Disappointing and heart breaking.
There are no words. We just arrived. We usually go to Moon Palace or Secrets but have a grandson now and we golf so choose Bahia Principe Akumal LUXURY. Take the Luxury out of it. To my understanding things were upgraded. I’m in a 1970, s room and what has really upset me is the A La Cartes already full to capacity. I just arrived so how????? Never have we experienced this. We are not a buffet family and telling me a vacation I paid good money for I have to eat in a buffet. Drinks lacking. It’s a 3 star if that and I could cry as waited so long to come with our kids who haven’t had a vacation for two years. I’m starting to rethink vacations as prices going up for these all inclusives but the food and quality gone down hill. Rethinking air Banana as this is going to be a disheartening week. I look after people for a living a one week is all I ask . Bahia not it.

Amazing resort
This resort is amazing. Everything is so clean and well taken care of. The food is excellent better than any resort I’ve ever been to. The buffets as well as the à la carts. The pools are very well-maintained and so much fun with the entertainment team. The beach is so beautiful. The bars are everywhere and they make wonderful drinks with many options. Each staff member goes above and beyond to make your stay absolutely perfect. If there’s a problem, they get right on it. My sister who is with us has mobility issues and they accommodated her so many times. Do not hesitate in coming to this resort you will not be sorry.

Second time around.
Very nice, our second time going there in two years. The rooms are looking tired but are getting retrofitted. The restaurant booking needs an overhaul terrible trying to make reservations. We stayed in Akumal and checked out all of the pools and bars but stayed at the adult pool mostly. Steakhouse was the best and Japanese very good. Shuttles were there when we needed them. Very clean, beaches were nice but you need water shoes to go into the ocean very rocky. Overall we enjoyed it and would recommend the resort.

A lot to do but it’s not for us
We went there for a wedding. Not knowing that all the à la carte restaurants were full. Because people booked them 10 days prior. Very frustrating for first time clients. Being stuck to buffet all the time, not the best. But we met LIZETH at the guest service and she was able to find us some restaurants but only a table for 2. So we couldn’t eat with my family ( sister and nephews). Lizeth really saved us. She was a great asset. Thank you dear friend. This is a big resort with a lot to do. They have little shuttles going everywhere. Very efficient. We used them every day. In the Coba lobby bar, we met NOEMI , the best worker and waitress. Their Aperol Spritz are wonderful. Noemi knew our name and even though she was so busy, she always took the time to say hi. We met Rosi and Javier for breakfast at the Katok. Not so busy place. They can make good omelets there. At the Tulum buffet, Edwin took care of us. Very nice gentleman. Luis took care of us at the Mashua restaurant. Alida was our maid. Everything was clean. The beds were somehow hard. One of the most disappointing facts of this big complex is the clientele, not the workers . On the adults only pool, someone would expect quietness. No, loud adults, not respecting others. It was not our type of crowd. The Wifi didn’t work well . It was very frustrating trying to communicate with each other. I use the Spa for my hair, $100 US and the appointment lasted 30 minutes. A little expensive. We were glad to experience such a big place and we know now that we don’t fit in. It’s not for us.

Broken Al-A-Carte booking program
I will start by saying i have been to this resort every year for over 20 years (except COVID) and in fact go twice a year (heading back Friday). i love this resort and have left MANY good reviews of it but being fair their Al-a-carte booking program is broke!! i book my Al-a-carte's 10 days in advance and i have only been able to get Gran Tortuga once out of the last 6 times i have traveled there. I booked two weeks ago for this trip and was LUCKY to get a few reservations as all the hours were booked for virtually every place. what makes the matter worse is last October we went to some of the Al-a-carte locations to see if we could maybe be a walk up and was told no even though they were only half full.. The locations we did book but now showed full was only half full. we NEVER had this problem in the past it only in the last couple of years or so... GBPA please fix this. from a long time fan of your resort.
