We spent four nights at this resort and had the best time. The staff is exceptional (special call out to Carlos, Oscar and Ari for being great!). The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Every meal we had was amazing. Our room was comfortable and clean. Really, this is the best resort we have ever stayed at!

Second time with Montana Breakfast Flakes Trip
The service was excellent!! I would like to thank Damien from the restaurants for his attention to detail and friendliness. Also all of the various pool waiters from the Montana girls known as "double trouble".

Beautiful beaches
One of the most Beautiful resorts I've ever been to. The beach was amazing with soft sand and crystal clear water. The staff was so attentive and the food was incredible!

Wonderful Resort
Resort: We loved the location of the resort—it was lush, tropical, and had a wonderfully remote feel. The grounds were stunning and exceptionally well-maintained, and it was fun to see wildlife as we walked around. We’ve stayed at a resort in the Cancun area before, but we preferred the quieter, more secluded atmosphere here. The beach was beautiful, and the staff worked hard to keep the seaweed under control. We especially loved being able to walk right into the water and actually see clearly—it was crystal clear and not too cold. Food/Drinks: All of the food was very good, with a nice variety of options. The French and Italian restaurants do require reservations, so I recommend booking those on your first day. We didn’t do that and ended up with some late dinner times, but since we were on vacation, it wasn’t a big deal for us. Drinks at the beach and pool were noticeably watered down, so we preferred the higher-quality drinks available at the Preferred Lounge. Experiences: My husband had been in the water several times along the perimeter of the roped-off area and hadn’t seen a turtle, so we decided to book a snorkeling excursion. Victor and his team offer snorkeling directly on the beach for Secrets guests, and that’s who we used. I was very nervous to snorkel since I didn’t know how to swim, but our guide, Jose, was incredibly patient and reassuring. I didn’t make it very far out into the water, but I appreciated that he never made me feel bad for backing out. Preferred / Not Preferred: We booked Preferred and were very glad we did. We loved the location of our building (Building 4), which was close to both the pools and the beach. The Preferred Lounge ended up being our favorite perk—the drinks and snacks were excellent, and it was a calm, relaxing place to spend time. We didn’t end up eating at the Greek restaurant, which is another Preferred benefit, but we still felt the upgrade was well worth it. Staff Member Shout-Outs: Damien at Seaside was incredibly sweet. We saw him all over the resort, and he always stopped to talk with us and made us feel so welcome. Diego at the Preferred Lounge was a fantastic bartender. My husband even worked with him on how to make an American old-fashioned, and they had a lot of fun with it. Diego was always smiling and friendly. Aleandro at the Preferred Lounge also made great drinks. He was attentive and consistently friendly. Dinia (not sure on the spelling), a server at the Preferred Lounge, was so kind. She always greeted us warmly and asked about our day.

10 out of 10, we will be back.
This was our first time venturing out of the hotel zone in Cancun for a relaxing vacation, and it was well worth the hour drive from the airport! Everything at Secrets Akumal was beautiful, the service was personal and on point for every interaction. The lush landscape made you feel like you were tucked away on your own island. The beach was beautiful, water was calm enough to enjoy and swim. Beach was flat enough to walk, we walked half a mile or more down the beach every day. Fun snorkeling right off the beach—equipment easy and affordable to rent from resort. We did a snorkeling excursion right down the beach into the protected sea turtle area and it was great! Plus we just walked over and swam out—zero time on a bus or boat. We went with “Johnny”—always in orange. He added photos and video for an extra charge but it was fun to have a ton of footage to share with our kids. Perfect for us! The food was amazing—including some fabulous desserts which isn’t always easy to find in Mexico. Every meal was delicious, we especially loved all the seafood! We enjoyed the poolside food and treats—fruit and ice cream carts came around daily. The service was the best we’ve had at an all inclusive. We especially loved our concierge Reyna would was attentive and available via WhatsApp. He even worked with our server Fernando at Himitsu on our last night to bring me a dessert I had enjoyed from another restaurant. Quiet pool concierge (Antonio??) even took my salty/sandy sun glasses and cleaned them for me after greeting us by the pool. The housekeeping and turn down service was great—they even had our room stocked with gluten free snacks in the minibar for my husband with celiac. On that note, they were amazing with his food restriction. Every person was knowledgeable and made us feel like it was NO problem. He had no reactions and was able to enjoy all of the delicious food. Other Notes: -We are not big partiers, while there were spaces to have fun and enjoy, this is not a resort for someone who loves a big party scene. So, this was perfect for us! We loved ending our day at the quiet pool which played spa music and was gorgeous. -Great toilet paper -We used private transfer from airport, it would be a long drive if you took a lot of stops -We did not take in the entertainment every night but there were nightly shows offered that looked fabulous. -A couple of the restaurants require a reservation but the concierge communicates that and will arrange them for you. -We WILL be coming back!
