Greening Your Life: Part of the Apple Vacations Greening Your Life initiative, this property uses 100% of its green waste for compost and also sends wet waste from kitchens to pig farmers for feed, which helps to reduce landfill waste considerably. Waste cooking oil is collected and processed into biodiesel fuel, while the 4,000 sq. foot on-site hydroponics farm supplies the resort's restaurants and events with approximately 120lbs. of fresh produce per week.
Landscaping is tended to with biological pest controls over harsh chemical options.
The property also utilizes heat produced by the air-conditioning system by converting the output into heat water for guestrooms and swimming pools. On top of that, nearly 60,000 sq. ft. of grass-covered roofing helps to reduce cooling needs. Guests can also enjoy cashmere-soft robes, which are made from 100% recycled bottles.

Amazing resort and spa
Truly amazing resort on an amazing island. The views from this location are second to none, and the staff is just as great - they are super friendly and helpful in every way. Because of they way I booked my stay (combination of different reservations between different accounts), my reservation was a bit complicated, but they front desk staff took care of everything seamlessly. I would go back in a heartbeat.
Best on island
Best on island, great staff, great food, rooms were quite and clean. Great breakfast. Beautiful grounds. Of all the hotels and resorts on Kauai this by far is the best. We stayed here 12 years ago and came back again. Great for couples and families
Exceptional High-End Resort Experience But Limited Casual Dining
We had a great trip at the Grand Hyatt! The pool, lazy river and salt water lagoon were amazing for the kids -- let's be real, dad was all over that waterslide too. With such an amazing pool for the kids I was surprised that the rest of the resort wasn't as family friendly. We found ourselves eating off-site a lot since there were limited casual dining and simple breakfast options. Plan for $300-400+ per day for meals for a family of four if you eat on-site (and our kids are very young). We actually enjoyed the fine dining a few nights, but it wasn't what we wanted every night. Fortunately, there's a Starbucks down the road for quick fix breakfast option and a number of good casual restaurants within a few miles. Definitely book a catamaran ride to see the Napali coast and drive up the Waimea canyon to the top.
Why we keep coming back to Hyatt
I am in the travel business and as such have spent many nights in may hotels/resorts all over the world. In my experience Hyatt always comes through ahead of the rest and this time was no exception. If you have kids, this place is amazing with all the amenities and activities offered to keiki. We had one minor hiccup with some food left in our room which the evening turn-down staff assumed was trash and threw away. However within a matter of minutes of my wife reporting the issue, we were offered a very generous credit to be used for ANYTHING we wanted at the resort! THIS is why we continue to use Hyatt as our hotel of choice.
I will come back every year. This place is special! The saline pool.... the hike to watch the sun rise. Wonderful staff and service at the golf resort next door... We were talking about our stay every day after we left.
