First time at Azul
Beach was great. Food was ok. Not the best as other resorts in Jamaica. Nite entertainment was not much. Room was ok. Ran out of water for a few hrs on our third day. I would give the resort 3 star. Don’t know why it’s rated as a 5 star. I went to this resort for the beach. And it did not disappoint. 7mile beach was fantastic. And that’s it. 3 stars for sure.

Disappointing vacation with friends
Disappointing vacation with friends I would have been fine with this resort even though it has its issues but they refused to honor the resort credits on our way out that we had eared as part of a Black Friday booking promotion. They basically hid in the back room for hours to try and wait us out and wouldn't let us leave until we paid for everything that was covered by the resort fees. We booked as part of a promotion and were also Karisma members. They refused to honor any of it and held us hostage til we hit the time where we absolutely needed to leave to be able to make our flight. We got there 30 minutes earlier than planned and were left waiting there for over 90 minutes. We will not be returning because of that, the unavailability of beer and liquor daily, the quality of the food (make sure you eat off site) and the horrible customer service experience at check out. Bartenders were great but were given a poor hand due to mgmt decisions. The "Customer Service" team said they would work on it and call when they figured it out, they never did and now I am left with the bill and the bad taste in my mouth from this experience. They were disrespectful and still have not returned my calls nearly 2 months later. Would not recommend. Rooms 3.0 Rooms are old, need updates. No insulation so hear everything Location 4.0 Great beach, great food nearby. Nearby activities: Diving with Stanley's team onsite was great. Highlight of our trip alongside Rick's. Food nearby that is good, definitely spend a day a Ricks Cafe Cabana. Get a lobster from Snoop next door! Safety seemed fine other than the state of disrepair in some areas that caused issues for some others that we saw Food & drinks: Poor and core staples of vacation relaxation and drinks constantly out of stock. How do you run out of coconut rum for 3 days straight? Beer at bars would run out every day. Better off staying elsewhere. Would go back to Negril Jamaica but will not be staying here. They are not a customer service friendly resort when help is required and do not follow through on promises.

No frills paradise.
I’ve read a lot of negative reviews on here so I wanted to give my honest opinion. I’m a middle aged mail who has travelled to quite a few all inclusives in Mexico, Cuba, and Dominican. This was my first trip to Jamaica and I was a bit nervous prior to visiting Azul due to the mixed reviews. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I can’t understand the negative reviews. The only thing I can think of is if people are expecting a luxury resort like Sandals, this resort is much more no frills than a Sandals but the price reflects that fact. To start with check in was smooth and pleasant. We took a private transfer from the airport and were the only ones checking in at the time. They offered us a free upgrade to a deluxe swim out room from our previously booked deluxe oceanview room. I originally didn’t want a swim out room at time of booking due to price difference but I was pleasantly surprised on how much we enjoyed this upgrade. Room We were swimout suite in building 3. I believe it’s one of the older buildings but I would want to book it again when we return. The room was slightly dated but very clean. The bed and pillows were prob the most comfortable of any resort I’ve been to. The fridge was well stocked, a/c worked great, and towels replaced whenever we needed them to be. The maid service was top notch. As for location we thoroughly enjoyed the swimout deck area. We had stairs into the water, could float to swim up bar or sit and relax on our daybeds. There were lots of palm trees for shade and we enjoyed the music that was played from around 9/10am to 5pm around the pool. We we located close to lobby, coffee shop, 2 of 3 alacartes and palms breakfast buffet that was only open the first week. Staff Here is where I can’t understand any negative reviews. Not only was the staff pleasant to us, they helped make the trip one of the most relaxing and enjoyable we’ve ever had. We received several calls to our room to see how our trip was going and if we needed anything. Paula at the coffee shop was one of the sweetest ladies we’ve met and always had a smile when we visited for a morning coffee or evening ice cream. The buffet hostess at breakfast remembered our names every day and always had a big smile. The lifeguards on the beach were always really friendly and would help if anyone needed a chair or anything else. The bartenders were all friendly as well. Front desk were all very friendly at check in and check out as well. We saw some rude guests that were very demanding on the staff and wanted to be treated like kings and queens, perhaps they might not have been given as pleasant of a response to rudeness. A little respect and kindness goes a long ways. Not staff but they deserve a mention, the beach vendors were kind and respectful. Once you said no thanks they would wish you a pleasant day and move on. I found them way less pushy than Mexico and st the end of the day, they are just trying to make a living. Beach The beach was beautiful with warm water, soft sand, and calm waves. If there was one improvement I would suggest it’s making the guests use towel cards. In an ideal world it’s nice not to have towel cards but unfortunately human nature reared its ugly head. People were leaving towels everywhere so you couldn’t tell if chairs were taken or not. Also people would literally reserve their chairs as they left in the afternoon for the next day. The first week we were there this was worse do to more people and everyone being greedy. We always found a spot though and I never woke up early to play that game. The second week there were a fair bit more available. The lifeguards would also reserve chairs for people to make a buck which I didn’t have a problem with but it all could be more organized and with a few extra chairs it would be great. Food Overall I would say the food was good but not fancy and not the options a large resort like a Riu may have. We really enjoyed the freshly carved roast at the buffets and the fried chicken was some of the best I’ve had. There is a jerk hut near the lobby pool, 3 alacartes and main buffet. You won’t find fancy lobster and steak etc but good quality food.. Overall The only reason I don’t give this resort a 5 is because it’s not a high end 5 star. It’s more of a relaxed no frills 4 star. I actually prefer this style of vacation where it’s not snobby and more friendly. There is some maintenance that could be done and is being done on some of the boardwalks, paint on buildings etc. Ground maintenance, pool maintenance, and cleanliness were all great. We hope to visit again and can’t say enough about the lovely Jamaican people.

