Great stay! This hotel was great and the staff were super friendly. The amenities were great especially the pool, restaurant, and golf! Shoutout to Sierra and Ian for definitely being great! Will definitely stay here again.
Enjoyed Our Stay!
My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon for a week. It was in a beautiful location and the staff were absolutely wonderful. The room was so clean and you could tell it had been recently renovated and well taken care of. We definitely feel as if we got our use out of the resort fee, between the free juice/drinks every day and valet alone. With the included snorkel gear rental, flippers were extra but the fee included the mask and snorkel. We stayed in the Kilauea tower, which was really nice because there were not many rooms down the hallway and the elevator was relatively quick. There were many places to lounge around and enjoy the bay view around the hotel as well, so we didn't feel like we had to compete with other guests for places to sit. Pool towels were available for free at the snorkel/kayak rental shack during business hours instead of being available on a shelf near the pool. While this hotel is not located in a central tourist area, it was still really enjoyable as it was a short drive to downtown Hilo, and a Walmart was within 10 minutes away of the hotel. Overall, I would definitely stay here again and would recommend this hotel!
Older hotel in a beautiful location!
This is an older hotel (built in 1939) that has been largely renovated. It is in a beautiful location on the shores of the bay next to Liliuokalani Gardens. There was a full service restaurant on the ground floor with indoor and outside seating. They served a full buffet breakfast as well as continental breakfast in the mornings. The rooms were clean and had a great view of the bay. They were somewhat small with moderate space for luggage. The bathrooms appeared to be re-done but there was only one sink, so you had to take turns. The air conditioning worked in one room but not the other. I think they were older units since they were loud and located under a counter. I didn't mind staying here as the location and the vibe were good. Staff was all great too. I just wish the air conditioning was better since it was hot when we were there and there are no operable windows or ceiling fans. Other than that it was fine.
Better hope your hotel neighbors are quiet
We chose this hotel due to lack of options in Hilo. The outdoor property is small, but the grounds are nice. Extremely small pool for a hotel of its size. It's located in a nice walkable area with parks and gardens nearby. Staff was friendly and the on-site restaurant was good. While this hotel is not luxurious by any stretch, our room was comfortable and clean. However, our room was insanely loud due to an adjoining room door.. and boy did we get to know our neighbors in that time. We heard every sneeze, throat clear, conversation, suitcase unzip, and we even knew when they used the bathroom! They weren't exceptionally loud - the room just had no barrier/insulation against any sound, no matter how small. It sounded like they were in the room with us. We both had to sleep with noise-canceling headphones on and even they didn't help mask all of the noise next door. We only stayed two nights and that was plenty. If you want a decent nights sleep on your vacation, I don't recommend staying here. I promise you won't get one.
Great place to stay in Hilo!
This place was popping!! So many people checking in/out but the wait was relatively short. We got up to our room and had a great view of the bay, pool and Moana Kea in the distance. The hotel is in great shape! The staff was friendly, but not like in Kona. I noticed the people in Hilo had a lower level of enthusiasm than the people in Kona. It was kinda weird. The gift shop is stupid expensive!! So bad that I told my family to stay out. We ate our meals at Hula Hulas. I think you need reservations for inside seating, we tried the first night and couldn't get in. We sat down right away at the outside seating. They had a band that wasn't very good and very loud. No band would have been way better. Unfortunately, when we were able to sit inside our last night, the music was just as bad and just as loud. The food was great!! I had the double cheeseburger and it was very tasty! The second dish I had was the fish tacos and they were fantastic! Waitstaff were friendly and pretty prompt with our requests for water and drinks. Our room was over the pool so we had quite a bit of crowd noise for a while. Partially due to a soccer tournament going on somewhere on the island and the hotel was a landing spot for some of the teams. By 10pm or so it died down. Other than that it was a great room with a gorgeous view!
