    12th Visit at VIM

This is a tardy review but I felt I would write one after our last visit in April 2024. It was our 12th stay at VIM. The property is still very well maintained, lush grounds and gardens, and beautiful landscape. We welcomed the addition of Cafe Sisal: great gelato and tasty coffee, no to mention the great service (the waiter is so fun to interact with). The bars are spread out and you can get top-shelf drinks anywhere in the resort. Also, the bars cater to different tastes from of sports bar to quiet, classy seating. The variety of restaurants/cuisines offer a plethora of menus ... and of course the first come "first in" is great: no silly reservations. This comes sometimes with a wait time ... who cares, you are on vacation. It's worth mentioning the entertainment. It starts early in the evening and ends late at night. It satisfies all generations and preferences. Live music goes from jazz, light blues, etc. in the evening to a live band (Imperial Band) with good music/singers. You can dance and enjoy yourselves (it's an adult-only resort after all). There are things we have noticed in our last two/three visits that struck us that I would like to comment on: 1 - Personnel. We were accustomed to a VERY HAPPY staff and we haven't seen that. It was obvious that many were dissatisfied and unhappy. We could feel the stress. We had side conversations with some of the personnel who have tenure and have known from years. They confirmed that the atmosphere is different. They also confirmed that many have left due to a toxic environment. So sad!!! Please know that we choose VIM because of the great service provided by staff and we pretty much value that. 2 - We experienced elevator issues two years in the row. There was no elevator for the entire stay and we were on the third floor. When we asked, we were told it's being fixed, we ordered the parts, etc. Nothing has happened. We had never experienced such a thing at VIM, ever!!! To add insult ti injury, two people in our party had mobility issues. UNACCEPTABLE! 3 - Restaurants menu. It would be great to change the menu of the restaurants. Almost all have the same offerings for the last 12/13 years. Also, the lunch buffet at the Marche is not as "furnished" as before (breakfast is still great). There were themes in the past and we were looking forward for the daily change: Mediterranean, Mexican, Asian, etc. We "advertised" this resort and many of friends and coworkers booked and visited. Having said that, we will give it another try next winter. We will be visiting with three couples and frankly we will assess again and make a decision regarding future visits. Please note that this review is meant to be constructive and hopefully helpful for the VIM leadership team.

    Valentine is wonderful!!

Valentine is a fantastic resort! Even though the weather wasn’t ideal, the activities team stayed on schedule and encouraged everyone to join in, which I really appreciated. The restaurants were well-staffed and offered a variety of unique dishes. Don’t miss the churro cart for a delicious treat! The staff was warm, kind, and accommodating throughout our stay.

    Best Place to vacation!

Everything was amazing, better than expected. 10/10 for food, entertainment, spa and staff. Everyone was kind and welcoming. If you are going to visit this is definitely the place to go. The swimming pool is absolutely incredible. Access to the beach is perfect and just tons of things to do. Also, the experience of the different wildlife you hear and see, is incredible. This really is an amazing place to experience in person. Defiantly would go again.

Great for a chill and relaxed honeymoon!

My and my wife went here for our honeymoon and had a great stay. The concierge was friendly and easy to work with, the room was clean and nice (there was an issue with the sliding door being hard to lock but housekeeping noticed and booked maintenance for us). We also had our safe battery die and maintenance came at a convenient time for us and fixed it. The food everywhere was delicious, this was important to us and a highlight of the trip. The ability to have food delivered to the poolside chairs from the food trucks was especially nice. Don't skip the buffet either, lovely selection including some Mexican specialties like chilaquiles and sopas. The Cafe Sisal was also a great spot, being able to get delicious hot or iced coffees and other beverages and snacks throughout the day was very nice. Coffee often feels like an after thought at resorts and hotels, but not here. The staff were friendly and provided great service, shoutouts to Miguel and Carlos by the pool area, they were fantastic! Room service takes about 45 minutes but they let you know that. Also a second shoutout for our building's concierge Erendi who provided helped us reserve the habachi experience and provided a great book recommendation for my wife! The winding paths through the jungle took a little learning but there are maps, signs and a great little website/app to help you find your way around and all the information you could want about activities, facilities, menus etc. Walking through the forested areas, seeing coatis and iguanas made it feel like a different experience to resorts on the strip. The walks can be a little long, especially in long pants for the evening restaurants so be prepared. The beach isn't the best and it's a bit rocky. This was fine for us because we are pool people through and through and the pools were great. If you like a quieter environment and shaded seats, I recommend using the rectangular pool on the end of the activities pool, it was always a bit emptier and was close enough to still hear the music from the main pool. The golden pool area was even quieter and was very serene. We would normally sleep in, get breakfast and were still able to find covered seats by these two pools. All in all, a great resort in my eyes and one I would definitely consider for return trips!