We had a great time !
As an experienced traveller who has been to many tropical destinations, Jamaica is now one of our favorites. First let me say no, this resort is not a 5 star. I would give it 4. reading some of these reviews I just can’t fathom how we could have such a different experience than so many others. From the time we checked in we were immediately offered a free upgrade to a swim up room which was amazing. Not only was it spacious, our maid service was very clean and meticulous. We found the service to be exceptional, all the staff was so friendly and accommodating. We always found something delicious to eat and while there wasn’t a huge amount of different things offered at the buffet, there was more than enough to satisfy everyone. There is definitely a towel, beach chair shortage however - this is NOT a resort problem. This is a PEOPLE problem. What we witnessed was insane. People would grab four and 5 towels to reserve a few chairs at the beach, also a daybed, and have one just for drying off. Then they would leave their towels on these places soaking wet for the staff to grab and try to wash and dry and the end of the night. It would be easily rectified with towel cards- maybe something the resort could Consider. As far as it being dated, yes it could use some work. But in saying this people need to remember that COVID killed these resorts. When you can’t open for two years you lose a lot of money and the operating costs are a lot. Also, they were hit by a huge hurricane last year which damaged a lot of the resort. Talking with staff is a simple eye opener on how hard the economy was hit. This isn’t America, the UK or Canada where buisness can be turned around quickly. I also witnessed people who are very rude to staff and expect top notch service while speaking down to the staff. Treat people as you would want to be treated and your kindness goes a LONG way. Cleansiness was never an issue for us - and reading comments that people found the resort to be unclean again is a people problem. Stop leaving your glasses and plates everywhere - if you are passing by a swim up bar ( in which there are several ) drop your glass off on the way. Our experience was great and I have nothing but praise for this resort and we will be back for sure. We enjoyed the culture, the staff were amazing, the beach was awesome and the overall experience was a stand out for us.

Not Worth the Stress – Gorgeous Beach, Rude Staff
Azul Beach Resort in Negril has a lot of potential, but our stay was a bit of a mixed bag. On the positive side, the resort grounds were clean and well-maintained. The beach itself was absolutely stunning—probably one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever seen. The drinks were consistently good, and we appreciated the Netflix on the in-room TVs for rainy nights. The hot tub by the main pool was also a great spot to relax during the frequent afternoon rain showers. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. About 80% of the staff we encountered were rude or indifferent. One morning, a waitress actually rolled her eyes and sighed when I asked for coffee with breakfast. That kind of attitude definitely put a damper on the experience. The dining situation wasn’t ideal either. Not all restaurants were open as advertised. The Palms, which was supposed to serve breakfast daily, only did so for two days. The alternate buffet was a long walk from our room—not great for anyone with mobility issues (room service would be the only option in that case). The food overall was just okay. We also had issues with security. Medication left on the nightstand went missing, and we returned one day to find our safe open with $100 USD missing. We reported it, but unfortunately nothing came of it. From that point on, we carried all valuables with us. On a brighter note, the beach vendors were pleasant and low-key—shout out to Farmer Joe! And a special thank you to lifeguard Damien, who was super friendly and made our days by the water more enjoyable. This resort has a lot of good features, but between the poor service and security concerns, I’m not sure I’d return. With some improvements, it could be a fantastic place.
