Huge shout out to @antoniodelacruz. His service as a bell boy was amazing. He was very efficient and super friendly. He always had the biggest smile and made sure to bring you right quick to your destination. He is a very hardworking young man. Thank you from your Canadian friends. #BEEPBEEP 👏🙌🏽
We just returned from two weeks at BBGE. Overall we would say that it provided good value. The beach is not great so if you are expecting beautiful blue water, this is not for you. We went to both Peuerto Morales and Playa and both beaches there are world class. We took the $5 per person each way to playa from the hotel at scheduled times and it was great. We had to cab to Peueto. We had an issue with our room and were switched without complications and the staff showed up when they said they would and the room was ready as well. We found the rooms large and the shower area as well. The pool areas are diverse. The main pool is huge and the animation team around the pool were as good as we have seen. Drink service was a little underwhelming at times on the beach and at the pool area and this was strictly due to not enough staff( more on this). The swing bar and the beach bar both were lots of fun and the service was good. The smaller pool was much quieter and good to get out of the wind for awhile. The food was really inconsistent. I read somebody saying the buffetts were inedible, not sure where they eat. We found it like most buffets, lots of choices and mundane after awhile but we found the food to be good. There were a few nights when there were decent lineups for food. Staff here were great. Note- there are no carvary stations like some other resorts. The ala cartes were where the inconsistency occurred. I ordered the exact same meals on different weeks at the Mexican and the Italian and there were totally different results. The second week it seemed that in both cases they were not staffed properly which may have been the challenge. Steak house was good twice, the French was the best in our opinion, the oriental was underwhelming and we did not go to the seafood due to allergies. The shows at night had high production value compared to other resorts, we found it worthwhile to go. The shows are nightly at 9:30. There were mosquitoes and we would recommend bringing spray. Overall, we found the value to be adequate for what we paid. I would give the resort three and half but didn’t have that option.
As a circle one member we have been vacationing at Bluebay for eleven years! As usual the grounds were lovely. All the restaurants had great food, the only thing missing was Angel in the Italian restaurant..The food was still good but the atmosphere was not as warm and inviting without him. As returning guests i know my husband and i as well as other members missed seeing him. Another member in the VIP area mentioned it as well. Also ther were men in shorts in the restaurant. since when is that allowed?? The service was very good at all the bars however i noticed all the bartenders were more then happy to serve top shelf liquor to anyone who requested it not just members who paid to have that luxery as defined being in the Circle One program! Interesting?? We look forward to returning in April and hope to see Angel back in the Italian where is management skills are better utilized. Also Eren is always so wonderful. What a lovely lady.
My girlfriend and I have just returned from our 11 night stay at the Blue Bay. Its a very nice resort and we would return. However, there are a few things which would make our visit much better if the hotel rectified these things. PROS: 1. The hotel is very clean with lots of pleasent staff. Our room was cleaned everyday. 2. The beds are very big and comfy. The bed sheets are also soft and clean. 3. The pools are a good size and not overly busy. 4. The entertainers are good in the main pool with Alejandro being our favourite and best. 5. All the staff we encountered during our stay were very polite and helpful - nothing was too much. 6. The al-la-carte restaurants were very nice, we enjoyed the Mexican and seafood the most. 7. The drinks were good, and the bar staff were generous with the measurements of alcohol. CONS: 1. We were in an room in block 6 on the fourth floor. We had an adjoining door in our room and our neighbours. This meant we could hear everything next door (even if they wasn't being loud) , and seemingly they could hear us. Even if the doors were shut this did not help. They provide no sound proofing and I don't see any real purpose. 2. Not only the adjoining doors, but the main doors are not fit for purpose. Again you can hear everything along the corridor with people talking and running. Also they slam quiet easily and we were woke up several times during our stay in the middle of the night by people returning from Coco Bongos at 3am. 3. The resort is large, and we were situated in block 6. Albeit there is a pool here (which is the 'quiet' pool with no entertainment or sea breeze), the main pool and beachfront is a good 10 minute walk from the block. In the heat this can sometimes become a chore. 4. Due to the size, the hotel quiet rightly put on buggies that go via the hotel to help people get there quicker/ save the walk. However, some of the drivers of these buggies are totally reckless going around corners silly speeds. We often found ourselves jumping out the away to avoid being wiped out. 5. The dress code for the al-la-carte restaurants for men (French, Italian, Mexican, Oriental) is formal and long trousers are required. Whilst I agree with the formal dress code. But whilst on holiday you don't particularly want to be wearing long trousers. Especially being burnt etc. You can easily look smart whilst wearing a nice shirt with chino shorts or similar and this should be considered by management. 6. Our biggest disappointment was the beach. The water was dirty with large inflatable wave breakers. Also a large water pump right on the beach which was also abit of an eyesore. Certainly not the beautiful beach which was explained to us by Tui when we booked it. There is a beautiful lagoon about a 10 minute walk down the beach. But again, in the heat this can be abit of a chore. Overall, we were happy with our stay and we had a good time, however it would have been a much better stay should these things be rectified.
Great Stay and a Great Recommendation
We loved the hotel and the swimming pool and the great food. Also, I wish to give a very high recommendation to Yesuca the Concierge in building 5. She went out of her way to reserve just the right dining and time for our dinners. I have a recommendation that could be a great marketing advantage. Place railings on the steps and in the bath rooms and near the toilets in the public baths as well as in several of the rooms. There was only 1 handicapped room when we checked in and it way far away from the pool where we wanted to be . The lack of railing made it hard for my partner. You could then recommend that your hotel is ADA or American Disability Act compliant, which would be great for business.
