Will be back!
This hotel is GORGEOUS. We booked a Preferred Club Ocean Front Jr Suite. Great view facing front to the ocean. Was offered an upgrade upon arrival to the master suite for $300 usd per night, and we declined it and were very happy with the gorgeous view of our jr suite and the spaciousness of it. Only issue with the room is that the sliding door between the room and bathroom is the width of the room and it has slats that are placed 1 inch apart. This means that if someone uses the bathroom / turns on the light while the other person is sleeping, well, it will wake up the other person. Our butlers, Gustavo and Leticia could not have been nicer and more attentive. They checked up on us via WhatsApp to see if we needed anything, and sent us the daily activities, etc. There were a few things that stood out to me about this property - the quality furnishings and finishes giving it a boho chic vibe, the amazing live entertainment, and the Seaside Grill for lunch. My favorite event was the Mexican Fiesta night. The hotel goes all out to set up tables and a Mexican buffet at the beach, with a stage with live entertainment - a Trio, followed by a full Mariachi band and dancers. Do NOT MISS the MEXICAN FIESTA! It was truly the highlight of our stay! In addition to the Mex Fiesta, there were 2 live Cuban bands. We caught the Cuban Jazz one night at Rendezvous from 9:30-11:00pm and the other one played one afternoon at the Preferred Lounge from 1:00-2:30. There was also a really good trumpet player. Loved it all, more of this type of music would be great. Rendezvous bar was so much fun. Great vibe, live music, nice drinks (remember, stick to the skinny jalapeno margaritas)! The Preferred Pool was lovely and the pool concierges will find you a spot if you ask. Definitely check in with them as they keep a notebook with the room numbers that have checked in. There are signs that indicate that chairs reserved for 45 minutes will be removed. I personally witnessed the staff removing belongings, which I greatly appreciated. The only downside is that there were 2 groups on our first day that BROUGHT THEIR OWN SPEAKERS. Hmmmm, trust me, no one wants to listen to your lame 90s music and your terrible singing. We moved to the Infinity pool and all was well again. This would be easily solved by banning personal speakers and maybe having some of the same music as the main pool had. The other pools were great - love the music and activities in the main pool (dance lessons at 3, aquamat exercises), and the gorgeous view and swim up bar at the Infinity Pool (better than Preferred). Jungle pool was so laid back and chill - we discovered it too late! Beach was very nice. Preferred had its own area, but was mostly taken with pay-per-day Bali beds that sat empty. Most palapas in Preferred area were behind the dunes with no ocean view. Chairside drink service at the pools and beach (both Preferred and Non-Preferred) was very attentive. We sat in the non-preferred section and it was lovely. The resort does not take dining reservations, which we LOVED. We hate being tied to a reservation time and we didn't have any issues getting seated when we wanted to eat. This was a huge plus of this resort. Food was good with a few things being great. Here are the great items: beef carpaccio at Himitsu's dinner, whole fish, aguachile, and guac at Oceana's lunch, shrimp and fish tacos and octopus at Seaside's lunch, enchiladas at Seaside's breakfast. I do need to mention that we were there in January and it wasn't hot, but Oceana at lunch got uncomfortably hot because it sits in the sun and the buildings block the breeze. Drinks were OK. Mixers tasted artificial. Coconut cream tasted artificial. Fruity drinks tasted artificial. Only "natural" fruit juice to flavor cocktails was lime. Only one brand of wine and it wasn't great. We stuck to the Sauvignon Blanc - it was the better one of the ones offered. Any other wines (at the restaurants) had a crazy price. Our waiter at Bordeaux tried to upsell us a $200 usd bottle of Mexican Malbec. Wines were not quite to the level included at other resorts in this area, in a similar price range as Secrets. But, Secrets did have top-shelf liquor for vodka, tequila, etc., and the spicy jalapeno skinny margaritas hit hard, as did the skinny mojitos! So, I would recommend to stick with those and you will be very happy! If you are preferred, do not wait until the last minute to book your included hydrotherapy at the spa. We waited too long and when we reached out to our butler about going the last day, they only had 4pm and 5pm slots available, and we were leaving the resort at 2:30pm. So, don't be us and don't have so much fun that you forget to book this! Would we do Preferred again? Probably not because the best aspects of this resort are available to all guests and that is a great thing! The beach, pools, restaurants, activities / entertainment available to all guests are great. I hope that stays the same. It's annoying when resorts take away from the general guest experience for their preferred. The view from our room was lovely, but the resort is small, so it's very easy to walk over and see the ocean. We will definitely return to this resort and will book the least expensive room ;-) We booked directly through Hyatt Inclusive, (which goes to the legacy Secrets reservations platform). Note that my reservation did NOT show in the Hyatt website nor app before travel, but I did get the Hyatt points for the stay after it was completed, and I also started getting emails 7 days, almost exactly to the hour before check-in time. There were ice storms expected back home that would likely affect our return, and the airline was providing a waiver to return a day later. I called Secrets and they could not / would not modify our stay. They only offered to book an additional stand-alone night at the rate on the website - at the cost of 60% more per night than what I had booked the previous month. When it was clear the day before returning home that there would be issues, I reached out to our butler and they offered something similar - a stand-alone night with the rate showing on the Hyatt Inclusive site, at 80% more per night than what I had booked. It's very possible I did not reach out to the right people (and that's on me!), but be warned that unlike other resorts and operators, adding a night due to weather problems does not seem to be easy at at Secrets. We stayed an extra day at a Cancun airport hotel, with many other stranded travelers and that killed our Secrets vibe.

