Love the resort but beware of tour vendors on beach
We have stayed all over the world and really loved everything about this Dreams. The answer was always yes to help with food preferences and ALL of the restaurants were excellent with food & service. Edwin in entertainment was absolutely amazing, great English, great complimentary hiking, biking tours. However, You will get handed to a salesperson immediately after getting room keys they offer spa/wine/romantic dinner coupons at VIP desk they want you to do 90min sales seminar the next morning. You will be confused as to what is happening. Anyone you ask through the day for help will try to get you to do the seminar. When you make it to the lower pool and try to go to the beach you WILL BE bombarded with people selling tours, trinkets, massages, etc. every single day every time you go to the beach because it’s public beach within 2 ft of the resort and they make you want to walk the other way and dread when your kid wants to play beach volleyball! We met 3 people at the swim up bar from Houston, they were friendly and told us they wanted to do a fishing charter but it would be cheaper if we went with them. We had a party of 8. They tell us to come talk to a guy on the beach with Alan adventures he explained everything and we booked an ATV tour for our group $70 per ATV & paid deposit on boat. Alan did not attend and we had 4 different guys that we started our tour with. When we got to Rajada beach one guy smoked a joint with the girl from Houston, assumed the other guys did while we played in the water with our kids. The guy driving my 12 year old crashed the other ATV with another 12 yr old on it and as we passed the police station another tour guy driving the ATV with the tourist he smoked weed with hit me at a stop sign extremely hard. I had paid a deposit for another tour with Alan but after these incidents, I asked for my money back and he wouldn’t give it. Advice is please only book with the resort, it’s worth the money & I feel so dumb to have gone with Alan. He wrote a receipt and spelled his email wrong and we told the police around the beach who spoke almost no English and dreams employee Franklin tried so hard to help us translate but they wanted us to come to the station & bring our passports. That was not happening with our 12 yr old. Big mess. But we loved Dreams. Just need everyone to beware of the guy in the photo.
Beach scammer read this
Dreams is an excellent property, we have stayed in dozens of all inclusive properties and I have to say that Dreams is right there with the very best! Staff was awesome, food and amenities are excellent. Our only complaint was that their is a scammer on the public beach that Dreams can not control. His name is Alex. His photo is attached. Dreams explicitly warned us about not using beach tours and we did anyway. We had excellent tours through all the beach guys with the exception of Alex. He is simply out there ripping off tourists. FYI.
First Time In Costa Rica
My first trip to Costa Rica with family and friends! Hotel Dreams as an amazing place to stay (if you don't mind the 1hr 30min from the airport ). Cleans rooms sprawling grounds. Definitely recommended if you have kids.
Wonderful, a little bit of paradise
Just returned from a week at Dreams. We went with First Choice / TUI. Firstly can I thank Marvin and his team from Tui for being welcoming, well organised and on hands if you needed anything. Then onto the resort. It's superb. The choice of food is great. We ate at the Italian, The Mexican, The Japanese and the Seafood restaurants and all were great. The staff couldn't be more polite and helpful. A special thanks to Seidy around the pool for being so attentive. The room was wonderful, the housekeeping perfect and the resort itself is also perfect. Beautiful pools and a beach just a short stroll away. If you want to take loads of tours and explore the island it's probably not the best choice for you but if you want to stay in a wonderful resort, be spoilt and have a great break then book it. We will return for sure.
The place to go in Costa Rica is the Dreams Las Mareas Resort. My wife and I had a great time! We travel 2-3 times a year and were very pleased with the level of customer service! Best service, food and staff - a great place to have spent my 50th birthday!!! Members Services staff, especially Stathis and Andrés, treated us like royalty and were there for us in without hesitation. The property was beautiful and offered great amenities. We will be back...OMG!!! Pura Vida!!!!! James G
