    Disappointed with super low expectations.

If you watched kitchen nightmares - this hotel should be on the list if the producer wants to make a new reality show for hotels. Our expectation is super low - stay one night, check in around 8:00 pm and check out around 1:00 pm. Parking - Self-park. I have to park my car outside the hotel - across the street. Check-in: The whole process took me about 15 minutes. The stuff left during the check-in process twice for no reasons. I requested a late check-out and they asked me to call back the next day morning. Meanwhile a loud band was playing some kind of music to add the pressure level lol.. Room: Looks like a timeshare room or college dormitory to me. Breakfast: I got a coupon - "As an Elite Hilton member, you will have complimentary continental breakfast for ONE PERSON valued at $11.00 each. Upgrade available if you paid $10.00 extra." I laughed so hard. I also requested late check-out the next day morning. The stuff told me - "Thanks for being a valuable diamond member, you can check out at 12:00". I laughed and asked what was the original check out time and it was 11:00 AM. Anyway.. don't waste your money or points here.

A big improvement from previous stays

I've stayed at the Naniloa several times in the past before it became a Hilton property. I was unimpressed then as the property was tired and in need of a renovation. During a recent business trip, I was pleasantly surprised by how much the Naniloa had changed. Numerous KTR prints adorning the hallways, lobby, and room was a nice touch. Check in was pleasant and efficient; the front desk staff were welcoming and informative. My room was spacious enough for myself and well appointed with mini fridge, microwave, flat screen HD TV, and closet space. The bathroom was typical of most hotels. Hot water and water pressure were fine. Since I was an Honors member, I did have access to the premium wifi (it was fast enough for my needs) so I can't speak to the speed of the regular wifi. Valet parking was included in the resort fee; the wait time for my car was a few minutes. The hotel staff that I met were all friendly; from front desk to valet to housekeeping. The hotel was busy and it was good to see a lot of tourist in Hilo.

    Loud, sketchy, disappointing

The negative reviews are spot on. We are Hilton Diamond members and this is one of the most disappointing Hilton hotels we’ve been to. The wait in the check in line was well over 45 minutes. During that time we saw an array of rude drunks and vagrants, one who walked in and demanded a room ( only to be escorted out after holding up the line for 20 minutes), while loud live band music was playing from two different areas. Despite asking for a quiet room in advance, we were given a room right about the pool/bar, which equaled more loud live band and drunk yelling cacophony. The reception “free drinks” are limited to a whisky punch which is pretty terrible. Who drinks that and how is it Hawaiian? The hotel is flanked by closed down properties/restaurants. There isn’t much else in the area. The pool is small and underwhelming and so is the beach area (not much of one). All of that said, it is likely the nicest property in this run down area. The view of the ocean is nice, it is still Hawaii, after all. I wouldn’t stay here again, not worth the money.