Dare I say, best resort in Mexico?
Our experience at Secrets Playa Blanca far exceeded all expectations. It was our honeymoon, and also our first trip to Mexico/All Inclusive. We are so thankful to Amstar for the great transportation to the resort and also back to the airport. We were not aware of the proximity of where the resort was from the airport, but the ride was very safe and smooth. When we arrived we had the most stunning greeting, a sunset and champagne glasses. We kept saying to each other that it all felt unreal. From the moment we arrived, all staff were so kind and welcoming. Carlos helped us with our bags and also showed us around the resort - he was extremely kind and informative. He definitely set the bar for the week. Our room was clean, spacious and felt so luxurious. The entire bathroom layout was perfect for us, and just thought the entire room flowed so well. It's everything we could have wanted for a honeymoon. Maria was our housekeeper and she did a phenomenal job. Every day our rooms were cleaned spotless and we could not be more grateful for her. We had stayed as preferred guests and for us, it was well worth it. We loved the quiteness of the preferred bar our first night. After having a long day of flights, we were able to find a comfortable spot to unwind from our day. We went back everyday and just soaked in the beautiful atmosphere. The vibe was energetic yet cozy. The preferred pool was really the only pool we went to. We never had a hard time finding chairs and loved being able to relax and enjoy our day there. Our server, Daniel, was one of our favorite servers. He was incredibly attentive and personal. He's a mainn reason we went back to the preferred pool. Elias the pool conceirge was great as well. I wish I could learn how to get my glasses as clean as he does it. Multiple times we discussed if preferred was worth it, and we emphatically agreed that it was. Besides the preferred pool, we spent the majority of our "relaxing" time at the beach. Stunning white sands greeted us everyday and I never saw a single piece of trash. Aramis was a wonderful server. He was extremely kind and never let our drinks run dry. If you go to the beach, you're gonna want to have him as your server. The beach itself is amazing, but it's even better with Aramis around. The service was our favorite part of the resort. Every morning and lunch we would eat at seaside, and were lucky enough to have Edgar as our server. If there is anyone at the resort you'd hope to meet, it would be Edgar. He made us feel right at home and like one of our friends. Coupled with the delicious food and drink, we'd come back to the resort just for Edgar. We also want to mention Sixto, who went above and beyond for us at seaside. At El Patio, Jordi became another one of our favorites. Extremely genuine and introduced us to the churro - which changed our lives. The staff at the Coco cafe kept us going all week with their fabulous coffees - I wish they were right down the road from me! Alejandro at Himitsu put on an incredible performance at the teppanyaki tables and Eric was there to wait on us hand and foot. Because of Alejandro and Eric, the teppanyaki table will be an experience we will never forget! If you're looking for a laid back and chill atmosphere, Alfredo at sugar reef is your guy. We loved spending time there when he was working because he perfected the vibe. Merica at Rendevous was joy as a human! Gloria and Antonio were our phenomenal butlers. So attentive and helped make our entire stay one we will never forget. My husband worked with Gloria to surprise me for our honeymoon, and I never thought I'd be lucky enough to experience something like that. Overall, our experience at Secrets Playa Blanca was 12/10. This was the best place to celebrate our honeymoon. A well kept and stunning resort in every aspect. We relaxed and enjoyed everything it had to offer. There was not one meal we did not rave over and if you have a chance, reserve a massage with Nelly at the spa! Oh, how we loved the staff there and wish we could've stayed longer. We our counting down the days until we go back.

Great time at Secrets Playa Blanca
We had a wonderful time at SBC for a 8 day stay. We were in Preferred Club and building 3. This was close to the Preferred Club Pool and Bar, as well as breakfast at Seaside Grill. Our Butlers (Duran & Demi) were fantastic. They always were asking what they could do to make our stay more special. They made reservations for the Spa, Bali Beds and the Teppanyaki Table at Himitsu. We appreciated everything they did for us. We dined at all of the restuarants, except for El Patio. Our favorite was Portofino. We enjoyed our first meal there so much, we went back on our last night to dine there again. Also want to give a shout out to Elias at the Preferred Pool. He was so attentive to our needs. We would definitely stay here again.
