  Always Satisfied!

  Like always. I've enjoyed myself the relaxing atmosphere. I've been going to this same resort for years and they always amazed me with new things and activities. I thank Mr. Rafael Briceno, Mr. Pedro Sinue, Aerin and staff for for treatment me like family. They ALWAYS make me feel home. I see how hard the waitresses and bartender works to please their customers. But I don't see the customers appreciating them by not tipping. So when visiting please look out for everyone because they deserve it. If we can tip in our country, we should tip them. I recommend everyone should try this resort. I promise you that you will love it!

  Great family vacation

  I was very skeptical of this hotel because of the negative reviews but was pleasantly surprised by our great experience. We traveled with kids under 5, and they had a blast. We were placed on the Sens side, which was lovely. The beach is beautiful and perfect for young kids as there are barely any waves. The pools were nice, and we loved the swim up bars. We enjoyed the food, we ate at the buffet as well as the included restaurants, and had great experiences at all. It is not hard to get a reservation if you download the app and request a reservation when it opens. Also, a lot of locals stay at this hotel so they have great Mexican food at the buffet. We also enjoyed the nightly entertainment. My kids loved the free ice cream and the free arcade. My biggest gripe would be the lines at the bars, but this to be expected. As for food lines, we never waited more than 10 mins for the buffet, which I thought was reasonable. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation and you align your expectations with the price, you will be happy at this resort.

  Awful. Be very careful with food poisoning

  Anyone giving a 10 out of 10 is lying. Well, honestly, we were really one of 5 families at the resort. So all the locals coming here from wherever had 1 billion children and maybe liked the nasty nasty food. The food is not edible. Maybe they didn’t expect clean accommodations or not have to pay for 1 million extra things after they got here. We also were Ugraded to the Sens but it no better and worse food. Please don’t get suckered into the timeshare. I mean the residences that they sell. Most staff does not speak English and was not helpful at all. We booked at the desk out by the pool and it was a scam a scam. Everyone saw the weather forecast, but they assured us our catamaran tour would go on as scheduled. It did not. Didn’t tell us until we stood in line and checked in on the dock. Then our choices were go for their alternative plan or not go, they didn’t seem to care but no refund. Please don’t fall for anything to do with these properties. So no email, no call,no catamaran, no beach day, no unlimited drinks and food for nine hours. We actually had that for about one hour and it was the poorest excuse for alcohol drinks I’ve ever seen. So after two rides, two taxis, two ferries, we finally made it back to the hotel. I was never so happy to see a crappy hotel in my life.

  CAUTION **Unwelcoming, poorly run hotel, staff tried to triple charge me to upgrade my room.

  This place is not worth leaving home for. The food is terrible , even by the lowest of standards. We definitely came here with extremely low expectations and were not anticipating anything special. Our vacation began with checking in after an extraordinarily long wait to transport from the airport to the hotel. Upon check in, we requested to pay for an upgrade to a family room as our travel agency had sold us a room that had insufficient space, of course we were willing to pay the additional cost. However, the check-in staff tried to give our family the shake down. Demanded $3500 US for a room upgrade. I specifically asked the staff member what that was for, she said an upgrade to a room that provided enough beds for my family. Upon reviewing the website, I discovered an entirely new reservation, on our dates, for the bigger room, without any existing reservation or payment of same was less than $3300 USD. When we declined this offer. The manager tried to get us to pay additional money to the tune of 450$ USD for another room that still had only one king bed for a family of 5, with teenager. Our family is currently at the resort. After an entire day of trying to figure this mess out repeatedly requesting a cot that was promised to us, I have now requested a blanket to make a bed for myself in the floor. It is 10:45PM and I am using my sweater to cover up on a chair so that my husband and children can rest using the sheets and pillows. This place doesn’t even provide adequate bedding. This is the worst treatment I have ever experienced and if this review saves one family from a nightmare experience, then it’s worth my time. This is an extremely low quality hotel. Pay extra, go somewhere nice. This place is run terribly. To add to this, the manager informed us that there are no family rooms remaining, yet I was able to book one online through the hotel website. Another supervisor advised me that there were no rooms available as well. Dishonest and not the vibe we usually get when travelling abroad. It seems that my family and I are not welcome at this hotel, or perhaps it’s just an unwelcoming establishment? It is our son’s 8th birthday and we are going to have to move hotels. Appalling treatment of my family, food that is barely edible. But nice beach area. Staff do not accommodate guests. Got to the ice cream machine at 6:05PM, we were firmly advised ice cream ends at 6. My kids left extremely disappointed. We do not recommend this hotel to anyone whatsoever. Avoid it if you can.

  You don’t get what you pay for. Do your homework and go somewhere else.

