First trip to Maui
First trip to Maui and it is gorgeous! The hotel grounds are beautiful and lush. It is isolated with limited access to other places other than those in property that doesn’t require travel and very expensive to store your rental car there nightly!
Service Execution Matters
My family and I stayed at the Grand Wailea November 10 - 16 and had a great time in the pool and beach with my daughter. The rooms are classy. We were upgraded to the Napua tower. This upgrade gave us access to daily continental breakfast, noon hour snacks and an open bar between 400-600. The upgrade was worth the cost for my family of three because of the bigger room and food/drinks. The only draw back and reason for my less than excellent feedback is a feeling of being nickel and dimed at checkout where we learned of an automatic $13 per person baggage fee and an extra $10 per night for parking/valet. I am happy to pay the $13 baggage fee had I known it was automatically charged. I tipped for service not knowing the cost was already built in by default. The valet fee was likely a misunderstanding however the staff could not get their story straight on fees, and amounts. As a consumer I want simple straight forward and upfront knowledge of my obligations. Best way to do that, built it into the room rate. When my wife and I pushed back on the fees especially the “misunderstanding” we were met with a standoffish customer service representative whose only response was sorry for the misunderstanding. Worse yet they couldn’t figure out how to refund a double charge and we had to trust they would do so and email us back since we had a flight to catch. When asked who we should ask for, we were told anyone could help us. Having to repeat the story just adds salt to the wound. Moral of the story: be upfront with your cost obligations. Stay true to your commitments and get your story straight. A service failure at the tail end left a bad taste in my mouth. We won’t be coming back to this resort despite the pools.
We lived our stay at Grand Wailea! We had a minor incident, but it was solved immediately and we were very well taken care of after! I would recommend the hotel to everyone, and we are definitely coming back!
Agreed: "Like Vegas (and not in a good way.)"
Too large, too complicated, too expensive, too far from the beach and too "grand" for a carefree Hawaii vacation. However, the staff at every level was wonderful. The landscaping was beautiful. And the open-air sports bar, with its view of the sunset, was a fun place to watch the Seahawks beat SF. We left a day early, which says it all.
Memorable and Remarkable Conference Experiene
This was a very memorable and remarkable conference experience. The staff was very responsive and customer focused, while the amenities were great as well. We were there for five beautiful nights, which was five beautiful night TOO SHORT! Thank YOU!
