We set up a vacation package for our honeymoon which included a 5 day stay at this hotel. The Good: The assistant manager, Roland, was very quick to respond and helpful when it came to a billing issue we had. The location is also great, within walking distance of shopping, food, and more. The staff, especially the housekeeping staff, was very kind, helpful, and attentive. The pool area is also nice and the coffee shop onsite is awesome. I sincerely appreciate that they keep bibles in the room. Not many hotels do that now a days. Our balcony view was also very nice. The Bad: There is $25 daily "resort fee" we were charged without being told it was an optional payment that covered wifi, the trolley, and a few other amenities we didn't have any need for. Thankfully, this was resolved but I do think charging for wifi in this day and age is a bit tacky. There is also a $35 daily fee for parking. My first impression wasn't great as the hotel is very outdated. If I had a nickle for every time the elevator doors closed on myself or others, it would have paid for our entire stay. I also was disappointed that the hotel rooms didn't have a bathtub but only a shower and that the pool closed so early (9PM). Finally, the activities people in the lobby were a bit pushy which my husband didn't particularly appreciate.
Okay for the price!
I stayed at this hotel for 5 nights as part of a Jetstar package deal. Outstanding location with it being walking distance to the beach, shops and the bus stop is right across the road. You get a pink trolley ticket included in your stay which is great for those wishing to visit Ala Moana shopping centre in particular. Wifi was fantastic as well- we used it a lot for family Facetime chats and never had an issue. We stayed on level 7, the room itself was exceptionally well maintained and very clean. We couldn't open the balcony door for a day or 2 as it appeared jammed and took a lot of pushing to eventually get it opened. It's also extremely noisy at night especially with sirens blaring all hours of the night. Biggest negative for me was the elevators! Took me 15 minutes to get to the lobby one morning from my floor at about 7am. They are very slow and unreliable.
Planned a trip with our son and wife. Made the reservations in early March and requested rooms close to each other. We checked in before our son and discovered the next day that close to Ohana East is 15 floors. They could not change rooms and made all kinds of excuses and promises. Two bed rooms weren't available next to use. LIE. they were making up the two bed rooms when we walked by to our room. Only response I received was after making a facebook post that is now conveniently deleted. The manger then called and said they would correct it. I never heard back even though they had my cell number. After giving them negative feedback he said we declined a move to the 17th floor. I don't know what planet he is from but I couldn't refuse if it was never offered. I had more to do on this vacation then stand at the desk and hope for a better outcome. We enjoyed the trip but this was kind of a bad side note. The rooms were a little outdated and dingy. Felt like they used the old furnishings of the more expensive hotels. The entrance is a little sketchy if you enter from the parking garage and it is hard to find the front entrance when you are driving in.
Conveniently located, this hotel is part of the Outrigger group. Went to my room and was impressed with the size and amount of light. A corner room, 509, I turned the ac off and opened the lanai door to get some fresh air. I found no screen and much noise but wanted the fresh air. Went to take a shower, closed the lanai door, and found hair in the shower stall. I abhor hair. As clean as the stall looked I was disappointed. Coming back into the room I heard the wind and the lanai door making noise due to the wind. At this point I am hoping it does not effect my sleep. Lying on the bed and watching tv a bug that looked like a cockaroach strolled across the bed. I captured it and threw it down the toilet. I called the front desk to let them know. They said they can send housekeeping up and they would spray. Spray as I am going to sleep. Wow, that was not a good solution. I am hoping that I get done sleep and have no nightmares.
A Central Place to Stay
Stayed here for 1 week and could not fault it. All staff were friendly and accommodating. Fantastic location with the Beach, Pink Line Trolley & The Bus stops a few minutes away. Wi-Fi coverage was quick and we had no issues with long waits for the elevators. Our Waikiki View Room was clean & comfortable and met our needs. We encountered no noise. Our only NEGATIVE comment is that we needed more time!!! Well done OHANA Waikiki East, keep up the good work and we hope to return sometime.
