Excellent in every aspect
One thing I Would like to share given that this is my second trip to Paradisus La Perla in Playa del Carmen is the excellent service at “The reserve” beach with the fabulous bartender Rosario Poot…she’s always very kind, funny and she offers the service!!!

Great vacation spot
Our family of 18 recently stayed at the Paradisus resort in Riviera Maya and could not have asked for a better vacation. The resort is spotless and the people were so friendly. We were celebrating a special birthday and the resort went above and beyond to make it a memorable vacation. The waterpark was a great bonus for the grandkids activities. We look forward to visiting this resort in the near future.

Paradisus All Inclusive at Playa De Carmen
fantastic water park - nice beach with access to water activities like kayaking and boat ride - beautiful property - good-sized rooms and bathrooms with great housekeeping - Coffee shop with high quality coffee and snacks - main buffet was small and not much choice of food - quality of buffet was average - enjoyed most dinner restaurant food - some resort employees were not hospitable and seemed irritated when approached for basic needs - making restaurant reservations was tough and seemed to be intentionally difficult, to push guests to use Family Concierge - overall good resort but may not choose to return given poor service received from some employees, and general temperament to make non-family-concierge guests feel less valued - For a 5 star resort and having paid a premium price as compared to other comparable resorts in the area (even without Family Concierge), the value didn't seem to be great

Amazing stay
This hotel exceeded all our expectations. We’re a family of 3 with a 6 yo daughter. We stayed in a family concierge JR suite. Our concierge was Adrian and he was amazing, helped us with all our dinner reservations, sent daily reminders about activities and answered all our questions. He was also super attentive and left surprises in the room for our daughter. The food at the resort was also amazing, we looked forward to dinner every night. Staff is very kind and attentive, they all work so hard to make the guest experience great. Another highlight of the stay was bartender Ivan, he made incredible drinks. The beach at Paradisus is great, white sand, no waves and just a few rocks. Great place to stay for families with small children. Our daughter loved their kids club and looked forward to their activities daily.

Good and Bad
I’ve stayed at resorts all over the world with family and friends and feel this property has some major advantages and disadvantages compared to similar all-inclusive resorts. I’ll start with the positive. The resort is immaculate with beautiful landscaping, clean pools, and wonderful staff always available to assist. There is very little standing around waiting or feeling like you are at a “cheap resort.” The clientele is well-mannered and there is a sense of happiness as you roam the entire complex. The rooms are large (we had a family swim-up suite) with ample room to each have our own bed (2 doubles, a sofa sleeper, and a rollaway). The room service was wonderful and they came at given times (usually 45 minutes) daily. The variety of restaurants was sufficient (family and adult only options) and all food was enjoyable. Checkin and checkout was smooth. Air conditioning was good in all areas. My kids (ages 7 and 10) loved the resort waterpark and the ability to get unlimited smoothies and lollipops. Minus one or two individuals, the staff was the high point of this resort. On the negative side was the broken promise that is the “family concierge.” This is the first time I’ve ever paid to have one and will probably be the last. I don’t need anything during my stay that would necessitate one to begin with, but it sounded nice and included the swim-out room so I figured “why not?”. First I’m not even sure if I got an actual concierge due to the fact that no one was available at checkin. I was told to explore or grab lunch and come back. After explaining we weren’t hungry and would prefer to get to our room the gentleman said “I’ll be your concierge” and sat us back down to explain the perks of the family concierge. If I could put a price tag on those benefits I’d pay no more than $50/day as most are useless. The only true benefit we experienced was the lunch box restaurant which is exclusive to members, the cenote experience, and the options included at steakhouse. The one thing I looked forward to the most about the concierge was not having to deal with fighting to secure a dinner reservation as I have at so many resorts around the world in the past. Guess the joke was on me, because this resort was no better, maybe worse. First night no options except buffet. The buffet was not good, maybe one of the worst I’ve seen in Mexico. All other nights, one option at one time. I was told they are running close to capacity so not many options. I walked past all of the restaurants every night and almost all had tables open for hours with the exception of Sal the steakhouse. This is a normal expectation at cheaper resorts in Mexico and DR, but a complete disappointment at a resort charging over $900/night. I tried almost daily to use WhatsApp to coordinate changes with concierge, but was repeatedly told no options. I was told my concerns were forwarded to management, but I was never contacted. My second issue was with the kids club “kidom.” Once again, I expected ease of use and was met with constant challenges. The staff seemed overwhelmed and told me multiple times they expect to be at capacity or have limits at certain times. They have all sorts of time constraints (break times, when to drop off before certain events, pickup earlier than posted close times, etc). If you have a reservation at adults only restaurant you are screwed if it’s full. Again, no big deal at a 3 star resort, but this place claims 5! Lastly, both myself and my wife caught a stomach bug during our stay. We think it may have been the octopus since we both had same meal, but who knows. We each spent a day and a half in bed and/or in bathroom. Minus the sickness, concierge issues, and kids club it’s a nice place. Is it worth $900/night, NO!! If I ever return I’ll save a few hundred and go with a standard room. At least I won’t feel I’m paying someone $300/day to tell me sorry, can’t help you. Happy Traveling!!
