A Breezy, Well‑Run Stay in Windy Wellington

Great location right in the heart of the city, with friendly staff and a very straightforward check‑in experience. It’s a standard business hotel, but the rooms are clean, modern, and quiet, which made for a comfortable stay. Breakfast was decent and did the job. The gym is the only real drawback - it’s on the smaller side and feels a bit cramped, with a low ceiling that makes standing overhead lifts tricky if you’re tall. Aside from that, it was a smooth and easy stay overall, and genuinely one of the better hotel options in Wellington.

    Fantastic Location, Brilliant Team

What a fantastic weekend getaway in Wellington. The IHG team at this property were all so welcoming, and I truly appreciate their genuine hospitality. The king premium room I was assigned was huge, and the view was amazing. As you would expect from all InterContinentals, my room was clean, well appointed and the sleep quality I received during my stay was 10/10! I had access to Club InterContinental during my stay, and the quality of food and service was outstanding. The location of the InterContinental Wellington is within easy walking distance of everything downtown.

As expected from large chain hotel. Excellent location

Everything you would expect from this large chain hotel. Comfortable room. Good breakfast. Friendly and efficient staff on reception and concierge. Reception on 2nd floor during building works - as we stayed at a weekend we were not disturbed. Hotel offered points or dining credit to all customers during the works which was appreciated. Excellent location for waterfront restaurants and reasonable walk to Te Papa Museum and funicular railway. Only slight moan is that we left the hotel about 10am leaving a "please clean the room" sign out and when we returned c 4pm it had not been done. We were apparently the last room to be cleaned on the floor before the cleaners went home and it was not convenient for us. We had to call reception to arrange an evening clean whilst we went out to supper.

    Prime location, accommodating service

Prime location being next to the Queens Wharf with many dining options, the cable car, and a ten-minute easy walk to the old government buildings and train station. The hotel lobby/reception was under renovation at the time and the reception was moved to a cramped temporary location on the second floor (when you exit the elevator, you are met with a throng of people), but the staff did their best to manage and offered points for the slight inconvenience. Our room included a bay window, which was nice to peer out at the city. Overall, a pleasant stay, I would stay here again due to the location and accommodating service, which I appreciated their extra effort despite the renovations.

    excellent stay-staff exceptional

The hotel is lovely and despite undergoing a renovation, the staff is doing everything they can to make your stay fabulous. Lucy and Kaitlin went out of their ways to ensure top notch service at an extraordinary level. Our wifi seemed slow and Lucy followed up asap and ensured it was fixed and we were taken care of. ! I left a shirt in the room and Kaitlyn had it located and her and Lucy arranged for it to be couriered to Blenheim so that i got it before i left NZ. The cooks at breakfast were also amazing. Rooms have been renoed and are lovely and comfy. Exceptional location and service.
