    Not worth the $

To start, we don’t consider ourselves too picky of travellers and were hoping that the bad reviews were a bit over dramatic… sadly we were wrong. The communication at this resort, especially regarding food, was super upsetting. Our whole trip there, the buffet wasn’t open for dinner, so you really only had 3 options for dinner. That normally would be “ok”, except for the fact that the menus never change and that you only have a choice between Italian, steak grill??, and Oceania (seafood). The steak grill was awful, and they try to upsell you to buy steak that’s over $100 USD each. Never in my life have I been to an all inclusive where upselling was a thing. Additonally, we don’t like seafood, so we literally had to eat at the Italian restaurant every single night. I felt extremely bad for people who had kids, as the menus didn’t offer them a lot. There were many days and nights that the service was very slow, not the workers fault that Hyatt understaffs the resort, and will not accommodate appropriately for the amount of guests they have staying. Majority of the staff are extremely nice, with a few exceptions at the bar. In fairness, the bartenders are extremely short staffed and have groups of people lined up pretty frequently; I understand that it is probably very overwhelming and not everyone treats them with kindness and patience. Again, another poor choice by Hyatt that impacts their guests. The rooms were nice and clean, with exceptions of the bathroom. A lot of repairs need to be made and it feels very dungy. You can see mold forming on the ceiling as well. No biggie, we survived, but I get grossed out by that stuff easily. We found that some of the tours we booked through the resort were subpar to ones that we found online from reputable companies. There’s really only one big pool and it’s hard to find seating. I think this was the first vacation where I often felt bored. Overall, it is a beautiful island and have stayed at Sunscape a long time ago, so I had high expectations and was extremely disappointed with our stay. I felt like for the money we spent (over $1800 each CAD), and it normally being over $2500 each CAD) this was NOT worth the money at all and will not be back, even with the “good deal” we got it for. We left feeling very ripped off.

    Disappointing - Dreams Curacao

There were some bright spots. Ziad in the preferred lounge was outstanding. He did his best to see to the ongoing A/C issue in our suite. In fact all of the staff in the preferred lounge excelled. Also, the setting, beach and pool all exceeded our expectations. However, the benefits of preferred status escaped us. Other than “top-shelf” liquor we failed to see any real tangible benefit to the upcharge we paid for this status. My wife and I are not big drinkers so this part of the benefit was negligible. The ongoing and inexplicable issue with one of the elevators was mind boggling. Cutting the lifting capacaity in half for several days created prolonged waiting times and crowding issues. The biggest disappointments were in the general housekeeping, drink service, food service, food itself (including variety and options). I spent my working life in high-end hospitality so I know what I am talking about. My wife and I travel 4-5 times per year and honestly this is the first resort that failed to even come close to meeting our expectations. Within the past year we have been on three other tropical trips (Costa Rica, Aruba, St.Martin) and all of these all-inclusives met or exceeded our expectations on all fronts. I wrote reviews favorably on those properties for our travel agent but will not be doing so for this trip. In fact, I would be hard pressed to offer many positives to friends, colleagues or fellow travellers. Once upon a time, I would have been more tolerant and forgiving but the other destinations I mentioned found ways to deal with staffing and product shortages that related to the recent Covid pandemic. We are far enough removed from that to expect businesses to find solutions. In general, you have a beautiful property in dire need of a “facelift” and some serious revamping of dining facilities and server numbers and training.

Nice pool, decent small beach, mediocre food

Our room was clean and spacious. The initial welcome by the staff was welcomed and informative. The app for Dreams has the wrong opening times for restaurants and one of the restaurants had the wrong menu. Food is passable - nothing to write home about but you won't starve either. Even my 12 year old said the food "worked." Service was super slow on the weekend but once Monday hit the service was great. The pool(s) are fantastic and the staff very friendly. The beach was a bit rocky but with water shoes on, no problem.

A decent stay for sure, but not a luxurious stay.

The resort is small yet beautiful. The beach is nice, yet can get crowded easily. They advertise many restaurants, but there are only 3, with maybe 3 dinner choices each. There is no buffet for dinner. The food is limited, top shelf spirits are only available to Preferred Club members, which isn't what was advertised. After 10pm, the resort is a no mans land. No entertainment, nothing opened, no bars, no food nothing. Room service was cool but they never bought our food the last day. Our room was hot and the other room did not have hot water. We were promised a fruit tray but never received that either. Curacao is beautiful and I will be back, but I don't know about this resort, per say. Oh yeah, and all the food places are outside so prepare to compete with birds for your food and to have the birds in and around your food.

    Island Paradise

We were so excited to go to Dreams Curacao and it did not disappoint. The trip was wonderful from beginning to end. Our experience was a very happy and fulfilling one with great food, kind and generous people, and exceptional opportunities for lounging and entertainment.
