Depends upon your room
We stayed here a couple times over our 3 week stay in between timeshares. The first was as I expected - I did upgrade to a full view and it was wonderful. Right over the bay and we enjoyed our balcony time. We tried the buffet the first morning and it was too expensive and not that great. Skip it and run across the street to Splashers - great food and a much lower price. When we returned in between the next stay we used our points and an early check in so our g-kids could store the luggage and enjoy the lagoon. The room was not what I expected. Here - using your points does not recognize your loyalty to BonVoy. The room was over the convention hall roof facing into town, no view at all. We were on the 2nd floor and the room didn't seem to have the same attention to detail. We opted in on the new resort program, pay $22 and get 2 free drinks, snorkel equipment for 2 & an umbrella. Not what the package could have been. In all fairness the Queen Lili'uokalani Canoe Race was taking place at this hotel so it was chaotic. Every bit of the lagoon sand was occupied with boats and all of the grass by the cabanas were full of vendors. The snorkel equipment was for one hour so no going in and out at your leisure. Plus you had to watch carefully for the outriggers going out and back. We thought we'd do a cabana to relax for the day as they didn't fly out until night, but no one was on the same page. Some said it was open, others said there was no service (which there was not) so we ended up fending for ourselves and going to the bar for food. The drinks you got for free were limited to one meu - not what we drink. My lesson here is to check the events at this hotel before you book. One week made quite a difference in our experience. The previous stay would have been a 5. This is a great location to walk to town though. If you're just hanging about - no need for a car.
i stayed one night at the marriott for the second time, and my experience was nothing short of perfect. i had dinner with Lacey in the bistro and she was phenomenal. i would recommend this hotel to anyone in the area!
Nice location. Awesome staff.
We got checked in in less than 15 minutes. Devin did an awesome job. Was very friendly and accommodating. We got upgraded to an oceanfront as Titanium elites. There is a $22 resort fee for 2 chairs and 1 umbrella rental and 1hr snorkel gear rental. I also got a 2 free cocktails at the restaurants in house. There is a $25 self parking fee that I thought was free for Marriott members. Too steep in my opinion. I love that there is a beach access from the hotel. So convenient for my family with 2 little kids. Will probably not stay here again just because we prefer one with a kitchen to cook our meals and with no resort fee and free parking. (Like King’s Land in Waikoloa)
Live like King Kamehameha!
Beautiful resort. Shops are available in the area and excellent dining establsihments nearby. Hawaiian activities of every kind are located in the area. Great times are waiting for you! Look for the Holy Donut Shop nearby!
A Freed Spirit to Roam the World!
Stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott Kamehameha. Went to Kona to attend a friend's scattering of ashes at Kekaha Beach Park. It was an adventure to get to the beach because the road is so bad, lots of deep potholes. Amazing that we both made it to the beach to witness a very sad but happy farewell for a dear friend who wished to be scattered there! Now, his spirit is free to visit any shore in the world! I will certainly miss he conversations and the sharing of laughter. But I also know he is around looking after his beloved wife, friend, life partner, until it is time for her to join him. What a gentle and loving soul, I will miss him! The stay at Marriott Kamehameha was rather fitting, quiet and peaceful for a sad, yet happy ending.
