Great point value!
At 50K a night this has to be the best value out of all Hilton hotels world wide. As a Diamond member we were upgraded to an ocean-view room. Hotel was sold out for first 2 nights, so we stayed at Mountain View and were upgraded for remaining 3 nights. I would say both views were spectacular. Rooms are spacious with big Lanai’s. Plenty of space for pack-and-play/crib. Complementary breakfast does not include hot items, but has a variety of fresh fruits and other items and is a great start to a day. Pool is amazing and having a beach in front of the hotel is great. If you want chairs, you have to sign up for them by 8AM at the latest, it starts at 7AM. At about 4PM-5PM it is pretty empty and you can get chairs again no problem. Best strategy for our family was to get front row beach chairs at 7AM and stay till noon and then go back to the room and get lunch and whatnot and then come back in the evening for the pool.
This property is beautiful. If you have a chance to stay here while in Maui I would highly recommend it. The staff is fantastic. Spacious rooms. The spa and fitness center are very nice. Also, the luau here is the best in Maui.
Great birthday celebration!!!
Every year we try to do a birthday celebration for our Son Gael, this year he turn 12 and he pick Maui!!! We stay for 6 nights at the GW and is was the Best!!! I always ask for a little surprise for my son to be waiting on the room, for his birthday this time they went Big, we have a hole cake 🎂 balloons 🎈 and chocolates a side of a Happy Birthday card!!! The hotel is Huge and Beautiful every detail on the gardens the rooms, the restaurant (the best food we have in a pool side service), is very well keep and carefully take care. We assist at the Luau very nice, not many dancers on the presentation but the service and the food is the best!!!The pool is Big and even that is such a huge hotel you never feel crowded; the only 2 critics I have is that the floors around the pool the cake very HOT and some of the slides are loosing the paint and they are uncomfortable. My son enjoy it so much that he said to us that this is going a very hard one to Top.
Good Hotel but needs work
I should preface anything below with the fact we came from the Ritz Carlton in Lahaina before we came here. Our family have been Diamond members for the past 10+ years and we stay in hotels 50 plus nights a year. Leading up to the time here I was in touch with Curtis at the front desk and he was kind enough to help make our trip a little more special during our stay. My kids loved the water slides, swing rope and the hotel room. They preferred this hotel to the Ritz, due to the slides, but loved the people at the Ritz better. This place is huge and you are a number at this place. You will not get a feeling that the workers know you, which was our experience at the Ritz. My kids loved the kids camp area called the Rock. It was a great place to cool off and play games in the late afternoon. The place needs a touch up. The water slides need fixing as my suit got caught on many of the smaller slides. The outside could use some painting as well as they are starting to age. The process for getting chairs near the pool is a little crazy. Lines start forming around 6:45 and the ropes are dropped to let people in at 7 am. They occasionally go around and check chairs that haven’t been sat in for a while. If the chair backs are down that means they are timing. After an hour they collect the items and open the seats. The lines for wrist bands and towels are a little long at times. I’m not sure how to solve all of this with as large as this place is but it can be frustrating. Also note, not a lot of areas to get out of the sun. You can reserve cabanas if need be but most chairs are out in the sun. Our hotel room looked out to the ocean, and we had events going on two nights we were here. It was great for entertainment from our patio, but it also kept our young kids up one night. All events ended by 9:30. The breakfast for Diamond members is confusing. We were provided a continental breakfast that was put on a plate and provided to us. Our kids luckily ate free as they are under 5. If they are over 5 they can eat the Buffett for a discount of $23. Only two people are provided breakfast with the Diamond status. Overall a good experience. I think the hotel should be a Hilton. Having stayed at other Waldorf hotels this does not feel like a Waldorf. If you compare Ritz and Waldorf from our stay in Maui, the Ritz was much more elegant and personal, but the kids loved the slides here.
We had previously been here about 5 years ago with a large group. My family and I stayed this time. The property is very nice, although the water slides need some surface repairs at a few spots. The property is huge, but nagiveable. The spa is one of the best I’ve ever been to. It’s close enough to everything that drive times aren’t terrible (except to Hana, but that’s the point). If you don’t want to leave the property, you can literally do any adventure within the property, or the adjacent beach.
