Grumpy People Should Stay Home
I am pretty sure if you are reading this review, you are like me and have read all of the reviews. I too was a little nervous when I read all of the "bad" reviews. We came to Cozumel to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary and to renew our vows. From the very beginning Katia (one of the wedding coordinators) was extremely helpful and diligent in making arrangements. We emailed back and forth several times. Our ceremony was fabulous! Antonio the minister did a wonderful job! Katia arranged a dinner for us on the beach after the ceremony and we could not have asked for a better server in Salvador! We booked in the preferred section of the resort and enjoyed the proximity to the preferred pool and beach section. Our room was beautiful and Elena made sure it was sparkling clean for us everyday. I would recommend booking in the preferred section. We found the food to be pretty good. We had a fabulous cook to order steak at the Market Place on Valentines day! I will echo the sentiments of those saying that the staff here is amazing! The views are amazing! Those peeps who seem to be giving bad reviews are either 1) never happy about anything or 2) probably are a little self centered, non adventurous and don't know how to be nice and tip. That's just my guess. I have included some pictures... because I know I like pictures in a review! If you end up going... have a great time and be sure and catch sunset at the Sky Bar with Salvador!
8 years in a row to beautiful cozumel!!! Secrets now 4 of those 8 times and its still our favorite resort. Upgraded rooms twice to ocean views absolutely worth it. Once did preferred club. Nice but not neccessary. But the room upgrade is neccessary. One year we just got a standard room further back on the resort, definitely wont do that again. Highly recommend paying for the extra nice ocean view! Staff is always just so polite, helpful and remember us every time like were the best of friends. They are all so welcoming and happy to see us, like they are so glad we picked them! Its wonderful. Specifically Fernando up front top notch travel accommodation services any time we needed to go somewhere he was on it, wouldnt let me lift my bag even if I tried! Natalie the activities coordinator was so fun and sweet we saw her everywhere we went and she always had a huge smile and really helped make sure everyone was involved and having a good time. And I was so suprised a few of the staff remembered our names from past years!! Vicky took care of our beverages on the beach daily. And the waitstaff at oceana for breakfast is the best. They remembered what we both ate and drank every single day!!! We both had mimosas, I had coffee with coconut milk, my boyfriend just got bacon every day, and I had plain oatmeal with coconut milk and plain fruit plate. Every day they saw us and said "bacon and oatmeal with coconut!!!" Armando and the 2 Adrian's were the absolute highlight of the staff all week long. And the sweetest most polite and respectful server was Roberto we had him twice for dinner at Windows. My fav foods were the sushi at gohan, the seared tuna at windows, and the chicken tacos on the beach!. Of course we will be back next year!!!
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!
Going to sum this up with the good and the bad. Good: great staff, beautiful scenery, great weather, snorkelling was fantastic, lots of laughs with great friends! Bad: 4 from our group got food poisoning which basically put them out for 2 days, my husband came back with a bad intestinal bacteria, one friend got a fungal infection all over her back(which apparently will last for 30 days until antibiotics clear it up) from the dirty soiled beach cushions in the preferred section, drinks were watered down, plastic cups should be replaced with new ones, preferred rooms were old and apparently you have to request a new room or they give you an old one which is dirty and broken down, pest control came into our room while we were there and sprayed with us inhaling all the toxins and didn’t even give us a chance to leave, the infinity pool above us was overflowing onto our balcony, food is pretty much always cold no matter where you ate, sky bar staff removed the cushions right out from under us as we were sitting having a drink, the preferred club is a joke and so is the section on the beach with the loungers all ripped up and dirty, this resort is also very dirty and needs a renovation big time. This resort should not be under the Secrets umbrella. It’s at best a 3 star. You under no circumstances get what you paid for at this resort so save your money. Luckily along with this review our travel agent has put this on her DO NOT SELL list. But please... do not let this review ruin your thoughts on going to another Secrets. The rest of them are fantastic and beautiful and worth every penny...just not this one!
Fantastic Service all around
Service people in this resort are top notch, never did we need anything. It was always there for us. Isabel was fantastic serving us on the beach. Delores awesome waitress at Rendevous Resturant .....
Convenient wedding location
This is the first time my wife and I ever stayed at an all-inclusive--it's just not our style. It was perfect for a family wedding because we could all be together. The housekeeping was a bit uneven. Some days there would be a bathmat, some not, for example. However, it was always very clean! I thought the room was showing a little wear and tear; a fresh coat of paint would be good. The food at the Market Cafe was the best! They had many Mexican dishes and a beautiful view of the ocean. Monica the hostess was very professional and efficient. We have our own snorkel gear and were surprised how fun the snorkeling was right off the beach. Nonetheless, given loud music and activities, the (to us) crowded beach, we will be returning to the paradise of Vieques PR for our winter vacation. All- inclusive is just not our traveling jam.