  I’m going to give a brutally honest review. This is a 3-star hotel at best. Check-In: The greeters at the front door are very nice and helpful. The Check-In process is ridiculously long and you won’t get your room until 3-4pm. When we asked to get our luggage, the security told us if we asked again, we wouldn’t get it for a week. We specifically asked to be in a room beside our friends, we were told to sign damage waivers for those rooms and then once our room keys were ready, we were told the hotel was completely full, no other rooms were available and we needed to be on separate floors. When we complained about signing the damage waivers for those room, we were told that they make you sign it for a random room and it wasn’t actually our assigned rooms. Finally when push came to shove, magically the hotel wasn’t full anymore and our initial room was magically available, too! A completely avoidable issue fabricated by the staff to stress out paying customers but why not I guess. The rooms: The rooms are average. Our bathroom door latch was broken but it wasn’t a big issue. The ceiling leaks water from the AC unit but having a sand bucket and a lot of dirty towels helps not flood the room as bad as the room across the hall. The shower floods the floor due to a poor open-concept design and despite leaving tips, we never had fresh towels, our fridge was never refilled with water bottles but the beds were made so it did save us the trouble of making the beds. The windows in the room are paper thin and each night they have a discount Shakira concert THAT GOES UNTIL MIDNIGHT. It’s directly beside the hotel and is so loud the bed shakes. If we didn’t bring ear plugs and a noise machine, we wouldn’t have been able to sleep at all. Restaurants: Don’t go to La Hacienda. We asked Ana for a table for 9 people we got a table for 6. After waiting awkwardly for another table, I finally moved another empty table over so my wife and kids could sit, too. We were then yelled at for moving a table by this lady in a blue dress and glasses. This is the same miserable woman who works at the Pizza & Pasta restaurant. She isn’t friendly and seems to not like her job, including claiming your clothes are wet to avoid seating you. Keep in mind the seats are plastic lawn furniture, outdoors, with no cushions. I highly recommend the Sens side. Go to Las Palmas buffet and ask for Gabriel, he is amazing (most of them are pretty nice) and I highly recommend you ask to be seated with him. The food is also great, tons of options and everything very tasty! Le Petit Chef was awesome. Highly recommended. The Beach: The beach is pretty awesome. The hammocks are sweet, there’s some fish and crabs to check out and the water is warmer than the pools. There is quite a bit of broken glass on the beach and over 7 days, my son and I cut our knees twice playing in the sand. We made a game out of finding “sea glass” and throwing it out. It’ll be in and out of the water so water shoes are recommended (mind you, we didn’t step on any glass). Speaking of us cleaning the beach, it has a lot a lot A LOT of kelp and other vegetation that makes it impossible to reach the water without walking through it. My son and I raked paths to the water for other guests to use and over 7 days, as the workers only sort of cleaned it twice the entire time. Watch your stuff! People steal off the beach. My son had a massive conch shell he found. I took my son to the washroom and when we returned, someone had stolen it from our chair. We were gone max 5 mins. The beach bar is awesome, drinks are tasty, and they have virgin pina coladas for the kids. The pool is a bit warmer than solid ice but it’s refreshing. The kids didn’t mind it too much but the consensus was it was way too cold. This is not a complaint, I get that this is normal, I’m just painting the picture. The kids Jurassic pool area was closed the entire time and the kids couldn’t enjoy it. Excursions: YOU WILL BE LIED TO REPEATEDLY!!! We booked a catamaran/snorkel trip for our kids. We were told it was so close to the hotel that a shuttle couldn’t be provided. We walked for 30 minutes in the blistering sun carrying all our stuff and ended up taking an Uber back, as it was a ridiculous distance. It gets worse…. Only after paying and arriving did the tour advise us that our kids wouldn’t be allowed to snorkel at all because they aren’t 8 years or older. We had to lie and say our 6 year old was actually 8 so that he didn’t miss out on the fun. There was no safety issue at all and it was clear this was just an arbitrary rule with no reasoning whatsoever. In the end, we paid double since my wife couldn’t do anything as she had to stay on the boat with our daughter (because my daughter was visibly under 8). HERE’S ANOTHER LIE!!!! We then booked the swimming with the dolphins excursion. Having already been lied to, we made the guy call and confirm with the tour that our son could do it. Yup, no issues, “I can be trusted”………. Once we got there, the tour immediately said our son wasn’t allowed to do the tour at all because he wasn’t 48” tall (he is 47” tall). Fortunately, my wife had enough of the bs at this point and told my son “Ear Muffs” and told the staff to give her money back and to bring her back to the hotel (words to that effect). Again, only after push came to shove did ethics prevail and again, magically, now he’s perfectly fine to do the tour. If only the excursion staff were educated on what they were selling, it could avoid all the headaches. The Resort: We weren’t too impressed with their advertised 4 star hotel but the kids absolutely loved it so in all, the vacation was a success. Minimal security at the front doors, you or anyone can easily come and go without seeing anyone at all. Are you staying at the 5 star grand Oasis Sens? The Grand Oasis Cancun? The Grand Oasis Palm Cancun? There’s a reason for the confusion because the quality is different at each hotel. The entire resort, rooms, restaurants etc reek of human feces. It gets quite unbearable at times, especially when the toilets overflow in the buffet (happens quite a bit). If you don’t shower or use your sink in the room, the smell does improve. The bathrooms consistently overflow and drains throughout the resort are backed up. The foot washing stations never work and there is barely any upkeep at all. Careful getting your hair braided or buying stuff off people at the beach. The police/military patrol the beach on quads and you will see them everyday, all the time. We watched a little girl get surrounded by them because she was getting her hair braided. Not sure what happens to the kid but I imagine regardless, it’s traumatic to be surrounded my police and military carrying automatic weapons with their faces covered in balaclavas. Everything is overpriced and I mean OVERPRICED! For instance, don’t get a craving for a snack because despite a bag of Doritos being $2 USD at the grocery stores in town, they’re $12 USD at the gift shop at the hotel. The Coffee & Me is sporadic with opening hours. If it opens at 6:30, you’re lucky to get a coffee by 7:30 because the staff will do anything to avoid letting you know what’s going on, why the doors are locked. Even a post-it would be a significant improvement in communication. With that said, good luck finding a bathroom! Ice Cream: This was a biggie with the kids. Their arbitrary rule is ice cream is served until 6pm and then, at dinner time, they no longer serve any treats for kids. Nothing anywhere after 6pm. Also, the marshmallows and M&Ms on the ice cream containers are JUST FOR SHOW and they will throw them out instead of putting them on the ice cream itself. Just another very cheap, penny-pinching rule. The shows: The indoor entertainment shows are awesome and very entertaining! They start at 9pm, so our family only went to one, but our friends said they were quite impressive! All in all, we wouldn’t go back but it wasn’t as bad as Cuba.
