Overall, I would recommend RIU Antillas to anyone looking for a perfect location on the island. The resort rooms definitely needs updating, but with how little time we spent in the room, we were pleased with the rooms. One negative is if you don't get outside by 7:30am to reserve a seat by the pool, you will not be able to relax there. We were fine with this since we came to Aruba to experience the ocean! The buffet was AMAZING. The sit down restaurants were sub-par. The buffet was by far better than the 3 restaurants. We did enjoy the resort being adults only. Everyone we interacted with was wonderful and willing to help out with any questions to make the experience wonderful. Overall, I would recommend this resort.
Would not recommend if you want to relax
I am so disappointed in the money we spent for this “resort.” Biggest complaint..... constant noise. The pool is loud and the music and constant yelling into the microphone never stops. There is no quiet pool where you can just enjoy the weather and a good book or a conversation. From the first hour I could not wait to leave. The noise continued at night. Our room was not only overlooking the noisy pool but also apparently over a bar that blasted music at night. We had a beautiful view but no enjoyable balcony sitting for us. The beach is crowded and not serene by any means. Is it pretty? Sure. But this is a hotel strip.... lots of hotels next to each other. There is a pier to the right. Many boats anchored out front. The noise level then moves out to the beach at times, with all kinds of things going on. Looking for a peaceful beach with a beautiful view? Look elsewhere. The party atmosphere is just too much. We chose the adult only side thinking it would be an actual adult experience but it was more of a spring break atmosphere. Honestly the giant dinosaur running around the pool area and pool bar was just annoying. Maybe on the side with kids that would be acceptable, but really? I did I it want to be hugged by a sticky, sweaty plastic dinosaur. We ended up eating in the buffet or in town because if the no reservation policy. Be prepared to wait in line for a good hour or more to get into a restaurant. Front desk service upon checking in was like checking into any old place.... not overly warm or welcoming. Our room was ok. I typically don’t care about the room much unless something is really wrong. A little outdated and some cheap fixes but no biggie. My biggest issue with the room is there are no blankets or comforter on the bed. Just two white sheets. I personally like to snuggle under blankets when I sleep and I did not sleep well because of no blankets. So many staff working so hard.... but unlike other resorts they are so overly busy and moved around so much it is difficult to get to know them. This place was so over crowded we did not feel like guests at all....the noise levels really ruined this vacation for us. We will never return.
Great vacation, could have been better
Last year I stayed at the Riu Palace. Had a fantastic time but there were too many children running around. This year we decided to stay at the Riu Antillas, an adult only hotel. We were a party of 5, my wife and I plus my 3 children. It was my twin daughters 21st birthday. I booked 2 rooms for 7 nights. Hotel was very nice and clean but old. When we got to the room we were very surprised to see how old and outdated it was. The door was ridiculously heavy to open (seemed like a replacement door), bathroom had patched tile on the tub wall, there was caulking placed around the tub that was very shoddy looking, the toilet didn’t flush half the time and the sink and tub took a very looong time to drain. The room had 2 Queen beds (all that was available). After the 1st night sleep, I woke up and my eyes were swollen and my whole chest had a rash. I had an allergic reaction to the linen. I had to buy Benadryl for the reaction. The next night we slept in the other bed and I was fine (I don’t know why). The restaurants were ok. Not much of choice on the menus. The buffet (breakfast, lunch and dinner) were fantastic. Food was very good. More than I expected. Only issue we had at buffet, my wife got sick one morning so I went to buffet to get her a bite to eat and bring back to room. I was stopped and not allowed to bring plates out of buffet. So they had room service bring her the food and it took over an hour and the food was cold and soggy by the time it got there. She wound up walking down to buffet. Pool area and beach were 2nd to none. Overall we had a great vacation. There was one last thing...when checking out, MAKE SURE YOU EAT BEFORE YOU CHECK OUT.....We checked out then figured we would go eat at the buffet before leaving for airport. Nope, not allowed to. We were told we couldn’t eat at the buffet after we checked out. They sent us to some small little buffet with old cold food that was sitting there all day. This really pissed me off. I just spent $12k on a vacation and this is how we were treated. So as good of a vacation as I had.....This is why I personally wouldn’t go back.
Great for couples, but needs some upgrading
I booked the RIU Antillas due to numerous recommendations, as well as the all inclusive and adults only aspects. The service at the hotel was excellent. Everyone we interacted with was nothing but engaged and willing to do whatever to make our stay nothing less than perfect. The hotel was clean and aesthetically great. The individuals working on the beach do not get enough credit for their tiring work in the sun to get your chairs wherever you want as quick as possible. They were continuously cleaning up and removing unused chairs so the beach was not unnecessarily crowded. We did not spend much time at the pool, but there were activities all day long. The food and services associated with the food and drinks were amazing. The bartenders at all the bars were willing to make whatever you asked for and did not skimp. Where we were a little disappointed was the rooms. Not necessarily that they were dirty, but they needed some upgrading and improvement. The bathroom door did not exactly shut well, and there was an access panel in the shower ceiling that due to the wind kept blowing open exposing the inner workings of the ceiling. The bed and pillows were not exactly comfortable, and the sliding glass door to the balcony took incredible strength to open. Again, the cleaning crew kept the room exceptionally clean it is just they need to dedicate some funding to upgrading everything.
Loved the hotel!
My husband and I stayed here last week and we loved the resort! The restaurants were amazing as well as the buffet! Sandra in the buffet always made sure we had a table and Miguel (or Manuel I forget) always made sure we had a drink in our hand at the pool area. Pops from the entertainment team was amazing also she always greeted us with a smile. Vaca and Mauricio at the door were always friendly. The resort was extremely cleanly and was truly gorgeous. We spent 400$ for two couples down the street for dinner at Giannis because we wanted to try the pasta wheel and come to find out the next night we tried the dinner buffet at the hotel, which was all included and it included a pasta wheel. We will remember that for next time! Coby at around Aruba yours was great. We are already planning our return, this was our first time in Aruba.
