    Awesome vacation

    This was our first time to Aruba but we have stayed at several Riu hotels over the years and we must say this was one of the nicest vacations that we have experienced. The only reason that we did not give it an excellent rating is due to the fact that hotel itself needs to be renovated and we were told that it will be shortly. The staff and the food were excellent. We love the beach and it was safe to walk all along and no vendors to deal with. At night the managers came to the restaurant and spoke to the guests as to any concerns which we have not seen on any of the others locations that we have been too. Nice touch. If you have children stay at the Riu Palace next door as this one is only for adults. Awesome. Would love to take my children there.

    Golden Anniversary holiday

    This hotel is lovely, adults only , right on a beautiful beach. The food is amazing, great selection, well presented. Always asking you if you are ok and need anything. Rooms are nice , perhaps some need a little upgrading but comfortable beds and always hot water. We are having an amazing time and another week to go.

    best vacation

    This was our second time to RUI Antilles. we loved it so much the first time we made a point of coming back! The hotel is great! close to everything. The staff is fabulous! We LOVE the buffet! The rooms are clean and modern. The house keeping staff are very attentive of any requests. We will definitely come back!

    Don’t be put off by negative reviews. It’s a fab hotel

    We stayed here first 2 weeks in October. Yes the hotel decor is dated, but the managers know this and have plans for renovations. We were told we had been upgraded upon check-in to room 1637. The 16 means the 16th floor, so you’d have 1537 (15th floor) , 1737 (17th floor) etc... However this upgrade only meant a larger room and considering it was just my husband and I, it wasn’t needed. It was the last room on the floor at the back of the hotel (if you imagine the front is the beach) so our view wasn’t great and we could here the generators from our room with the patio doors shut, so we asked if we could move rooms. They didn’t have anything that night but said we could change the following day and we were then moved to room 1603 which was at the front but not with an ocean view. We could see the ocean but the sunset (and pool view) side is with rooms ending with an even number (worth noting this if you want to request a specific room. the lower the number, the closer the room is to the beach). Room 1603 was great though (have posted a pic of the view from this room). The room was cleaned to a high standard everyday so whilst decors not great, the cleanliness was spot on. The bed was comfortable, clean sheets and clean towels all the time. The food in the hotel was amazing. We didn’t eat in the Palm Beach (fish) restaurant but ate in the others; Steakhouse, Italian and Krystal (a la carte). There is always a queue for the Steakhouse restaurant, usually from about 5:45pm for a 6:30pm sit down but in my opinion isn’t not actually worth it. The steak you get in Atlantis (the buffet restaurant) is much nicer in my opinion. We did give feedback to the managers (as they do ask) that it would be nice to have candlelight on the tables in the evening so that it felt a bit more romantic, especially in the buffet restaurant which can feel a bit canteen like. The drinks on offer are fab too. Yes it’s local spirits round the pool but they do have some branded spirits in your room and at the main bar. Absolut, Tanquerry gin etc.. It’s never singles, always double measures, not that I was complaining. The wine was lovely too. The beach outside the hotel is beautiful too, if a little crowded at times but the pool/beach attendants take your beds to wherever you want it placed and don’t expect tips. Americans tip all the time but I think they understand British don’t have that culture so don’t expect it. We tipped those who helped us at the end of our stay. The pool is lovely, but the water in the pool bar pool is a bit rank. You get people going in there from 10am and drink all day and never seem to get out of the pool to use the bathroom, so make of that what you will. Drinks being spilt in there late afternoon once everyone’s drunk too. Thankfully this pool is separate to the others. They have iguanas and geekos around the grass area which are harmless albeit I was a bit frightened when I first saw them but by the second day I was looking forward to them walking past our sunbed. Oh, some idiot American decided to pick one of the large iguanas up (showing off really) and wouldn’t let it go when it was wriggling to get away. He then went to kiss it!? But it bit him on the nose! Talk about karma 😁. Best to respect the wildlife eh! Special mention to Jose (pool barman) and Kenny (waitress) in the Atlantis. Both made our stay more memorable. Trips we did in the 2 weeks were the Coast to Coast tour with De Palm tours. Fabulous day out, visiting the attractions of the island (lighthouse, natural pool, natural bridge, de palm island, national park, baby beach). and a day at De Palm Island. Definitely worth paying for the premium sunbeds as this entitles you to be on the beach with the flamingos for the day. They have 5 adult flamingos on the beach and have another 7 baby ones that will be joining the adults when they’re big enough. We travelled with Tui. Dreamliner was great, flight of 9.5hrs actually went very quickly. Transfer is 20mins from hotel so not far. Trish (our Tui rep) was great, v friendly and helpful. Aruba is a fab destination. We felt very safe out of the hotel, you’re never hassled on the beach or by street sellers. Would I return here? No but only because we’ve seen what’s to see and we like to try out different places but I would definitely book another Riu hotel if the service and standard is the same as this hotel .

    Don't stay here

    My husband and I wish we had listened to the reviews that said to stay somewhere else. It wasn't all bad, but certainly way more bad than good. The good parts included the pools, beach, and buffet. That's it. The rooms were AWFUL! It's seriously an outdated hotel, with crappy tile work, chipped mirrors, broken sliding doors, broken toilet, and a bed that was not comfortable (we stayed in a junior suite). We figured the crappy room would be outweighed by the all-inclusive drinks, but the drinks were just as bad. Their soda is not carbonated, their frozen drinks are just cheap slushies with alcohol mixed in when served, and they only have the 2 local beers (which are OK but not great). The bartenders also had no personalities. We didn't even try to get into the specialty restaurants because every night people were lined up an hour early which was the only way to get a table. That said, we heard really good reviews about the steakhouse but didn't feel it was worth waiting in line for an hour to eat there. Sad to say that our honeymoon would have been more enjoyable elsewhere. *Shoutout to the Bugaloe bar where we spent most of our time! They're awesome!*
