Great location. Decent service. Not worth the Hyatt experience

Overpriced for what it’s worth. No room service. Awful food (at the Swim restaurant) and old rooms. Location is great. Staff are good and deliver as expected (of management I guess). Other hotels in Waikiki, especially the Marriotts I have stayed in have way better service and experience.

    Great Experience Again

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki for the first time in November 2024 for 10 nights. We had such a wonderful time that we returned October 2025 with our son and his fiancé. The experience again was everything we hoped for. The property is in an amazing location close to the beach and the staff is warm and friendly. The Hyatt also offers wonderful cultural classes for their guests. All four of us attended the Ukulele and the Hula dance sessions which were fun and informative, so much so that we purchased a ukulele! We enjoyed our trip so much that we decided to extend our stay. The desk staff was extremely helpful and I want to give a special thanks to Mr. Nick Kodani who could not have been more accommodating. Mr. Kodani and James (unsure of last name) at the desk went above and beyond to take care of everything for us. Mr. Kodani clearly cultivates a culture of customer service that was apparent in all interactions we had with the front desk staff from general questions to assisting in prolonging our stay. I also have to take a moment to thank Dado at the pool. He certainly loves his job and enjoys taking care of the guests! We told him last year we were going to come back the next year and bring our family. When we went to the pool area, he immediately greeted us as old friends and welcomed us back. The entire stay, we felt like we at home away from home. Thank you! Susan E.

    October 2025 Stay

Great hotel with lots of amenities, and close to many shops and restaurants. Clean and spacious room (for Waikiki standards), loved the bidet. They provided a very nice tote bag, a couple of reusable water bottles which could be filled at several filling stations. We were on the the 33rd floor and you can still hear the activities from the street (music, sirens, etc). We rented a car from Turo and used the parking garage directly across from the hotel (yikes $65/night!). Overall, I felt very safe and satisfied with this property; I would go back!

    MOLD INFESTED ROOM

Mold infested room. Worst hotel experience I've ever had. I came to celebrate my sister's wedding and was put in a mold infested ocean view. I was so busy the first day and didn't notice the mold until the second night while laying in bed about to sleep. When I called to let the operator know they down played the mold and said they would send housekeeping to clean it up. I told them this isn't something you can clean up. It was clearly obvious the mold had been there for some time. If you look closely the mold was painted over to with paint that didn't even match the room. The mold was so bad it was coming through the second coat of paint. When housekeeping came they decided the room wasn't fit for me to stay in so they had me pack up and moved to a temporary disability room without a view. Mind you I'm not disabled. I paid $329 a night for the view and woke up to construction. Before moving rooms I was told they would get me in my third and final room early that morning but I wasn't moved until the evening. I was never notified when my room was ready. I went back and forth from stressful bridesmaids duties to the front desk a few times to ask if my room was ready. I had to pack my things twice in 3 days until I was finally moved in a room that fit what I paid for. My left eye was twitching the whole weekend bc of how stressed I was. After 2.5 days of being inconvenienced I was only rewarded a $200 credit. I was shocked I didn't get remembered for all the night I had an issue. When I contacted customer care after my stay they emailed me to say "You are absolutely right that this is not something that should ever have occurred, and I regret that it was not handled with the urgency and care you deserved from the very beginning. While I am glad to hear that our team attempted to make amends with a room credit, I recognize that this gesture did not match the seriousness of the inconveniences and discomfort you endured." After the email I felt as if something else was going to be done to compensate my horrible first 3 days but Nothing was done once more. I'm not 109% sure but I believe the room number was 909. I will never come back to stay here!

    Should have stayed with Hilton......

Booked through Costco Travel. Older hotel,(as many are there), with substantial updating. Second floor check-in. Be prepared to walk plenty, as restaurants, etc. are on 3rd floor and some distance from the tower we were in. Lots of shops in open air atrium. Could never count on hot water consistently. Showers would go cold without warning. They have some funky bolt-on bidet on the toilet that cuts the seat down by about 25%. It's got a fan built in to it. Worthless and uncomfortable for an average size person. Can't imagine being "oversize" and sitting on it. We paid for an ocean view room. What that delivers is being right on the street next to the beach, where there are street performers, cars racing, loud sport bikes, etc. until at least 2 am every night. It's so loud you have to turn the TV up way above normal just to hear it. Desks in room were old, finish peeling off. The water is chlorinated so heavily that it wreaks even when used for coffee. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere a block or two back from the beach where it's quiet and there's plenty of restaurants, shopping, etc. You can be at the beach in 5 minutes. BTW.... be prepared for plenty of tour solicitors and some homeless people on the sidewalks. Yes....they'll approach you while you're waiting to cross the street. Get used to it.
