also just a warning. Anyone of your party not staying at the hotel will be charged a day pass to come in! Which I think is a bit cheeky as you’re already paying for the event and effectively their food and drink. Hotel was clean, beautiful, food was INCREDIBLE. I’m not joking I’ve travelled a lot and never seen such an amazing spread in the world cafe which is open every day for breakfast lunch and dinner. There was every option under the sun you didn’t even need to consider the other restaurants available on site if you didn’t want to. The other restaurants were also great, my favourite was the Mexicans, I’ve never tasted fajitas so great in all my life! It was lovely to have different options and you didn’t need to book, just turn up and hope there’s space. The grill down on the beach was amazing if you didn’t want to bother putting clothes on for lunch and every day they did a different style of food cooked by the pool...was lush! The entertainment was also great, salsa dancing, karaoke, foam party on the beach and loads of other things during the day. You can’t be bored here. I would 100% return to the Dominican and stay in a dreams hotel, ignore any bad reviews it was wonderful!

    Amazing place Super Amazing Staff.

We have never had such a wonderful vacation, we have been to multiple countries and many resorts in the Carribean and by far Dreams Palm Beach has been the best. All because of the Amazing people working here, I would love to be able to mention all of them however with limited amount of space I will keep it to the very best of them. Aury is one of the servers at the lobby bar and also works in the buffet. She absolutely made our time at the lobby bar amazing she was always trying to do more to make our time more pleasant and our vacation perfect we will return to Dreams Palm Beach just to see her again. Then there is Maiken (Mikey) at the Adult Preferred club. Where to start he did So much to make our stay the best ever. He was always trying to do more to make sure we were happy always making sure we were looked after. He is amazing and so much fun I am really going to miss Maiken. Carlos also works in the Adults preferred club, Carlos did not spare a moment to help make sure we were always happy and taken care of, share a laugh, and make us feel special. Going to miss Carlos too. We can't wait to see them all again when we return. So sad had to leave but excited for the return trip.
