Fabulous beachfront hotel
My Daughter, Grandson and myself stayed at this beautiful hotel for 6 nights. I requested a room on a low floor ( due to having a toddler) and we were given a beautiful room with a patio on the floor overlooking the pool. The beds were really comfy and the bathroom had ample towels and toiletries provided and replenished daily. We used the free trolley to visit the Ala moana shopping centre and diamond head .The pool area was very spacious with plenty of sunbeds available. We loved this hotel, the staff were all so helpful and friendly. Looking forward to our next visit in October
Mixed experience but below expectations
Booked the Outrigger Reef after lengthy research and reading reviews, as well as speaking to the hotel itself. We booked an ADA room which was partial ocean view and two double beds. I do find it disappointing that ADA room options are a partial ocean view at best. When we checked in the lady was not particularly friendly and a little snappy when I was asking questions about the layout of the resort. We were also told that there would be a portable ramp to the beach out the front of the resort. One of the main reasons we booked was to have this direct beach access; but when we arrived staff told us that the ramp was no longer being used? Or had disappeared? It was somewhat confusing as “oh yes of course we have a ramp” was the initial response from many of the hotel staff. Regardless the housekeeping staff were lovely as were the bell staff on a daily basis. In regards to the food and beverage service, we were quite disappointed with the grill area by the pool. Very hastily put together and lacking in taste. We only ate here one night as there were far better options around the hotel. The drinks were very sweet with poor balance and the wait staff appeared to be more interested in attending to large groups spending lots that the three in my party. Location wise, the resort is in the quieter end of the hotel strip along Waikiki but situated around nice restaurants shops and with the fort derussy beach park to the right. Be aware that the beach is very rocky when compared to Waikiki beach itself - I recommend wearing some booties as I cut my foot quite badly. We did however see 3 turtles come up very close in shallow water of the beach park. I did notice also that the hotel decor is quite dated, very little powerpoints in the rooms to charge devices and the WiFi hit and miss. We did enjoy the nightly Hawaiian live music that we could hear from our balcony typically when we were getting ready for dinner. Overall, this resort did not live up to my expectations given the research I had done and the amount I paid. I would not stay here again and don’t feel like it was well suited for our needs or that we were 100% welcomed. Regardless I appreciated the attendance shown by the bell staff and housekeeping.
Not as expected
We mainly booked this resort because it's a beachfront resort and good review but not as good as we expected and not worth for the money spent. Beach is short and narrow with all rocks. Room is just okay, below average 4 star. One of our room was booked as two beds but they assigned one bed at first and we had to back and forth to get to the two beds finally. One thing I liked is staffs are nice and helpful but I guess it's from Hawaiians in general.
Great ocean front location - perfect for a family stay
The upside - we had an ocean front room that slept 2 adults and a child comfortable. The sound of the ocean at night was magical. The location is excellent - literally right on the sand, and central to everything Waikiki has to offer. We had a package which included access to the Club - the terrace was lovely in the evening for a drink and view of the sunset The beach to the right of the hotel is great - rent a lounge and relax under the umbrella. We swam with turtles right off the beach On the whole the food was OK, nothing special. The downside - the pool is in the centre of the complex, surrounded by buildings and very crowded. It is possible to swim in front of the hotel, but as the name suggests you are on a reef. Service at the hotel was patchy. Good for a family. All in all a good stay
Not what I expected and when I said something I was told by the lady well you didn’t pay enough money for that. Also bell staff rude and not helpful when it come to getting rides and if you book your own they really snub you.
