Avoid this property in Punta Cana
Our recent experience at Bahia Principe Grand was poor. The resort villas in the Grand section (we were in #30) were rundown and did not have working tv, sliding door locks or safes. The food and drinks were awful and the service was terrible.

Not very happy!
30 of us went for a wedding! The bride and groom didn't get there in room breakfast that was supposed to be part of the wedding package and by the time they found out it wasn't coming, the restaurants were closed and they wouldn't get them anything to eat! But on a more personal level, the rooms were dirty. I stepped in some water on my bedroom floor and then the bath mat to dry my foot and the towel turned black with dirt! I had to move the bed to get something that I had dropped and I really wished I hadn't seen under there as it was disgusting. My hair dryer and iron were both broken an it took 3 days to get new ones. The mosquitos were so bad! I have never been bothered by then before but I was eaten alive at this resort! I'm sure if they chose to they could spray for them to at least keep them down a bit! The beach was so busy you could barely get through the people to go for a walk! I understand they only have so much beach but I went for a beach holiday like everyone else and unless you get up at 6 am and save the chairs, you aren't sitting on the beach. The staff were not friendly or helpful (accept a few)

Very nice!
Great resort! It's huge! Nice atmosphere. Very friendly. Rooms are okay. The food is good. Lots of alcohol! The beach is nice if you can find room, packed in like sardines. The pools are nice. A great experience as it was my first time going here.

Mozzie Fest along with an ageing resort.
Where to start.... we were in the resort 30th Dec 2024 - 12th Jan 2025. Room - we travelled as a small family with our son of 19 months. Checked in 17.20, headed to the room ... Room - tatty, worn, dirty with dust, cobwebs and mozzies galore. No cot in the room chased multiple times after a long haul flight from UK - had no choice but to put baby between us for the night @ 19.00... cot eventually arrived 22.30 mid sleep. Lobby - Mozzie fest, you went here to be eaten alive as you headed to the buffets. Only the brave would attempt the coffee machines where there seemed to be a high concentrate of mozzies swarming about to buffet on your legs. Restaurants / Food - Good food and well catered for all, no complaints here. Heavy wear in tear in some of the older restaurants. Pools - Dirty especially the shallow pools, many are an accident waiting to happen. PVC Drainage around pools are not of a suitable fitment, they become loose and become a tripping hazard or even worse a broken leg waiting to happen for a small kid. After a week on site, my girlfriend and baby was riddled in mozzie bites all over. My partner was so bad with blisters galore, headed to the on site doctor to be told she needed to go to hospital ASAP. Turned out she got a blood infection from scratching the blisters and jumping in and out the pools - 2 nights in hospital, thank god for insurance! During this time, I complaint about the room as I could not control the mozzies through the night where they would eat away at our baby. Guest services moved me and my son straight away, the new room was better however still mozzies. No cot - when did it come..... 24 hours later after. I complained to guest services. Another restless night worrying about my son on the bed. My GF returned back to the resort, only to spot our son's mozzies bites were intensified. Another trip to the doctors, where yet again they advised the hospital to see a paediatric doctor double check. Thankfully, anti histamines and cream is all he required. Day after the family returned from hospital a letter from guest services asking for us to attend their desk. With much reclitniuce given its another hot zone for mozzies, we headed over. They wanted to know why we were at hospital, we explained. They agreed to spare our room daily, however they did this before the cleanser came in which defeated the purpose given they came in via the open door. Next day (10th Jan ) I seen a drop in mozzies around the coffee machines, there was deep cleaning going on also... unsure if this was related however there was a difference. Worth noting at this point there was no mozzie control whatsoever before this point. Then again, they prob seen trip advisor was on fire with complaints! All in all, this was a disaster of a holiday - disappointed TUI would have such an ageing resort within there portfolio. I have been to DR twice before with no problem what so ever with mozzies. Would I return to this resort again, no - not even if I was paid too.

Alright but..(full review)
Okay so my mom and I went last year in August but I forgot to write a review till now lol. We decided to go to Bahia principe Punta Cana because a couple years ago we went to Mexico using Punta Cana and we loved it. ARRIVALL: We arrived around 4 and we waited for around 20-35 mins. It was really hot but the lobby had water and juice and staff was handing out drinks. Staff at check in were pretty nice. However there was a slight language barrier with most of the staff since we don't speak Spanish. ROOM: Like many have said, the room was pretty old and outdated. TV was alright but again all the channels were in Spanish. Bed was actually pretty comfortable. Bathroom was the nicest part of the room for me because of the nice shower/bathtub. However the soap and shampooing was empty and we had to ask room service multiple times to refill it and eventually had to call the front desk to get it refilled. The fridge was also good, nice drinks selections. There was a couch and it was pretty comfy too. The balcony wasn't the best though. Had 2 pretty cheep looking palastic chairs and a table. We just used it to dry our swimwear. ROOM SERVICE: Most of the staff and room service were very sweet! Always saying hello and they were very appreciative of the tips. They restocked the drinks with us telling them, made the beds really good and replaced towels when asked. Did their jobs pretty well. Only bad thing was the soap as I have mentioned before. FOOD: Food was alright. Some good things and some bad things. My favorite part was the desserts. Cakes were really soft and sweet. And the buffet was beautiful. There was food options at the beach too however we didn't try the food there. BEACH: Beach was nice, we went there twice. Pretty fun as they were a volleyball game, guys walking around selling merchandise and people with parrots. POOL: Pool was great. Probably my favorite part! Most of the time the music wasn't great but when the music was good, it was amazing. There's also a bar in the middle of the pool which was perfect. Pool was sometimes dirty though. ENTERTAINMENT: The entertainment was amazing! Each night was something different. The lights, dancing, ect was perfect. Some upbeat performces and some emotional ones. Most of the time the entertainment was in the theater but on some nights it was in the open area near the lobby where it was a band or singer or acrobatics. Some nights, people were dancing with the performers. There's was also a circus night. MOSQUITOS: Mosquitos were everywhere!!! Just like a lot of people said, they were in the room, the buffet, the pool, lobby just everywhere! We left with hundreds of bites. This resort is MASSIVE! we got lost the first 2 nights. Overall, it was alright, but we won't be coming back. We will definitely go to Mexico next time.
