First experience w/ all inclusive- NOT disappointed
First off if you drink alcohol, all-inclusive is the way to go. We do not, that being said we applied hotel.com room credits and enjoyed our stay. Rooms are kinda dated but in a old mexico kinda way. 100% could see light coming under our door and likely allows bugs to enter..we saw NONE! I would say this is a B property.. grounds are A, staff A, room C, food C (hubby disagrees but he'll eat anything), service A, amenities B+. Not wanting to have to get myself around PV my criteria for a place to stay was Airport transfers and all inclusive, not many fit the bill in PV but this one does and we enjoyed outstay. 3/19, it was selling for $288 a night, after our credits we were at less then 150 a night. It's not selling at 380 a night..our credits put it at 200-250 a night...not walkable to anything, beach is nothing to write home about but overall because of our airline miles and hotel room credits our trip was less then $1000 for 5 days... without the discounts I doubt I would pay fill rate..might try another all inclusive. All in all it met our needs, we have zero regrets. Oh one more thing, if you want to do an excursion, be sure to go to the actual physical desk and not the little tables set up across the lobby...those are timeshare sales though the rep gave us a free city tour which i am glad we did not pay for because the bus ride through the area was the best part. The timeshare rep said if you enjoy the trip come back and see me for a presentation, no pressure...which I appreciated. Never heard from him again though he waved as we passed through the lobby each time.
Not Very Impressed
We were really somewhat disappointed with our stay at the Velas Vallarta for a number of reasons. First I'll list the pros of this hotel. Pros: Top-notch customer service, especially in the restaurants. Nice grounds, spacious rooms, good beach, great breakfast buffet, fantastic food, good location, really comfortable sleep. Cons: Only two restaurants to choose from. The pool wasn't all that great. Room decor and furnishings are a bit dated and not very luxurious, minimal offerings in the mini bar, poor quality alcoholic beverages - very stingy with the alcohol, poor menu selection (more about that below). One of the things we liked least about this hotel was the fact that it had only two restaurants, and what made that worse was that they were themed. In other words, one night would be Mexican night and another Asian night, and so forth. You were only able to order items for the theme of the day. We would prefer to order what we want, when we want. We were really wanting a good Mexican meal and were disappointed twice while at the hotel. The day we arrived they were having a Mexican Fiesta buffet with entertainment. The buffet was mediocre at best and the entertainment was so-so. Then we waited for Mexican night at the Andrea restaurant and were again disappointed. The food was good, but it wasn't what we were expecting or wanted. It was contemporary Mexican food. It was very delicious, but we were really in the mood for a more traditional Mexican meal. In order to get that, we had to go to a restaurant outside of the hotel. And finally, we were very displeased with the quality of the alcoholic drinks available at the hotel. The piña coladas were made from a mix and if they had any alcohol at all, I certainly couldn't taste it. There margaritas were somewhat better, but they were pretty stingy with the tequila there too. Overall, we were not pleased with the all inclusive feature of this hotel. We will not be coming back.
We highly recommend this all inclusive resort. The food was so much better than any other all inclusive we have been at. The staff was friendly and helpful. The cleaning staff spent hours cleaning our room each day, we were amazed at their detail. The only negative is that they had very tiny ants in our main bedroom so I would say to keep sugary foods in the kitchen. We did not notice them till the last night. Great place to take your family!
This is a nice hotel. Here are the pros and cons: Pros: Spacious, clean rooms with refrigerator, microwave, stove, etc. Nice pools, very friendly staff, food is very good (but not great), no lines at the buffet, short cab ride to mall, Walmart, cruise port, etc. Cons: Food service in sit down restaurants can be slow. I was disappointed by the gym (they have 2 bikes, 2 treadmills, and 2 ellipticals) -- no weights or weight machines.
Excellent , will surely come again
Great place, lots of activities and entertainment. The all inclusive was out of this world. The hospitality of the people was over an above. The pool was very nice, the ocean color looked amazing but the water was hard to swim in.
