APPALLING POOL SERVICE
I recently reserved a Rum Fire cabana for the day at a rate of $150 + $250 min food and bev tab. There were four in our group, all new moms, trying to take a much deserved day off from full time jobs and full time families. The cabana comes with towels and full access to pools but is located some distance away from the pool itself. The pool is surrounded by loungers. On a mid-week day, there were many open and unoccupied. We purposely place our towels on two without any signs, clearly unused—completely dry, no belongings or towels near or on them, umbrella still closed. We planned to take a quick dip before our food was delivered then back to the cabana. We were in the pool for no more than 20 min. and when getting out we notice an attendant spreading towels on the same loungers. Confused, we ask “Are those our towels?” He continues spreading out the towels as he rolls his eyes at us. Without ever addressing us directly, he says half mumbling, if you want more towels you can go grab some over there, pointing at the far end of the pool. With post baby bodies, dripping wet and not exactly eager to leave without our towels. We ask again “But where are our towels?” He continues to give us attitude saying they had the loungers reserved for some other guests and if we want new towels we can go grab them ourselves. Not sure where “David” got his manners from but his attitude needs a major adjustment. Never mind the fact that it’s literally his job and we’re paying customers, his response was rude and completely classless in any setting. If it was the beach or public pool you’d get better treatment from complete strangers. It’s not that difficult. Any other decent human being would simply say “I’m sorry. I didn’t realize those were yours. Give me a minute and I’ll grab a few more” I’m completely appalled any company, let alone one in the HOSPITALITY industry, would place someone like David in any customer facing role. Safe to say we won’t be back. Thank goodness it was just a daycation and not an actual vacation. Think twice before booking. Don’t let the pretty pool sucker you in. The service is terrible and there are a million better places to stay and spend your hard earned time and money.
My wife and I stayed at the Sheraton Waikiki in early June for our honeymoon. This hotel is amazing! We were there for only 3 nights, but had a great experience staying here. We were upgraded to a deluxe ocean view room and were given free drink tickets as well as a free catamaran ride and a free gift from the gift store. The views from the room were incredible. Each time we were on the balcony I felt the need to take tons of pictures. This is in the heart of Waikiki beach and within walking distance to shops, bars, and restaurants. The infinity pool was also one of the highlights to mention. We rented two poolside lounge chairs one of the days and had fun hanging out by the pool. There was some renovations and construction going on that was pretty loud and distracting, but were able to look past it and it wasn’t a huge deal. The hotel staff and concierge were very friendly and helpful! Nothing but good things to say about this place. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and would 100% stay here again.
Terrible and Frustrating Booking Process
While our visit is not planned till October so I cannot comment specifically on the accommodations themselves, I wanted to share the extremely frustrating experience we have had just getting our family booked. This is with a conference rate so I particularly would have expected more. I’ve spent over two hours trying to book and spoken to more than four people none of which have been helpful and most of whom have referred me back to someone else. Traveling with small children can be a challenge enough. I don’t think it is excessive to try to coordinate accommodations ahead of time to ensure the most successful trip possible when you’re putting out an large amount of money. It is very possible that things will improve once we arrive but given the lack of support and follow through ahead of time it makes me question whether or not to stay there or to find other accommodations.
Stay elsewhere during construction
We are mostly enjoying the Sheraton Waikiki. We knew about the construction beforehand but it has been a factor. The room and balcony are nice and the edge pool is fabulous. However the noise in our room began at 8:00am today! Also there was no water in our room for 5 hours yesterday. We knew ahead of time and were able to use a hospitality room to shower so for us it was not a huge deal. In hindsight we should have stayed somewhere else. Still it’s nice and we would maybe return in the future once the construction is finished.
Quinton the BEST concierge
My husband and I are on our honeymoon and we are island hopping in Hawaii. The first thing on our to-do list when we check in to a new hotel is talk to the concierge to talk through recommendations. At the Sheraton in Waikiki QUINTON was extremely helpful!!! We first talked to a different concierge and she wasn’t helpful at all. She basically asked US what we want to do but we explained to her we’ve never been here and we’d like recommendations and told her what we like - we told her we were big hikers and adventure seekers and she basically just stared at us with a blank face. We left that 45min meeting with her with ZERO recommendations, what a waste of time. We heard Quinton next to us wishing we sat with him instead. We decided to go back to talk to him the next morning and he was SO HELPFUL!!! He HEARD us, our desires and expectations for what we wanted and suggested the BEST things for US and our liking. We basically did everything he recommended and are SO grateful!!! He became our GO TO man. Whenever my husband saw him working he’d go to him with every question lol one morning Quinton wasn’t there and we had a quick question so we were stuck with another random concierge.. Who looked at us as if we asked the stupidest question. Regardless if it was stupid to them, you should NEVER make your guests feel like that. We highly recommend the concierges here take note and learn from Quintons approach. We’re big fans! Thank you Quinton 🙏🏼
