Beautiful location. Property is in good condition as were the rooms. Food was ok at the buffets and good in the restaurants. It was difficult to book dinners at times we wanted to even though we tried to book the dinners for the week the day we arrived. If food matters to you, book your dinners right when you get there. The steakhouse was great!

Feb 05, 2026Large destination wedding for 80 people!
This trip from Jan 24-31st, 2026, was an absolutely outstanding experience. I was at the resort for a destination wedding (mine!), with a group of 80 friends and family ranging from young children to senior citizens. Everyone had an amazing time! The resort is MASSIVE - even experienced travellers in my group noted this. However, everything is walkable and made even easier by the extremely well run transport service (golf-cart type shuttles) that run every few minutes between hotel lobbies or to residence buildings. Walking was easy enough, with most amenities within 5-10 minutes at most (or less if we caught a ride, which was often). The food was incredible. So much variety, we regularly ate at the Poolside buffet at the Colonial. Service was prompt and courteous. The latés were EXCELLENT. The pools were wonderful , though two things to note; 1 - The White Sands pool was noticeably colder than the Colonial pool, but it was irrelevant about 5 seconds after getting in the water). 2 - The Colonial pool has a general depth of 5'3" (except where shallower). I'm 5'9" so it meant that if I wasn't actively swimming, moving around required a bit of hopping. The White Sands pool was around a foot more shallow, meaning I could comfortably walk the length of it - making it easier to toss a ball around with friends or just laze around. No complaints, both pools are great - just different experience. The food quality was truly excellent. My wife and I did not book a single a la carte restaurant, as we were content with the buffets. The ceviches were so good!! One of the biggest positives (amongst so many positives) is that with the resort being so big and there being multiple pools, it was never busy during our stay. There was no fighting to try and find a chair by the pool - poolside chairs were available throughout the day, so we didn't have to deal with people sniping them at the crack of dawn and camping out on them all day. The same was true of the buffets - occasionally there was a 1-2 minute wait as they identified a table, but more often we just walked in immediately. The wedding venue we chose was the Beach Gazebo, located at the south end of the beautiful beach and very close to the White Sands. It overlooked the beach but was isolated enough that we didn't have to deal with curious onlookers standing in the background. I'm running out of space, but this resort is beautiful, the food is amazing, and we had the trip of a lifetime. Highly recommend!

Would not recommend - in fact, we are leaving early. Cannot make meal reservations until you arrive and then upon arrival, we learned there are no reservations before 9pm (which doesn't work for us or kids). Rooms are ok but water not too hot and drains don't drain. Towels are old and have rust stains. Pool runs out of towels. Lots of upselling by staff.

Nice resort the lake is not kept up with so you have a porta potty smell while and before you eat which is not pleasant at all. Terrible at getting things brought to your room and had trouble with our keys to our room took about 5 minutes to get it open every time. Not a single bit of pool side entertainment which we were looking forward too, but nighttime entertainment was nice

It’s an all inclusive buffet at best. There is ZERO reservations to their restaurants, unless you want to eat at 9PM. Our room want dirty when we checked in and once we finally got into one of the restaurants at 9PM none of the salad bar items were available. I’ll show a picture of the “Caesar salad”. The only saving grace was they offer an option to upgrade. White sands is trash.
