    Mixed feelings about Park Royal

We just returned from a week of all inclusive at Park Royal. There were a lot of positives and some negatives too. I’ll start with the negative. The food…. tiniest buffet I’ve ever seen at a resort. The food was decent, but minimal selection. I’d say if you don’t love Mexican food you will not like this resort. For lunch your choice is: the tiny buffet, or a burger, hotdog, fries or nachos with fake cheese sauce at either of the pools. Al a carte dinners were okay but it was annoying to have to line up each morning to try to get a spot. Not really very fun to waste precious vacation time doing this. Also sometimes the portion sizes made no sense… Some mains were so tiny and some appetizers were huge. If you happened to accidentally pick a tiny appetizer and tiny main dish you’d go to bed starving because who wants to go alllll the way to beach for buffet to fill up. I was glad we had brought snacks from home. It was hard to know when a bar was open or closed. If you wanted a nightcap before bed and were in one of the higher buildings, you had to either take a shuttle or walk quite a ways to the lobby bar as the pool bar closed at 8pm. And then there would be no one around to get your drink for a long time. The rooftop wine bar by the 7th floor pool was beautiful but also so random in when it was actually open. Front desk staff were quite unfriendly a lot of the time. And having our wrist bands cut off at noon was super annoying. We had to wait almost 3 hours in the lobby for our airport shuttle because once that wrist band is cut off, no more pool time, food or drink. Unless of course you want to spend 380 pesos per person. Now to the positives. Our room was awesome! Huge balcony and the maids kept everything spotless. The beds were a little firmer than I’m used to but still comfy and I slept great. Very quiet and soundproof rooms as well. And the AC worked perfectly. The shuttles were very convenient and we never waited long. And they were pretty fun too! The pools were beautiful and warm and never very crowded. If you wanted quiet time, the 7th floor pool was amazing and if you wanted some activities then the beach club pool was fun. Also the bar service around the beach club pool and on the beach was great! The a la carte breakfast was so delicious! We were in building 6 so having that so close was awesome! The staff didn’t speak very good English so we often had our orders mixed up but we didn’t mind at all. It was all good. The beach was really beautiful, although directly in front was quite rough for swimming unless you’re brave. We walked down in front of Dreams resort to swim and snorkel and it was beautiful! It was about a 6 minute walk. Taxis were super easy to get directly in front of the resort and cheap too! It was fun to explore the town and have a couple lunches out. I’d probably return if the price was right. This was basically the only resort in Huatulco that fit my budget. There were many people there that have been multiple times and were very helpful with suggestions etc. I do recommend going to eat out in the town, we felt very safe and of course the food was much better than at the resort! Shoutout to Leticia Maria and Gadiel at the ala carte breakfast for their wonderful hospitality. Also Aurora,Karla and Higinio at the ala carte dinners. Fermin at the rooftop bar. Soledad and Ponciano at the beach club. Wilberth at the buffet. They were all awesome! Don’t forget to take bug spray! In the evenings I did get quite a few bites when out and about. It’s much more tropical in Huatulco than in other areas of Mexico that I’ve been to.

    Not the best

The staff at the resort are excellent. They are friendly and work hard to make sure guests have a good experience. The rooms are really nice, but it's a long way to the beach. The shuttle service is good, we never had to wait a long time. The food is ok

    Park Royal Huatulco

We had a great time at the Park Royal. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Buffet was always busy, but the food seemed the same some days. Our room was huge as well as the deck. The pools were great and well maintained. They only have 2 al-acart restaurants and there is only one open a night you have to line up early to get a time. It seemed not all the tables were occupied but we were told that the time slot was full. 2 of us did get sick after eating in them.

    Not worth your money

If you have any disabilities with walking, etc. this is not the place for you. Food allergies is another issue (food was not great at all - especially dinner). Language was a big barrier as very little staff spoke English.

    Beauty place but...

It's a beautiful spot and the room was great . The staff seemed engaged and friendly. We had issues with room service ( two days in a row without towels in our room) . I love good food but willing to enjoy what served .... however it just wasn't up to a standard of any resorts I've been to. Really don't like to leave a poor review but there it is .park Royal is a beauty spot with an awesome beach and water but needs some honing on the things that are important for most travelers
