We went here several years ago and fell in love with the North Shore. Turtle bay was nice at that time and the hotel was clean. It was the views from our balcony that really sealed the deal for us. Beautiful morning sunrises and sunsets. At that time there were several seals on the beach and sea turtles nearby so we would walk around and enjoy the wildlife. Several shops and restaurants around too.
My family and I had dinner at The Point, which is the restaurant by the pool and overlooking the cliffs down to the ocean. We saw a gorgeous sunset and spent the evening watching surfers down below. There were a lot of people around ..lively but still very peaceful. The Bloody Mary and MaiTai were amazing!! And the fish sandwich was phenomenal!! I can’t wait come stay at this place next time!
Descent hotel room/amazing resort
We had a standard room that was clean but obviously old. The ottoman in our room was horribly stained & our TV remote didn’t have batteries..? But that was corrected quickly. We had a beautiful ocean view & the spa was really nice. The resort as a whole had many restaurants, offered a variety of activities, & a small private beach area. Hotels are limited on the North Shore so we would probably stay again. My husbanded golfed at the resort & loved it. There are also several gifts shops that have cute reasonably priced gifts.
Blackstone Group acquisition of Turtle Bay = Decline in luxury and service and Increased Fees and Nickle-and-Diming
The Blackstone Group's acquisition of Turtle Bay has resulted in the utter decline of the luxury and service that has historically characterized the resort. The fees are ever-increasing and cover less and less. In what was our 10th annual visit to Turtle Bay to celebrate our anniversary, we were disappointed that the resort, for the first time ever, failed to congratulate us or even acknowledge our celebration. Items like parking, beach chairs and beach umbrellas -- all of which were previously covered by the resort fee -- are now additional charges. Yet, the fee increases year over year. The Vista Level luxury rooms offer fewer amenities each year -- the morning breakfast is a cheap carb fest and the afternoon snack is mixed nuts and chocolate mints. Fortunately, Blackstone can't eliminate the actual perks of the location, although at this point, a luxury Airbnb North Shore rental would offer the same amazing location and views without the nickle-and-diming.
Turtle bay resort
Really good spot to stay, it’s a very nice resort and the staff are great. It has plenty of options for dining and activities and there’s lots of stuff to do within a 15 minute drive of the resort. I’d highly recommend the surf lessons and the kayak tour to see turtles.
