Where is the ice cream?
I asked the same question at the front desk and was told to write a comment on Trip Advisor. So, where is the ice cream? This is a question that is asked a whole lot...and still we have no ice cream. Management of Sunscape Sabor Cozumel, where is the ice cream? Your guests would really enjoy some...on a regular basis!
Great family resort
This resort is very family friendly. Lots of toys, catamarans, paddle boards, kayaks, snorkels. Kids had lots to do. Food was very good. Something for everyone. Had a ball at the foam party. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Only so so thing was the room. Needs a remodel. Bed was very comfortable and didn’t spend much time in the room. Bar service was great. Everyone has a great time.
This is our 8th trip here. We love visiting here and try to come 2x per year. The staff is wonderful, very welcoming, friendly and helpful. At the moment you arrive, Juan Carlos and Antonio meet you at the front and help you with your bags and help with the process of checking you in. Pablo at the front desk was very nice and got us in our room quickly. The room we stayed in this time was perfect, we had an oceanfront room with quick access to the beach. We do a lot of training here for triathlons. We ran the beach everyday we we were here and swam. The ocean is very clear and usually see lots of fish. It is a little rocky getting out to swim, but once you get there it is worth it. Mario at the buffet is super nice and helpful.
I have mixed feelings on this resort. I will share the good and the bad. Good: The team really tried hard to keep the place clean, They swept and mopped our room daily. The entertainment team was sweet and took us on a "kayak tour". The price was reasonable. The Mexican restaurant was good. They gave us an upgrade so that our room overlooked the ocean. The rooms are in these little villas which are cute, but worn. The bartenders and cleaning staff worked their butts off. It is a fantastic place for scuba and snorkel. (These aren't really our thing through.) It would be a good place for a family with kids. Not so good: After checking in but before we were able to go to our room were met by someone telling us that we had extra "gifts" because we booked through Cheap Caribbean. They gave us "coupons" and told us we could go to breakfast at secrets next door the following day and if we did that we would get extra coupons. (We later figured out it was a time share sales pitch. We did not attend.) After this we struggled to find anyone to help us to our room and wound up carrying our own bags. It left a bad taste in our mouth from the beginning. Our room was worn. The wood panel door had pieces peeling away. Our location meant that people were loud outside our room until well after 2am. The on resort entertainment was limited. There was no swim up bar. The food wasn't very good. It reminded me of a low end cruise ship or an olive garden. We intentionally ate lunch off site one day because we weren't happy with the food quality. We had read that we could use secrets next door but were instructed once we got there that we could not. (Though no one was policing so outside meals you may have been able to get away with it.) Overall, we felt like they were really trying. The food was very disappointing and very slow. (One table spent an hour at the Italian Restaurant and hadn't even received salads.) However, we would not return.
Great small all inclusive hotel.
We spent February 8-15th at the Sunscape Sabor in Cozumel. We loved it. Our reservation was for a King bed and we did not get that on Saturday arriving at 11pm. on Sunday we were told that rooms were full and Monday we could move. The King bed we got with room 2011 was terrific. Best bed we have ever had in Mexico in 20 years of travel. The room safe had a loose label ( could allow for someone to open without code) The room was very clean and had new tiles in the shower. . The shower was hot and the pressure was better than home. This room was in the first building from the lobby, so very close to pool and WIFI. The longest walk we had was to Portofino for breakfast. Selection of food was acceptable. Every meal we had there had a good choice of 10 or so. Not like the bigger RIU or Grand Bahia. We tried Da Mario's and Andrea was quick to call us by name and deliver a nice table. Italian food was great. We also ate at Sunny Side - lunches and dinners. loved it. Fredy was there one night and took good care of us. Over all food servings were a good size. Drinks on the beach were delivered quickly and politely by Bea. The pools were nice, although our preference was for snorkelling. Water shoes are required. Lots of fish. Also good selection of beach chairs. We are in our late 60s so we did not stay up for every entertainment evening. The Fire show was great and the Mexican show was entertaining. Best part of the vacation was the incredible weather on our favourite Mexican island.
